~~~ May 16, 2009 ~~~ Western Magic ~~~
I think this will go down as the longest post in history. (Actually had to divide it into 2 posts.) I'll start off with what I had intended to post last night but fell asleep doing. Of course, I had to go back and re-read the last 2 days of posts (you guys were busy while I was too busy to be here!!).
DH and I have decided to add a few days on the end of our cruise and stay in Florida.:cool1:
Sounds like fun!!!
I feel like we need to spend a day with my family in south Georgia. So, we'll be heading up there to visit and heading home on Sunday.
I assume you're driving to Florida? I guess your later posts tell me that! I wish we lived closer...
I did our paperwork online last night and we both accounted for our passports, so we should be good to go!
I just looked for our passports, and they're not in the fireproof box like I thought they were!!! :scared1: I'll have to stop at the bank tomorrow and see if they're in the safety deposit box.
I told 2 folks on another cruise board last night about our group, so they may wonder over in the next few days.
WHAT?!?! A DIFFERENT CRUISE BOARD?!?! I FEEL BETRAYED!!!!! :rotfl2: JK!! (I'm sure it's not as fun a group as we are...right?!?!) Are they our two new members here?
I need to get t-shirts. They are on sale this week at Target for the men. What color did you get? white?
Yes, I got white. Old Navy didn't have many other colors to choose from that would show the detail real well. I thought about gray but decided on white. Has anyone looked for iron-on transfers yet? I'm going to get some new ones since the last ones from 7 years ago didn't stay on very well after a few washings. If anyone has had good luck with a specific brand, please let us know! :goodvibes
You must be TAAAAAALLLLLLLL to need long lengths.
Yup...5'10". Justin & I always argue over who is taller. We are EXACTLY the same height!!
Also, according to NASA's website, the shuttle launch is still targetted for May 15!
Oh, I hope so!!! I just went to my grandparents' house this afternoon, and she was asking if I was going to call my uncle anytime soon to arrange a visit with him while we're in FL, so I guess I should call him and see what he says about it. Hopefully he can keep me updated since he works at NASA, and of course, I'll keep you guys updated. Sounds like WDW is kind of the preferred Friday fun for a lot of people now, but we're still up for the launch (if it's happening)!
(Me Racing {In Front of course} :rotfl:)
Cool pic! Justin wants to build the boys a gokart sometime. Who knows when, though. He told them it would be after he finished his last motorcycle, but he started another bike instead. Now he's planning on building a 3rd bike :eek: when he finishes his "Yamachopper." I'm beginning to wonder if he's just telling them what they want to hear. :sad2:
Who knows -- maybe I will be a tiny little size 9? :lmao:
You think you have big feet?!?! My neighbor/friend just told me a few months ago that she wears a size 13!!! I never noticed her feet before, but she's super tall, too (yes, I feel like a shorty next to her), so they "fit" her. She says she can only find granny shoes in her size. :lmao:
This is the descriptions from "allears" . . .
Fudge Mud Slide - A gooey chewy Brownie, Hot Fudge, Three Scoops of Vanilla Ice Cream, Oreo Cookies, topped with Whipped Cream and a Cherry $7.99
No Way Jose - A Peanut Butter and Hot Fudge Delight with Chocolate and Vanilla Ice Cream, Peanut Butter and Chocolate Morsels, Whipped Cream and a Cherry $7.99
A heart attack in a bowl - yes!! But what a way to go!!!!!!!!!!!
HOLY BUCKETS!!!! :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:
Does anyone know how to get any discounts for the Radisson at the port? I have five people in my family cant find discounts for anything but four.
I just used my AAA discount, but it was for 4 people. I don't think they're on Hotwire or anything like that. :confused3
There is a pool at the house
:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: POST-CRUISE PARTY AT AMANDA'S!!!!! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:
JK!! ;) :rotfl2:
Any word on the Shuttle launch?
Welcome back, Sara!!! It's been so long!
I hope to find time to call my uncle this week and will post what I find out from him.
We have booked our excursions:
Key West on our own
GC: Boatswain's Adventure Marine Park
Coz: Dolphin push, pull, swim
CC: Stingray adventure
and we did get our request for Main Seating! YAY!
I'll get you updated on #1! :thumbsup2
Do we have a final meet-up planned? (Don't want to miss it as I browse the pages! hee!)
I don't think we've decided on anything definite yet.
As of right now, we have 42 adult requests & 17 youth requests.
Since the min order is 100 of each, we may have to stick to one size. What do you think??
If we just do one size, I will take 2 adults. The boys will just have to do without. ;)
Hi Everyone... My name is Demetris and I along with my family will be joining you on the 5/16 cruise.
:welcome: to our group!!! I'll put your info on post #1 (I hope you've checked it out!) and will put anything else that you want to share with us. Pics are always welcome! ;)
I feel like I know you guys since I have been lurking for months... :) I finally got the courage and decided to post. :laughing: You guys are so nice and warm sooo I decided to come out of hiding.
Well, we're sure glad you did!!
Hmmmmm...I wonder how many other people are lurking and not letting us know you're out there. At least pop in once and introduce yourselves!! :goodvibes
You all had better get to Cove Cafe before me, if what I have heard about it is true:rotfl2: I am not going to be able to resist!
Good to know...mental note taken. :rotfl:
Is it also true you can make your own ice-cream cookie sandwiches on deck 9?!
Sure!! I can't remember if there are cookies in Topsiders or not (I'm sure so) or just from room service, but all you need to do is take the cookies to the ice cream machine and make it yourself!! :thumbsup2
Oh, and the milkshakes I heard about 2 years ago, too, but the video was awesome, wasn't it?!?! I'm so glad I'll have a Castaway Club jug to make mine in!! :woohoo:
Hi everyone..My husband and I have just signed on to this cruise to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary. So we will be joining you guys & Gals.
:welcome: Shauna!!! Sounds like you're quite the experienced cruiser!! Any suggestions for DIS meets, FE gifts, etc., that you've done in the past?
I'll put you on post #1 with the info you've given and will update with anything else you'd like to share (yes, pics please!!).
Shauna is quite unusual a name, especially spelled the same way
That's how my cousin's name is spelled!! (Oh, and her dad's name is Mike!)
Between Shauna, Shawn, and Shawan, I hope I don't get all mixed up on names!! :laughing:
Ok, so love this idea BUT every place I look for a car rental the day of the 23rd is super expensive. Has anyone out there found a deal for the day of the 23rd?
I need to reserve a rental car yet, too, for the 23rd!! I guess I didn't realize that it might be more expensive because of Memorial Day weekend. :eek: If any deals are out there and anyone has found them, please let us know here! :goodvibes
I am seriously thinking need to go on a serious diet as soon as my MIL leaves just so I can "gain" the weight back on while on the cruise!
I'm worried how I'll be at the end of the cruise, too. Maybe I should lower my goal weight by a few extra pounds...
Ah -- almost forgot. One quick question -- have any of you guys ever used Tour Guide Mike's plans? Someone mentioned this to me and wondering if I should check it out.....
No. What is it?!?!
:thumbsup2 My hubby said screw it, call and add a two night post stay at WDW!!:cool1: :banana: :dance3: :cheer2: :yay:
GREAT IDEA!!! :thumbsup2
Ok, off to bed. Yoni gets up early for his INS interview. If all goes well he will be a citizen by the time we cruise!!!!
:dance3: :dance3: :dance3: That's exciting!!!!
We've rented a car through Budget (I have a FastBreak number for work) so the rate is only $37.81. Check with your company to see if they have any corporate discounts that you can use. If you belong to a credit union you can try there as well. The three companies that are listed in the Passporter as having shuttles from the port to the rental agencies are Budget, Avis and Hertz. They also recommend checking out www.mousesavers.com/rentalcar.html for current discount codes.
Thanks! I'll have to check it out tomorrow (starting to fall asleep again...).
Hi guys! I am just doing a quick check-in to let you know that we are still alive here! It's been about 10 days since I've been on the boards!
Welcome back, Kym!! Yes, it's been a busy board!
Hi guys! I am just doing a quick check-in to let you know that we are still alive here! It's been about 10 days since I've been on the boards! I think I have 21 pages to catch up on:upsidedow I think it might take a while!
I will catchup and comment tomorrow (hopefully)! Hope everyone is well and having fun shopping!
Kym
Kym - good to see you back! Happy catching up.
Ok, I haven't seen the video of the guy making the milkshake (give up the secret)!!
Sonya - I just popped back to say I've started reading your food report and it is amazing, I'm just to page 6 but I'm getting some great tips for our trip. I've heard about Goofy's Candy Co. and thought the treats would be fantastic to bring home to the boys. Guess we will either have to ship them home before we get on the ship or stop by DTD on the way to the airport. There is NO way I'd be able to have them in the room for a week and not dive into them.
One thing that we did on the last MAGIC Cruise, was that they had a place for everyone to meet up whenever they wanted (like an ice cream thing)...say like everyday anyone who wanted to, could meet up around 3pm in front of the ice cream station...whomever wanted to meet up could, whomever didnt, didnt have to. It was nice to know that if we needed our DIS friends fix, we could meet up each day or just when we had some free time. No obligation :goodvibes
Then they did have a meet up in the Promenade lounge on the first day (although I must admit it was kinda hard to meet up on the first day). They also had a certain spot where everyone kinda hung out around during the sail away parties and the pirate parties (although everyone kinda was hard to find during the pirate party due to the rain that night :scared: )
But it was fun walking around the ship and everyone calling out my name and asking if I was Tazgirl (Shauna)...only knowing because of my son :rotfl2:
I will try to find a recent pic of our family to post so that you all can recognize Chris on the cruise as well :rolleyes1 :rotfl:
Between Shauna, Shawn, and Shawan, I hope I don't get all mixed up on names!! :laughing:
I know!!! I'll probably keep turning around everytime I hear Shawn, Shauna, or Shawan. People are always pronouncing my name as "Shauna". I actually went through a whole year of Elementary school where everyone (including the teacher) called me "Shawna" :rotfl:. I never corrected them! ....I always said to myself that I might as well go ahead and change my name to Shawna. No one would know the difference!!!!:lmao:
The suspense is terrible! I can't wait any longer! I need my cruise NOW.
I know!!!!! I'm so ready for May 15th!!!!! :dance3:
That is funny...Everyone would call me Shannon in school :confused3 I guess Shauna was too confusing for them :rotfl2: My hubby calls me Shaunie and my mom and dad call me Shaun sometimes. I like my name, the only thing that makes it hard is that you can NEVER find anything with your name on it, at least with the right spelling unless its custom made :sad2: But no biggie. Everyone else in my family has common names so its nice to have the unusual name of the bunch. Although in school it was hard when there was a boy named Shawn...I would always answer when someone said Shawn (due to my parents calling me that as a nickname) :rolleyes1
Im with you all on hoping that the time flies until Cruisetime...then it can halt on cruise day ::yes::
I think I just gained 10 lbs from looking at this picture! Awhile back I posted that my working is sending me to a 2 day training at the Boardwalk, I'll be all alone :guilty: but I'm seriously considering walking over to Beaches and Cream and order one of those gigantic desserts and eat to my hearts content.
What I wouldn't do for a job that sends me for training at the Boardwalk! You are so lucky!! Do you need any new staff?!
Yes you must walk over there, its a great little spot!:thumbsup2
I am so impressed. I was telling Yoni about it. Of course he was just thinking I was insane (as I obviously am) for spending so much time reading TRs but hey -- I think it is a VALUABLE use of my time!
Ok, as for T-Rex -- I want to try that. Do you need a reservation? Is it in DTD?
:
I spend all my free time reading trip reports and food reports, Tony thinks I am insane!
Yes, T-Rex is at DTD - I have made a reservation, but I'm sure they take walk-ups!
:thumbsup2 My hubby said screw it, call and add a two night post stay at WDW!!:cool1: :banana: :dance3: :cheer2: :yay:
I LOVE MY HUBBY!!!:lovestruc We didn't really want to leave anyway!!!:rotfl:
Excellent news!!! Yey to your hunny hubby!!!:banana:
I am going to go watch this milkshake video!
Goofy Make Your Own Treats are superb, you have to go there!! I dream about them, and they are such good value! Ohhh just 6 and a half weeks until I get to taste one again!! Are you going to Disney before / after the cruise - I can't remember?
I know!!!!! I'm so ready for May 15th!!!!! :dance3:
Me toooooooo!!!!:cool1:
OK... So I have not figured out the whole reply thing yet... I was talking about the milkshake video being absolutely hysterical especially when he gets advice from the bartender! GREAT IDEA!!! Carole
Sounds fun! Unfortunately, we're going to be partying with our family up in south GA that day. I don't get to see my sister, BIL, nephew, and grandparents very often, so it will be nice for us! Hope you all have a fabulous time!
