~~~ May 16, 2009 ~~~ Western Magic ~~~
First of all I'm back on page 91 (I think) and so if anyone else has already figured this out, then please excuse the repeat, but I'm so psyched that I think I figured out the Key Lime Pie place that Val has raved about that I had to share before reading everything else.
Ok, I used the google map that Val had the link to Key West. Then did a search for Ice Cream Key West and found the following that is located on Front Street:
http://www.sunsetshoppeskeywest.com/key-west/shop-polar-bear-ice-cream.htm
Check it out and let me know if this is the place. If it is then we have one more stop on the FKLP tour!!!
:banana:
Ok, now I'm going to go back and read the rest of the new posts.
My DS is at a taping of Jimmy Fallon's new show in NYC and was taken out of line and asked if he wanted to be on the show!:happytv: He's so excited! If anyone watches it and sees crazy dancers~one of them is mine (the others are his friends)!:rotfl2: The show will be airing tonight. (Bon Jovi :lovestruc and Tina Faye are guests!)
I'll have to watch it tonight!! I wanted to watch last night but forgot it was on.
DS is in the process of applying for Boarder Patrol and will be stationed where the action is if he is hired
OMG! How scary! :scared:
How Many do they let in? Or is it just whoever wants to attend?
I think they'll allow as many as they can fit in the bar. It wasn't that full when we did it.
And I've never tried a martini so I don't know if I'd like it or not.
WHAT?!?! We have an awesome little martini bar here in town, and we LOVE to go there (hey, ladies night on Saturdays!!). They make an awesome Orgasmatini and Seduction. Mmmmmm....(slurp!) Makes me want one right now. I saw the Cove Cafe has martinis on their menu (pricey, though), but I'd love to sit & have martinis and their free goodies! :cloud9:
So who is everyone voting for on Idol? I'm a little behind on watching it, but I know I'll vote for Lil (haven't gotten to her yet, but she's always been a favorite of mine!), but otherwise, I'm over halfway through and haven't really been blown away by anyone yet. I thought Ju'Not did good and Felicia, too (I just got through her song). Guess we'll see by the end of the show. I've got about half hour to go.
Jane, you are awesome!!! THAT'S IT!!!!!
Notice the sign in the background!! (I don't remember seeing the elephant, though! :laughing: )
DSC_0189.jpg
Justin went in to buy it while the boys & I stayed outside at the picnic table, but I do remember peeking in and seeing their menu since it's so cute! YAY!! I'm so glad you thought to search for it!! WTG, girl! :thumbsup2
BTW, my friend that was on DCL last week wasn't at gymnastics tonight. His nanny picked up his daughter (who still had her braids in and looked so cute!), and there aren't classes next week for spring break, so I'll have to wait 2 weeks to hear all about his trip.
Oh, WOW!! Val, that looks so good! And dipped in Chocolate!!!!!:cloud9:
We're another one that has never tried keylime pie!!! :(
That is one thing we are NOT going to skip this go round!! I keep trying to convience Shawn that it doesn't taste like lime!!:sad2:
For those participating in the FE exchange, will you please let me know your favorite Disney characters?
I already have "inferred" information from Sonia, Tigger2002, Lyndsay, Bellamickey, and Shasses (I know you aren't in the FE, but I made a little tiny something for you anyway.)
I have some nice and "generic" ideas already made, but I'm happy to take requests as well.
I'm partial to "Jane" from Tarzan (hmm, wonder why), but both of us are Mickey fans.
Sorry...that type of alcohol is called Mezcal. I've done some research on it, though I think the gist of the matter is they are "like" tequilas, but different. Every explanation I find is different (some say Mezcals are better than tequilas and some say it's the cheapest/worst "cousin" to tequila that exists). What I can say is that the pineapple, cherry, and vanilla flavors are DIVINE!
I make this drink I call the "Egg" using sweet condensed milk, the pineapple or vanilla version of this stuff, and a touch of lime. (It looks like a fork-mixed egg, thus my name for it...)
I had saved a bottle of the pineapple just for my bachelorette weekend. We opened it right when we got into our unit in Saratoga Springs Resort. Within 1 hour, 5 of us had finished the bottle...and two of the girls (who had seconds BTW) were "not drinkers." They were planning to toast with it only and ended up drinking more than me!
I'm just praying the place is still there and that we can find it!
See and here I said I wasn't a drinker, but you go and mention fruity stuff that doesn't taste like alcohol and I think, hmm, maybe I shoud try it. The margarita tasting sounded interesting (fruity and frozen) don't think that Jim would be interested in that but he'd probably like to do the beer tasting with all the other guys.
Sweet! I've bookmarked the site and added to my list of To Do's. I think it would be a great place to kickoff the FKLP tour just after we dock. Now that I know where the ship docks I'll figure out how far it is to the other locations.
The best part is that even if our families arent interested in FKLP they can get ice cream. Who doesn't love ice cream???
Ok, now I'm going to start watching my recording of AI. I have to admit I've never voted before, does it cost to call into an 866 number? (sorry stupid question).
I agree. The end of the show was much better than the beginning! I'm voting for them now!
Well just take a peek at the inside!
Believe me, if it actually did taste like lime, I wouldn't eat it! :rotfl:
Kick it off there...and end it there! :cloud9:
Nope! It's a toll-free number! Vote all you want to!
We're another one that has never tried keylime pie!!! :(
I have never had key lime pie either!!! I've always assumed that it tastes like lemon merangue pie and I really hate the taste of LMP. It's too "twangy" .......DH on the other hand loves KLP.
There is a special brand of flavored Mexcals about 3 blocks from the Cozumel port, which we will be "sampling" and purchasing. Adam HATES tequila and LOVES this stuff! We were almost "drunk" from the tasting only at this place....they give you these tiny samples. But...they are LOADED with alcohol which you can barely taste! We've been looking forward to buying some stuff at this place for the past 2 years! (We only have one small bottle left!:scared1: )
These sound like something we might want to try and then bring some home! But how in the world will we know where the place is? My hubby is a fruity drinker so that would be like finding a needle in a haystack!
Ha --- that counts!!! I LOVE fajitas! We eat them once a week. I am at the point now where I go to a "Studio Kitchen" and have them (yes, I even have them do it) pre-assemble meals for me that I can in turn bake in the oven to make that home cooked meal. We had almond crusted fish tonight, parmesean pork chops last night! Add on a veggie and rice and I can act like a little betty crocker!!!!
Mati, do you do Dream Dinners? I know it's called other names in other parts of the country. I did DD and assembled meals but then they got to tasting the same after several months so I went back to my same ole'cooking routine.
The best part is that even if our families arent interested in FKLP they can get ice cream. Who doesn't love ice cream???
Oh my goodness, I've been to this place! We had ice cream there and it was so HOT that it melted before we got out the door! I recognize the sign in the background!
Well....there's a lot of us ladies who want to do the tequila/margarita tastings! Do we reserve at Guest Services or at Rockin bar D? Since I've never done it, I don't remember where to go.
Also, for girls...there is a tea party with Alice (or with Wendy, whoever is on baord) I think on both sea days. You reserve at Guest Services and they give you a ticket. It's free but you need a ressie.
Mad that Dreams Unlimited didn't email me or call me back today!:mad: I know the difference would have been $799 for us. I know texfinn (Mati) just got lucky! Good that you looked at the website to see on the very last day to cancel! :thumbsup2
I tried posting pics earlier but my computer keeps kicking me off. I'll try to get them posted tonight!
Whew! I don't feel so bad then:) I always thought it was a "lime" pie too. That's why Shawn would never touch it either.
There is going to be ALOT of first's for us on this cruise!!!
The KLP and the drink till we drop tasting!!!:rotfl: This might be alot of fun!!
We're on vacation right, so why not!!!:thumbsup2
We all definatly need to go to kareoke on the margarita tasting night! That would be a blast!!
We're really looking foward to doing kareoke!!:dance3:
Disgirl83 and LucyDDR-- I'd be more than happy to share a table with you all. Who should I give my Res # to?? That would be fun. :)
As for the Disney Dream Job, Yes it was AMAZING!!! I'd be more than happy to share my experience with all of you. It was incredible. Unfortunately for others, it was once in a lifetime and they won't ever other the dream jobs again.
I'll post my videos if people are interested..
I am looking forward to meeting you all!!
Also, I'm interested in the FE?? What is it?
We will be decorating our door.
Oh and I'm JorDan (soon to be 25 March 31st!) and Chad (30)
DH is always trying to get me to go to kareoke with him but I never do. I am really a shy person and he is the outgoing one. Who knows, maybe after our margarita tasting night I might get the courage to try it. :rotfl:
How's the planning for your VN going? I think we spoke a few times via PM about it. Remember to talk it up really good to my DH when you meet him. Maybe if he hears first hand how much fun a DCL vow renewal will be then I will be able to convince him to have one in 5 or 10 years. :rotfl2:
I'm not one to usually get up in front of people, but your right after a few margarita's I'm sure I'll have no problem:rotfl:
I tend to let loose alot more when we're in Disney! I guess I'm more in my comfort zone!!;)
The planning is going! It's coming so fast and I still have so much to do. I go Monday to have my wedding dress altered, it feels so real now!!!
Oh, I PM'd you tonight, did you get it? ;)
I will definatly talk your hubby into it, or at least try!! The way they decorate the deck and the cake and flowers are going to be amazing!! I will have Shawn throw it all on your hubby!!!:rotfl: :thumbsup2
Ok, I dug around and found out what FE is.
That is a GREAT IDEA!! I will be decorating our Stateroom door and be making a FE.
At the Disney Dream Job, we kinda did the same thing. We all made special Disney related gifts for each other (nothing too big). And traded them. It was great to get 25 different gifts from people!!!
I'm very crafty (no really I am!) and due to my job, I am home right now and have a LOT of time on my hands. Hmmm...now what to make.
I would love to hear all your stories. If DL were located in Northern CA instead of Southern, I would love to work there.
I was going to answer your question about FEs but it seems you beat me to it. I'll add you to the list.
Val - thanks for the assist with the Photobucket. I'm going to try and post the pic here to see if it will work. Are you able to see it here?
JimandJane2007-1.jpg
Hopefully that worked. It's from our last day at WDW in 2007.
I also did a google map for the FKLP tour. We can walk between all three locations (according to google) in about 8 minutes.
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&sou...,-95.677068&sspn=33.901528,56.25&ie=UTF8&z=17
try it or copy and paste it. I've emailed it to myself so I can send it to anyone if the link doesn't work. Additionally, if anyone is interested if you use the walking directions you will pass by the Kino's Sandals place just after the Polar Bear Ice Cream Shop. Desserts and cheap sandals!!!
Hi Jane:)
Thank you so very much for sharing these directions!! I have printed them out so we can take them with us!!! Thank you!!;)
We are going to buy those trolley tickets online. They're not bad priced and we can get on and off as often as we like, without a lot of walking!! (and I really need to hit up that sandal shop you mentioned!! I am a sandal girl all year long)
We're really excited about trying the KLP!!! Only 2 more months!!!:yay: :yay:
WOW! I went to bed at 10 and had almost 2 pages to read and it is only 6:35 am! I think everyone must be getting excited about the trip!
Ok, I used the google map that Val had the link to Key West. Then did a search for Ice Cream Key West and found the following that is located on Front Street:
WOW -- that is awesome! I need you on my scavenger hunt team! ;)
I thought there were at least 5 that were good:
Jorge
Scott
Lil
Ju'Not
Felicia
This was one of the better groups it would seem.
Can someone vote for Scott and Lil for me? they were my favourites:thumbsup2 Thanks!
They were good I thought. I also like Kristen (?) is that her name? She was blond and dressed kind of frumpy but had a HUGE voice.
Mati, do you do Dream Dinners? I know it's called other names in other parts of the country. I did DD and assembled meals but then they got to tasting the same after several months so I went back to my same ole'cooking routine.
Nope -- not Dream Dinners. I tried them once but their meals required way too much cooking for me! :rotfl: This called Studio Kitchen: What's for Dinner. Not sure which name is the franchise. They have a lot of "oven ready" meals that you just defrost in the fridge and pop in the oven. No pots or pans involved. Their food is pretty tasty too although the fish last night was kind of bland -- we won't order that again!
Well....there's a lot of us ladies who want to do the tequila/margarita tastings! Do we reserve at Guest Services or at Rockin bar D? Since I've never done it, I don't remember where to go.
Also quite a few guys who want to do the beer tasting. Should we get a definitive list together and plan on that? Do we have to pay for the tickets at Guest Services or do we do it at the tasting?
Also, for girls...there is a tea party with Alice (or with Wendy, whoever is on baord) I think on both sea days. You reserve at Guest Services and they give you a ticket. It's free but you need a ressie..
Hmmmm...need to look up the time for that. It seems like my sea days are getting really busy! I wonder if Sabrina and/or Kai (DS) would be up for that. Kym -- how old were the girls the last time you did it and did they both enjoy it?
Mad that Dreams Unlimited didn't email me or call me back today!:mad: I know the difference would have been $799 for us. I know texfinn (Mati) just got lucky! Good that you looked at the website to see on the very last day to cancel! :thumbsup2
Chalk it up to luck, my stubborn streak and a good TA. Walt (my TA) was really good in that he answered me right away (at 4:30 pm on Monday in FL) and then was persistent with DCL. I did lose the OBC but fortunately not my ressies and it was worth the $652 difference to us!!!
We all definatly need to go to kareoke on the margarita tasting night! That would be a blast!!
We're really looking foward to doing kareoke!!:dance3:
Hmmmm....don't think you want me or my husband singing kareoke BUT we are good cheerleaders! Sounds like fun! :cheer2:
I'm very crafty (no really I am!) and due to my job, I am home right now and have a LOT of time on my hands. Hmmm...now what to make.
Nice!!! I wish I was crafty. I have good ideas but not so good about the "creating" part of it......oh well!
......Additionally, if anyone is interested if you use the walking directions you will pass by the Kino's Sandals place just after the Polar Bear Ice Cream Shop. Desserts and cheap sandals!!!
:yay: Jane
I already told my husband about the sandals place -- can't wait to check it out!
Ok -- so one dilemma that I am struggling with. Will we regret the late dining? My TA was going to request an 8pm seating but am starting to worry that the "fun" kids activities will be while we are in dinner and they will NEVER want to eat with us (which may still be the case). I am also a bit nervous about being so full and tired after dinner that we don't want to enjoy the nightlife -- something Yoni has told me over and over and over again that I was terrible about on our first cruise (I was pregnant!). Has anyone here had both with young kids (late and early dining)? I would love to hear your thoughts. It sounds like we could still possibly get into the early dining.
Thanks for your help!
morning cruisers!!
ya know what? I am a NATIVE Floridian and I have never tried key lime pie, assumed it was too tart, so I never tried it.
We are on teh FE list right?
