~~~ May 16, 2009 ~~~ Western Magic ~~~
OK, we I have to ask you guys to make a promise not to talk about a reality show vote offs until later in the night or give me some warning like "SPOILER ALERT" being in CA we have to wait and although I'm glad crazy girl didn't make it (yet - the judges still have their pics) I want to watch the show without knowing the results.popcorn::
Ooops, so sorry!!! I absolutely forgot about the time difference, I PROMISE to not talk about the shows until the day after (that should be plenty of time to not ruin anyone's surprise).
So my mom was wondering if we have any ...um... more mature cruisers on our cruise meet. (I think that's funny because my parents can be immature with the best of them) lol
My parents are in their 50's (shhh... don't tell them I told you that) and wonder if their is anyone that will be at our meets that remembers the days of rolling your hair with beer cans to get that wide curl or rolling your cigs in the sleeve of your T-shirt. :rotfl:
Like I said, they hang with the young and old alike... they were just wondering if they were going to be the "parents" of the group. :laughing:
We are good with a 3pm meet -- just say when and where.
Val -- we could also meet you guys at the pool after we get on board if that seems like a good plan. I think we plan to rent a car and will have DH drop me and kids off at 10am, then take shuttle back to us whiel I check us in. Hopefully we will get on early and go have lunch and let kids romp in the pool.
We are in for some tastings! Definitely wine and tequila. Not so sure about martini (not a big vodka drinker) but DH might be. Beer may be ok. I am not a big beer drinker but am open to try -- DH loves beer.
Ok, forgot those two -- I definitely watch the Biggest Loser. My personal trainer at the gym knows Jillian and likes to pretend she is her when she trains me -- at least that is what it feels like! :eek: Also love Survivor! Jeff's dimples -- could just get lost in them!
DH didn't record AI for me y'day so didn't get to see the performances all the way through. Did watch results tonight -- won't share my thoughts to I don't spoil any surprises!
I don't know if I got everyone on FB. If not, I am Mati Gaona Pitkanen -- the only one! :)
Ok -- off for an early bedtime -- I am exhausted. I can never sleep in a strange hotel alone.....
Hi Tink! Sorry, we aren't in our 50's but our best friends are a couple in their 60's. We get along with young and old alike! I would imagine there are plenty of folks in their 50s just not sure about on this thread?
Now for my other good news. Since I'm changing positions at work I am having to go to a training class and was given 5 choices of location, and guess what? Yes thats right, Disney was one of them. So from April 22 to 25th I'll be in Disney World staying at the Board Walk. I'm really looking forward to it but this will be the first time I've ever traveled solo so that will be a little akward for me and I'll have to be in seminars from 8 to 5. But it is Disney! :cool1:
Ooohh, fun! I have never stayed at the BoardWalk. It is my sister's favorite hotel although she loved the Wildnerness lodge last year. I used to go to conferences every year in Orlando. We always found at least one night to go to the parks/downtown disney. It is FUN! Something about just being by the mouse.
I'm so happy that we aren't going to be the oldest in our group. I never put beer cans (but I remember some of my friends mom's did - actually I think she used orange juice cans).
Most of my friends are in their 30s (so I guess I don't act my age) but one of my good friends is in her 50s so maybe SHE doesn't act her age either.
Tell us a little about your parents - maybe there is someone with some common interests.
Hey, I was driving and thinking about our name - my suggestion would be something like "Pirates of the Western Carribean - Search for the FLKP treasure"pirate:
This is what I have found so far concerning the naming of our group.
“Pirates of the Western Caribbean - Search for the FLKP treasure"
"The Key Lime Pirates Conquer the Western Caribbean"
"The Castaway Crew"
I likey so far. Keep em coming folks.
I was thinking of giving us a deadline (I know some people are waiting on the name to made/order/design/compile their FE gifts).
What do you guys think?
Hope this makes since. I have been entering notes for my clients for many many hours today. :surfweb: My mind is a bit fried.
Congrats!!!:thumbsup2 One step closer!!!:)
Ashleys Qustion is What kind of ID is required to Drink on the islands. The age on GC and Cozmel is 18...Does anyone know if a drivers licence is acceptable?? THANKS!!!!:woohoo:
Andy.
Ok couldn't find the post, just the one where they talked about drinking onboard. I googled drinking and Grand Cayman and the legal age is 18, I think her government issued ID should be good enough (you could always take your passport as a back-up).
We will be at Old Key West (which is just a short boat ride away - and Jim loved the beignets at DL). If you decide to meet we could come over and join. If you don't mind us old folks :rotfl:
That would be GREAT!!:thumbsup2 The more the merrier! Old folks, NOT, any fan of Disney is forever a child at heart!!:dance3: Plus, someone has to tell me to stop after the second beignet or I will just keep on going!!!:rotfl:
My parents are in their 50's, too. I remember my mom talking about rolling her hair with tin cans!! :rotfl:
Yes! We're heading STRAIGHT to the Mickey pool!!! :banana:
Hi everybody :)
We're still here - we've been busy beavers since Christmas.
Nice to see so many people have joined the group. Getting very excited about the cruise. Can't wait to meet you all.
Looks like I have a lot of catching up to do. Just wanted to pop in and say "hi!"
We always stay at the Beach Club Villas right across from the Boardwalk. I think that is the best area. You can walk to EPCOT and Disney's Hollywood Studios. Lots of other things to do in that area.
My mom is actually on the DIS board, I'll have to see if I can get her to pop over here and answer this one herself. ;)
I have a magnet idea!!! Here it is...:banana:
HI SARA!!!! :wave2: I've been thinking a lot about you lately and some of the others that joined the group awhile ago who haven't been posting anymore (there are quite a few of you, too!). Just wondering if you're all still around and just lurking or if you've given up on us completely since we've been going a little crazy with the chat! :hyper2: :rotfl2: It's good to "see" you again!!! :goodvibes
Regarding names, since I'm not creative and can't come up with anything original, I like the idea of something with the Key Lime "Pie"rates! (Get it?!?! Combining Key Lime "Pie" and "Pirates!") Arrrrggghhh! pirate:
Cool magnet Andy!!! :thumbsup2
I guess it is time to jump in here to introduce ourselves... I am Carole (58) and my husband is Bob (59). Please no jokes about "Carole, Ted, Bob, and Alice"... That one got old a long time ago.;)
I am not sure what you want to know... My husband is a relucant cruiser however in order to not be the only one in the family going, he has decided to join us. He is convinced he will not have a good time. I am confident he will but am keeping my fingers crossed anyway...
