~~~ May 16, 2009 ~~~ Western Magic ~~~
Quick question . . . is there a "Diversions" on the Magic? Apparently I can get excellent chicken wings there! I love me some wings!
I love chicken wings too. I was born in Buffalo, NY which means I have to love wings. During football season I make homemade sauce and wings almost every Sunday. I checked our 2008 Passporter book and there is a Diversions on the Magic. Wings here we come. :worship:
Wow, that cake looks yummy Jordan!
Hi everyone! I hope this messages finds everyone doing well. I am off today because of a promotion test tomorrow. I am taking today to review, relax, and surf about DCL online. We are excited say we are cruising next month. :woohoo: We booked our cruise on 2 Dec 08 and the time flew by. I think this month will be gone in no time since it will be busy for us. Saturday we are going to do more cruise attire shoping with our friends that will be cruising with us. DW and DD are more excited about saturday then me and DS, i guess it is a lady thing. :cheer2: By any chance did anyone experience the Pirate Encounter at Grand Cayman? If so, how was it? Well I am going to get going, I will check back later.
We did the pirate encounter the last time we cruise (Dec 08) and it was a lot of fun. They make the kids scrub the deck & even punished a poor dad by poring ice water over him. He was a good sport! They give you a change to "walk the plank" and jump into the amazing water below before turnign the ship around and heading back. Lots of fun.
Thanks for the info on the Pirate Encounter, it sounds like it is going to be a blast. We have it booked. How much time do you have on the Seven Mile Beach with the encounter?
YUM -- JorDan -- the cakes look amazing!
Sonya -- Yoni LOVES wings. When I told him they had them on the ship, he got very excited. Ottermouse -- if you MAKE a hot sauce, you will definitely need to share. I have trained Yoni well and he LOVES hot hot hot sauce.
Also -- we are booked for the Pirate Encounter and so is Tammy (tsarina) and her family. It is just me and the kids -- Yoni is going diving. We are doing the earlier time. I am hopeful that we will have time at the beach and that Kai won't freak out in the water. It should be fun!
Val -- was wondering the same thing. I know Jamie is swamped with work and in "love" so pretty distracted and Cinda had a busy week but not sure where sweet Belinda has gone off to. I'll text her and make sure she is ok....
I am having trouble working today which isn't a good thing. The weather here is PERFECT. I opened the windows and am sitting her looking at a clear blue sky. I wish the pool was warmer, I think I would jump in if I could!
I was reading a TR from a guy's first 3 day cruise last Dec. He made me realize how crazy the first day will be with all of the activities going on. I need to prepare myself (and Yoni) for a bit of chaos!
Ok let me try the pictures again
Yes! It's one of the bars. I think that's where the margarita/tequila tasting was at.
Woo hoo!!!! Get me to the wings, peeps!
I feel almost famous! I saw that someone found my post on cruise critic when I was trying to find this board. :) I'm here! Hooray! Thanks for caring though and I'm glad that I finally found this board. We're really excited that the cruise is next month. We'll be flying out of Newark, NJ on the 15th and staying overnight at the Residence Inn Marriott. I'm a bit nervous about flying with our then 10 month old...but hopefully it will work out. We can't wait!
I can't remember if I have said welcome, so :welcome: :banana:
We never actually went to the beach. The boat drops anchor off the coast, but not at the beach.
I'm glad you made it over!!!!
I received an email from the Kennedy Space Center regarding tickets being on sale for the May 12th launch. I guess it's not looking so hot for a launch on May 15th as well...Oh well, I guess we'll have to wait and see.....
"STS-125 Space Shuttle Atlantis Launch Tickets On Sale This Friday
Mission: STS-125 Space Shuttle Atlantis
Date: Tuesday, May 12, 2009
Time: TBD
Launch tickets go on sale Friday, April 3, 2009 at 9:00 A.M. ET. Don't miss this historic mission as Navy Captain Scott D. Altman commands the final Hubble Space Telescope servicing mission to push the boundaries of how deep into space and how far back in time humanity can look. This is a rare opportunity to view a launch from Kennedy Space Center.
Call 321-449-4400 for more information.
*Due to the launch date change, a limited number of tickets have already been sold. ""
Also for those who booked the Radisson for May 15th in advance, I checked the Radisson website and it looks like the prices have gone up. I'm really glad that we decided to go ahead and book early. I guess it pays to be an obsessive-compulsive planner :lmao:
Thanks for the info. It must have changed because the 2008 Passporter mentions the Pirate shipping going to the beach...hmmmm:confused3
Does anyone know if we can bring our own champagne bottle (already opened by us) to Palo. We are brining our own bottle and plan on opening it in the room but was not sure if Palo will allow us to bring it.
HI Everyone! Ok, so far my MIL's visit has been nice. They are enjoying the weather (which has been almost perfect -- a bit windy but beautiful) and have already played some golf and visited the outlet malls. Last night we took them to the Oasis -- a famous "Austin" restaraunt on the lake known for the sunsets. I thought I would share some pics:
Yoni's Mom & her husband:
KaisuUrsOasis33109.jpg
I am practicing taking pictures of food so here is a bit of food porn.
The Fajita nacho platter -- it was pretty yummy:
One of TWO Margaritas I enjoyed last night (sorry, was half way through it when I thought to take a pic) -- again, very yummmmmmy:
And of course, pictures of the sunset:
Sorry if you dont care for the food pics. Trying to get used to taking food photos for the trip! Sorry that two of the pics are JUMBO sized -- not sure why they are different than the other three. Like I said...still learning!!!!
Just two more days until we go to VEGAS!!!! :dance3:
Alright -- off to cook dinner. I hope you all have a fabulous night!
I was going to put together a FE list, but if it will be included in yours I'll hold off.
Actually I like the Beach & Yacht Club better (you'll be able to use Stormalong Bay and you are SO much closer to Beaches & Cream and EPCOT). The Boardwalk Resort is cool, but the hallways can be miles long at the end of a day.
You've done such a great job putting together the weekly cruise list with FE participants so if you don't mind I'll probably piggy back off what you've done. Since the FE cutoff is today I assume that our list for that will be finalized by tomorrow and then as long as you plan to continue updating the list of all cruisers I'll just take that add it into out navigator. Then you want have to worry about bring alot of copies with you.
I was thinking that I'll have copies of the mini navigator to pass out on the cruise, but I'll also e-mail a copy out either right before the cruise or right when we get back so everyone can print out clean copies for those like to keep "clean" momentos or do scrapbooking! :thumbsup2
So glad to hear that you like Beach & Yacht Club better, I'm excited to go (even if it will be a mini trip and for work).
So here it is! We have always done one from 30 days and counting but couldn't help ourselves this year!!
I love it!!!! This is soo creative.
I didn't have a chance to read the whole thread. I will try to catch up. Meanwhile, I will introduce myself.
Welcome!!! :cheer2:
Wow, the sunset is amazing (and the nachos aren't too bad either!) :rotfl: Have an awesome time in Vegas!
JorDan- so I saw those wonderful cake pics on FB and just wanted to tell you again that I LOVE them.
HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY JORDAN!!:dance3:
I recieved the FE thank you so much its adorable.Hope you have a Magical Day! I hope everyone has a Magical Day! I am getting so Excited!:banana: Crystal,
Thanks, Actually my mom and sister made me the cakes (I wasn't allowed in the kitchen this year). Creativity runs through my family. :laughing:
Glad you got your FE and like it!
I can't believe on 44 days....my countdown is 43 days cause we are flying out Friday. Since we don't fly out until 4 PM I need distractions, so I'm getting my hair cut, and mani's & Pedi's done that morning. Hopefully I can sit still! :banana:
Also counting down until the FE cutoff tonight. hahahaha I need to get some things ordered. :laughing:
To those who asked....I'm around but have been really busy! I had family here from Thursday until Tuesday and was on call Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. It's only Wednesday, and I've done 5 operations and 3 bedside procedures this week! Plus, Adam was gone from Thursday through Monday, so I was the housekeeper and dog caregiver as well!
To our new members, welcome! I also tried posting about the Dis boards on the Cruise Critic page (which I follow a lot when we cruise Carnival), but all of my posts were "erased." I wasn't sure what was happening and I just gave up. Sorry...
Mati: Looks like your MIL visit has gone rather well! Hope you have a wonderful trip to Vegas. BTW If you end up in Emeril's Steak house in the Venetian, ask for Corriene. She's a waitress and buddy of mine! If you get sick (or anyone else), get my number off of facebook and call me. I can help you get good care right off the Strip. (Where I used to work on weekends for extra $$...) Have a great trip!
Jordan: Happy belated birthday! Your cakes looked very cool!
Val: Hope you are recovered!
Lyndsay: Have fun in St. Augustine! I trained in Jacksonville for 5 years and we used to ride down to St. Augustine on Sunday afternoons. I'd highly recommend the Conch House for dinner! It has these cool outdoor tikis where you can sit and watch the sunset over the marsh. I miss that place!
Kym: Your countdown is adorable! Very, very nice!
Travel Plans: We will be driving down on Thursday night and probably staying at my parent's second home in south Georgia which is 6.5 hours from home. We will then probably get up Friday morning and make the 4.5 hour drive to the port. I'm thinking we may forget about WDW/DTD and just go straight to the port to relax and have a good dinner. Interestingly enough, my parents asked tonight about riding down with us so that they could go on the Carnival Glory cruise leaving the same day. (They cruise a lot, but have never done Carnival. They have no interest in DCL at all...) So...we may have company!
My new Lands End items came today and my FE was supposedly mailed on Monday, so things are coming together!
Just wanted to remind everyone that today is the cut off date for wristbands!
I'm ordering tomorrow!
Faith&Hope - Thanks for the offer to help out, but I think we are good to go! You are too sweet.
I'll give everyone a total when I order, but it should be really close to what I posted the other day: $1.75 each
Our travel plans: We fly in on Thursday evening and stay one night at the Boardwalk Villas (renting points from one of the members...the only way to stay at Disney). We had planned to drive down but was able to get a really cheap flight with Allegiant Air.
Friday - All day at EPCOT. One-day tickets are so expensive, but I was able to get some from eBay for about $15 less per ticket.
Friday night - Stay at the Marriott Residence Inn
Saturday - Take the shuttle over to the port (the shuttle is $3/person each way).
