~~~ May 16, 2009 ~~~ Western Magic ~~~ Part 2 ~~~ Key Lime Pie-rates ~~~
Hi Everyone,
I hope everyone had as great a time as we did on the boat. Thank you all for the wonderful FE gifts!! The kids loved going back to the room to see if we had any in our FE and we loved them all. I couldn't pick a favorite, because they were all so great! I think we lucked out on weather too. Our porter in the parking lot said they had over 16" of rain the week we were at sea. Yikes!! I'm so happy it cleared up when we were at Castaway Cay. It looked bad in the morning...but our Disney prayers were answered and we had a great time. Hope everyone had a safe trip home. I will miss the anticipation of the trip and the boards though! :)
Just wanted to let everyone know we just made it home!! We had a blast meeting all of you and wish we were still there!!
Carole- we did book the Trans cruise on board intending to change it over to DVC points as soon as we could get to a phone. Well, it was already sold out of all the 11 & 10's so since we don't have enough points we had to switch to the 10/23/2010 Eastern. I am pretty bummed since I'm dying to go to Europe and the points for the Trans were reasonable but hey, we still get to go on another cruise and we can check out the Food & Wine and Mickey's Not So Scary afterwards! However, the DVC agent told me to keep checking back every so often to see if anything opens up so there's still a small chance of us being on the Trans cruise but more than likely it will be the Eastern.
Hope everyone made it home safely!! Can't wait to see all our group pics!!
Chasity & Gus
We made it home early yesterday evening. I dreamt all night that we were still on the ship. Sad to wake up in our bedroom at home :(. Knowing all of you DISers made the cruise sooooo much more special. In fact, when Brian was filling out our comment survey, for the question about a WOW moment, I had him put down meeting all of my DIS board friends :). For those of you that were nightly Rockin' Bar D guests, I hope Jake and Johnny were entertaining :). I can't wait to see our group photo. I have just the character autographed mat for it :)! ~ Kathy
We only met a few of you (forgot to take the list of meet times!), but really enjoyed those we did meet. It was nice to say hello to a few familiar faces here and there about the ship. We upgraded at the port to a balcony, and are so glad we did (except for the bill :scared1:). We had room service breakfast there every morning, and it was one of many high points of the trip. Our assigned dining partners were a wonderful couple from Iowa - perfectly matched to us . . . we looked forward to dinner and our time with them every day. Such a marvelous trip in so many ways. They really do it right, don't they? We are home, the laundry is now done, and we have had a nap to help make up for the 13 hour drive yesterday. We are booked on the westbound transatlantic (did that last December) and booked a dummy cruise as well (12/4/2010) to hold the discount until the 2011 cruises come out. Hope your real world transitions go smoothly. Anne
Our tablemates (and cabin next door neighbors) were a couple and their 4 year old daughter (who insisted on sitting next to me and who told me on night 3 that she loved me very much :)) from the DC area. On night 2 they asked if we knew anyone who owned DVC, as they had seen the desk on deck 4. Brian and I joined DVC in December 1999, so I was happy to answer any questions they had. One day in the hall they asked Brian about the onboard DVC presentation. I left them an invitation for the next meeting with my member info. They asked us questions at dinner the next few nights and on Friday night they told us that they joined and put us as their referral :). WooHoo, a $200 Disney gift card will be coming my way. I told them that DVC was not your traditional timeshare and that there was no pressure whatsoever from them to buy. Their members are their best form of advertising. It was a nice way to end our trip, knowing that I helped spread the magic (and have a few $$ for our next trip) :). ~ Kathy
We made it home!! All the way to Canada! WooHoo!!
Feels good to be home, but we miss our dinner and table mates :sad2:
Hope all had safe travels home!!
Hi Andy ~ Glad to hear you made it home safe and sound :). Sorry, I didn't introduce myself until the last day. At dinner, I kept thinking you and Ashley looked familiar, but couldn't figure it out.
I know what you mean about missing everyone :(. I miss free room service for our late night snacks (although my pants don't miss it :)). ~ Kathy
:thumbsup2 Glad to know you are home Andy and Ashley! Amanda, Jason, Alison, Rob and the boys just left for the 13 hour drive home... Kevin flew this afternoon and is there now... He has to work tomorrow!
Kathy... We were all commenting this morning about how much we missed Alexander :sad1: who brought us such incredible food!
Chasity and Gus... Sorry to hear you had problems :headache: changing your reservation to points! Hopefully if you keep checking you can get it anyway...
Really didn't meet any of you that I know of, but we were couple 1 on match your mate on the first night I believe.
Bill ~ We were at that show (as well as several other DISers) :). I saw you guys around the ship several times. I wish I would have known you were in our DIS group. You guys were very cute on the show :). Brian and I tried to get selected, but didn't make it. Our son Jake was in the audience as well. He may have been a bit wierded out by the "where's the most unusual place you have discovered the magic" question though :). ~ Kathy
I know that Carole & family and Gus & Chasity rebooked while on board, but who else did? We used the faux booking date of 12/4/10, with the intention of going on the Fantasy inagural sailing in 2012 with Jordan & Chad (and baby Tripp :)). It seems like a long time away, but planning is half the fun, especially when you are going with another DISer :)! ~ Kathy
We made it home today. Our flights were wonderfully uneventful and it was great to see our sweet dog again.
We are still talking about what an amazing vacation this was. It was terrific getting to meet so many of you.
Wanted to make sure I thanked all of you for sharing information - you really made this the best vacation ever! My DH was so impressed with the planning and organization - thanks to all of you sharing your magic. :grouphug:
My washing machine is getting a workout tonight - I can't believe the mountain of laundry we created this week! LOL!
Kathy, I woke up dreaming that we were still on the ship, too. What a bummer to look around and realize the fun was over :confused:
We're home now, too. Left Cocoa a bit early to get a jump on all the things we'd have to do once we get home. I could swear the ship was moving while I was showering at the hotel....which was on land! lol
I put a bunch of stuff away and cleaned up all the extra food, litter etc. but there is still tons to do. I'll keep an eye out here, though. I also have to see what pictures (and video - sorry Kim :P) I have now that I am back with my computer.
It was great meeting everyone! I'm so disappointed that I missed the group pics, but it couldn't really be helped at the time.
Bill - It's too funny that that was you. After that show it's hard not to feel like we met you. :P
We are home!
Back to laundry and no more room service!
I had a chance to meet a few of you all, it seems the time got away from me!
This was such a great experience, I would like to thank you all for the wonderful fish extender gifts!! My boys loved coming to back to the room each night and so did I!!!
Thanks for being so great!
Kristin
We booked the December 4 as a "dummy date" as well! I know that I won't be going to the Caribbean in 2010, but plan to push the date somewhere into 2011 or so. (Unless some miracle occurs and we decide to cruise the Med next year.) I just figured the discount was too good to pass up, and I'm sure we'll take another Disney cruise again at some point! (Our next cruises are going to be the Med, Alaska, and probably the Southern Caribbean on another cruisline as we just like those ports more.)
Glad to hear everyone made it home safely! We got in around 1 am this morning and I couldn't wait to get the office mail...so I got up around 6:30. :scared1: Now, I've finished my office stuff (mail, emails, messages, signing charts, etc) and I'm heading home to have breakfast and start laundry...
It really was wonderful meeting you all and I hope we'll be able to cruise with some of you again!
Hi everyone...
We made it home last night.
I am soooo sad to be home. I hate leaving the Magic- Yes I cried (couldn't even look at Val And marcy after we got off the ship cause I was afraid I'd have a complete meltdown).
This cruise was amazing...you guys made it even MORE amazing, so much that my Husband talks non-stop about you all.
FE gifts were great and so much fun! Can't wait to do it again.
As Kathy said, we booked a Dec 2010 dummy date so we can push it back to the 2012 Inaugural Fantasy Cruise. Can't wait!!!!!
It's too far away for me, but with a baby soon....I'm hoping time flies!
Ok off to do my mountain of laundry, and must figure something out for breakfast!! No food here......where is topsiders???!?!?
We're home as well. Got in on Friday night around 10:00pm West coast time. Did laundry and shopping yesterday and spent a good deal of time watching AI, Survivor and Gray's Anatomy final episodes.
We had a great time meeting all of you! I'm so glad that we found the boards and this thread. It made the cruise so much more enjoyable to be walking along and run into friends.
Thanks for all the fantastic FE gifts! Jim was very excited everytime we got back to the room to check our bags.
It was great linking up with our dinner/table mates (and adding one along the way). We had such a good time during dinner hearing about everyone's days and plans.
Belinda and Shawn - Thank you for letting us spy on you during your VR. It was such a special addition to the trip. I'll be putting together the video and pictures that we took and send you a CD.
Andy and Ashley - Thanks for letting us tag along on the geocache hunt. We had a blast. We saw a Garmin at Costco yesterday and it wasn't as expensive as we thought. Might just have to work that into the budget and see what caches are around our area.
Unfortunately, we didn't book any trips while on board. With everything going on at home and in the economy we just couldn't do it. I guess we'll live vicariously through all of you. Of course if any of you decide to come out to CA and visit DL, then let us know. I quick 7 hour drive is doable on a couple of weeks notice.
Jane
It's official I need to be a permanent Disney vacation goer! Being home is horrible, well except for getting to see my doggies and cat.
I miss talking to all of you that I was able to meet and see your smiling faces. I wish the cruise was longer so that I could have spend more time meeting all of you!!!
The cruise was awesome, Jason and I had a blast!!! :cool1: I must say the first day meeting in the terminal was pretty overwhelming, but I'm definately glad we did the bracelets.
Bill- I wondered if that was you on the first night because I though I remember you saying you were celebrating your anniversary! If I had know for sure I would have definately introduced myself. I think I also say you and your wife around the pool a couple of days.
Back to house cleaning! :guilty: Where is my wonderful Felindro with his towel animal art and chocolates??? I can't wait for us to share all of our experiences from the week.
Ok, the vacation is over depression has officially set in now! :guilty:
But the good news is I finally feel like I'm on land again. lol.
Lynsey - thanks again so much for making those personal nav's for everyone!! Not to mention approaching us at the terminal. I'm not sure we would have met as many of you guys as we did if you hadn't done that!! :goodvibes
If you and Jason ever make it out to Cali give us a call so we can show you around! It would be great to have a mini reunion at Disneyland!!!
I would love to do another cruise with everyone again. I think I under estimated the extra magic it would bring. :wizard:
