May 16, 2004 / 4 Day Wonder

I like the camera. I bought it for the 10x zoom. Takes great pictures. The case is rated for 130' but I dont go deeper than 10-15 when I swim. Never did any SCUBA, so it will be fine. It is a little bulky, but I have a 35mm with a 28-300 lens and that was about the same size. I have yet to use the case, but I will be taking it to the YMCA when I go swimming there.

Glenn, When you go the the Y to try the housing out in the pool. Try it without the camera in it first. Just a tip as this is a lesson we learned the hard way. We weree lucky as it was a less expensive U/W camera and we did not have any damage. I think it was due to a dirty O-ring. So keep the o-ring very clean. Did you get some silicone grease with the housing?

Yes the 10X zoom is great , we used it (C-730) on a photo trip to Tanzania and got some great pictures.

I am debating weither to bring our other U/W camera on the cruise. Not sure if it would be worth it.

I did dip the case in the sink......tremendous testing pressure in there..LOL The book tells you to test it to the max depth before inserting the camera, but 6 feet will be all I can test it. That should be sufficient. I did get the grease and silica packs and I could always get more grease if necessary at work. I used my camera for the first time in Palermo. I was impressed. I need a little more practice in low lit areas like cathedrals. The auto mode is not great for that.

Sink Test is good. Low light is a tough one. Those cameras can do so much more that my little brain can comprehend.

Yeh I know. I tried the manual settings and nothing seemed to work right, so I stuck with the auto. F-stop, aperture ???? :(

I will figure it out

I received an e-mail from WDW today, offering me the opportunity to participate in a survey. Of course, I jumped right on it. The survey focused on the idea of WDW offering an environmentally friendly hotel and what I thought of it. It also briefly touched on what I like about current resorts and what theme I would like to see in a future hotel.
I also filled out a DCL survey online last night...Disney is just full of my opinion now! :)

I also did the DCL survey. I am a sucker to participate in surveys. Especially with Disney as I know they really use the info received. I even did a focus group once at WDW a couple of years ago. I think I am still sworn to secrecy about the specific topic. It dealt with an attraction at EPCOT.

Good to see the count down clocks ticking away.

 I was just setting up my count down clock and just wanted to test it on here. Thats all. If that makes me weird, then I am weird.....Well, I AM...LOL We all know that already. Just having fun.:jester:

It finally arrived, my very own copy of the new DCL DVD. We watched it late last night. The whole DVD takes a good bit of time to go thru if you try out all of the options. MUCH better then the VHS tape! I may end up viewing it every day until we get on the plane
:cool1:

Good to hear the the DVD is better than the tape. Will have to get it one of these days. Might get a chance to view the tape this morning. Between work, puppies, and teaching SCUBA classes these next two weeks will be very very busy.

Glenn nothing wrong with being wierd, heck we all must be a little wierd with these Disney obsessions...

Should not have watched the video... My body may be here in Wyoming but my mind is on a beach where it is 5:00 oclock somewhere.

Paid off our trip today! All done. Now the wait for the documents. Glenn, did you get your travel documents already?

Scott- I am dreaming of being on a beach now too...I need to recover from the 2 birthday parties we just finished for our kids- not more then 10 minutes ago. I am worn out!!

Just realized this was my 500th post!

2 B-day parties, I can only imagine.

Congrats on 500 posts.

As others are asking about how far out will we start to expect the FedX dude with those WONDERful pieces of paper that will really get the anticipation meter pegged.

Glenn and Annae,
I noticed your count down clocks are a day ahead of mine. Will you all be at WDW before? Any Fun plans? WDW after. After the cruise we will be at BCV, so will Scottie’s crew. Lucky Scottie as he will be there longer than us. Sadly we won’t get to FL until the day we sail. Be in ATL for the weekend before visiting my sister, which is fun anyway.

Scott:

We took the 7 day land/sea package. We have three nights in WDW first at the Polynesian Village. Then on Sunday we board the Wonder. I set my timer for the day we leave to board the auto train May 12, 2004. I figured that woud be the day that we would no longer be in New Jersey! :bounce:

Sounds great, I will be interested in your thoughts and experience on the Auto Train.

If you have not stayed at the Polly I am sure you will enjoy it. I will recommend the Kona Café and Ohana. Kona Café coffee is great as well as the stuffed French toast, I think it is called Tonga Toast. . Ohana for dinner is fun. Did it with my sister’s family one year and it was fun for all, kids included. I am sure you will enjoy.
