The territorial sea limit is 12 miles. Outside of the area around the Salish Sea this won’t be an issue. What it will be however is a rougher voyage. One of the selling points of cruises to Alaska is using the inside passage to have a smoother trip. Having to travel out in the open ocean of the Pacific will make things rougher.

I got to admit that was the only trip I never got seasick on. So 12 miles won’t impede our travel except for about how much travel? 2 or 8 hrs? More?

I do not know. The ship might be able to move a little faster as they would not have to navigate through the inside passage.

Well, I think the Wonder is scheduled to sail out of Seattle beginning in July.

That hasn't been a good sign in the past, but I'm hoping this time it means they are changing them to depart from Seattle!

Maybe Canada will see what is going on and open up the Vancouver cruise port early.

In Ontario, based on the current reopening "plan" (I use that term lightly), I might be allowed to get a haircut sometime in July. Indoor dining is looking like closer to August. This, despite first-shot vaccination coverage over 50% today (that's total population, not just adults), with vaccinations continuing a rate of close to 1% of the population per day for at least the next couple of weeks, and the epidemiological situation rapidly improving.

Meanwhile, the clown who calls himself Premier of this province continues to blather incessantly about the "urgent need to tighten the borders", mainly as a means of distracting attention from the epic muck-up he made of the last reopening attempt. Borders, including ports, are federal responsibility, so he doesn't get to decide, but it gives you some idea of what we're up against. Sadly, no cruise ships in Canada anytime soon.
