May 14, 2011 - Eastbound TransAtlantic

:lovestruc We are married now!! :lovestruc

and... now we are starting packing for trip, we leave tomorrow morning at 3am.

We can't wait to relax on the cruise!

YAE CONGRATS!!!!!! So excited we get to be present on your honeymoon, that is so totally awesomelly cool!

Married 16 years, but my beloved is not coming with me. My BFF's husband has to deal with us both, poor guy! :rotfl:

I just finished my online check in for the cruise, it made me pick my port arrival time, the earliest still avaliable was 12:30, I don't recall this from our last cruise, do they make us wait until then to check in??

you should be fine showing up whenever you want. DCL did this to try to figure out staffing for each time frame (or so they told me). When we sailed in February noone asked about our check in time. We DID however get a boarding number based on the time we checked in and had to wait for our number to be called. I think it was about 30-45 minutes maybe? DH was returning the rental car so we were waiting for him anyways. I guess they are trying to avoid the big line at the mouseears. Ya know with DCL it's more a "What time can I get on board" rather than a "What time do I have to be onboard?" :rotfl2:

That's what I figured about checking in, we'll be on the first shuttle out of Coronado Springs.

Thanks for the congratulations, we can't wait to finally relax. :bride:

<edited> I don't know why, but I just checked my reservation online, and I've been handed a sweet upgrade. I booked an 11C and originally was assigned a 10B. Now I've been moved up to Deck 6, a category 9A--I have a window!!! :yay:

Edited to add: oops, I think I misread the colors on the deck plan. Apparently the upgrade is to a 9A, an oceanview. (Originally I was thinking it was a verandah; silly, I know.) But at least there's a window! Can anyone confirm what cabin type of cabin 6524 is?

OK, so I'm jealous that you booked an inside and got a balcony. I shall work on my manners.

Is anyone else doing "This time next week I will be......?" We've done it at least twice. Status--carry on packed, shopping done, cleaning done, laundry done (well, I'll undoubtedly be given more of that).

From DD--Um...mom......I left all my swim suits at my apartment. It would have been cheaper to give her gas money and send her back to college for everything she "forgot."

We've been doing the next week this time thing too.

I actually began packing today, and need to take a few things out, I think. Got the magnets laminated. And I think we're just about ready to go.

The older kids evaluations for school are on Wednesday, and when that's over, I'll be so happy.

6524 is a deluxe oceanview....

I have called on this twice this week, there is only a limit on DCL IF you are using a personal check, then you are limited to $200 USD for exchange. I also verified that they will have sterling pounds for Gib, and they said yes.

YIPPEE!! great upgrade!

We have our day split in 2 as we are staying an extra day. (NB I am the Travel agent Dork, I have a map that is highlighted and has post its all over it!)
Day 1 - ode to Gaudi
We start with Sangrada Familia - metro Sangrada Familia!
Then to a market to get lunch and onto Parc Guell - metro stop Lesseps and bus 24
then bus 24 or metro Diagonal, walk down Passeig de Gracia and see Casa Mila and Casa Batello
if we have time, then to Las Ramblas for a wander through the Barri Gotic

Day 2 - Barcelona
Walk to Las Ramblas (we are staying at the Tryp Apollo)
see Palau Guell
shop at the market -Mercat Boqueria
Visit the Placa reial
then dinner, after dinner up to the magic fountains for 9:30 show, metro Espanya and then walk up the road

IF we have time we may go up to the Catell for the view, but I think that we will be busy enough!!! Disney advertises a Chocolate Museum, but I do not know where it is, if we find it we will prob pop in and have a see. I have said that on Saturday I want to stop at a cafe for Sangria

Does this help at all? you are welcome to gander @ my map when we meet!!:thumbsup2

p.s. any news about Gibraltar? :cool1:

thank you!
your day 1 sounds about exactly what we want to do except we have to squish in the aquarium. PS I found a coupon online if anyone else is going to the aquarium

I would have post its all over my map too if I had the time to organize this trip-- but I've done the best I can....and we will have to make do.
We will try to make sure we dont stalk you all day long :)

sounds great to me, if we pay in Euros then what do they want? I can meet anywhere, in prev cruises we have met inside and left together. but I will follow the crowd, Thanks again for organizing this for us!

you are no more dorky than the rest of us on here! LOL! And what is going on with Gib? did i miss something?

I think just waiting for me to post final info for Gibraltar-- I just posted a few minutes ago.
Busy work day today. Thankfully we almost finished packing yesterday. If you see a family of 5 with VERY WRINKLED clothes the 1st week of the cruise-- that would be my family!! I've already packed & zipped up all but one of the suitcases ( I think we will be at 4 carry ons & 1 checked for the 5 of us).

for anything but sterling pounds I think he said it would depend on exchange rate on the day of the tour

I have only met inside the ship before as well on other cruise lines-

there are only 7 groups/cabins meeting up- do you have a suggestion for those of us that want to meet up inside the ship somewhere that would be close to where the gangway typically is? I just havent been on a DCL ship to know how to plan this in advance-- for those of us that want to meet on the ship- we could meet up at 745 or 750 and then go out together?? - either way I am sure it will work out fine

Waiting for an answer for DCL but maybe you guys know. Can you exchange traveler's checks for Euros on board and is there any limit on what can be exchanged?

TIA
Julie

Disney looks at Travelers cheques as cash - no limit to exchanging those. Checks are limited to the $200. You cannot charge exchange money to your account or use your OBC to get euros.

Yes....or at least they always have been in the past so I assume they will be for this sailing as well. The non-kid activities tend to be slim during port days but when we stayed on board we still found plenty to do. :)
