May 14, 2011 - Eastbound TransAtlantic

I don't recall the lines being to long except where the lines intersected. I am a huge fan of HOHO tours I think that they are great, but I was not impressed by barcelona.
We are buying the T10 pass that gets us 10 rides on all public transpot and I am told that we can share this. I have marked all the metro stops and bus route#'s near the places we are visiting. I have a good sence of direction and can read maps easily, we have done this in many cities successfully so I am looking forward to it! (we even rode the public buses in St Petersburg!)

would you mind sharing which places you have planned out to visit? I'm so behind with planning barcelona.... but since you have been there before your list might not be similar.......
Park Gueill, Aquarium, the cathedral that is still not finished.... familia.... something? cant remember the name and find churros & chocolate for Gavin--- that is my list to date :)
have to run errands..... the kids all have spf water shirts.... but want to find one for me

we love taking public transportation-- my only hesitation w/ Barcelona was I did not know if most of public transportation is underground??? I would prefer to be in the city at least riding around & seeing things as we pass by

I do not believe the ship is totally sold out. I think it is just past the deadline. Too many cabins where available just a few days ago.

I agree, I looked and there were plenty of rooms left, then I looked a few hours later and everything was gone.
So unless crazy group purchased a load of room in one big lot....

if they have alot of guarantees left to assign--it is possible (hopefully not)

For example if they have 89 "guarantee status" cabins waiting to be assigned-- and they had 10 cabins each in 9 categories showing as "available" online but once they sell one more cabin, the ship can move to sold out status. Just because you see lots of cabins to chose from online doesnt necessarily = that there are that many available for sale

Good Morning,

My husband and I will be on the B2B and are excited to experience our first Transatlantic cruise. We have been on a Med cruise in the past but will visit new ports with Disney.

I did put our information on the spreadsheet although I know we are too late to participate in many of the activities. We will be at AKL for 3 nights before the cruise.

DisName THSMaster
First Names Larry & Barbara
Stateroom 7020 - for B2B
Cruised Before Panama Canal Cruise on the Wonder

We look forward to seeing others around the ship.

Barbara & Larry

Welcome, I too will be B2B. Don't know my cabin number for Med.. still guarantee status. I will probably be changing rooms. The last med/WBTA 2010 had about 200 B2B guests. I suspect the B2Bers will be a smaller group on the EBTA. I B2B Panama and the 2day cruise to nowhere. About 10-15 people B2B, including the captain's wife. Being on the ship when it's nearly empty is an awesome experience. Look forward to meeting you.
Amy

I booked restricted gaurantee for both EBTA and med. I got my EBTA assignment last week but don't have my med assignment yet.

We have our day split in 2 as we are staying an extra day. (NB I am the Travel agent Dork, I have a map that is highlighted and has post its all over it!)
Day 1 - ode to Gaudi
We start with Sangrada Familia - metro Sangrada Familia!
Then to a market to get lunch and onto Parc Guell - metro stop Lesseps and bus 24
then bus 24 or metro Diagonal, walk down Passeig de Gracia and see Casa Mila and Casa Batello
if we have time, then to Las Ramblas for a wander through the Barri Gotic

Day 2 - Barcelona
Walk to Las Ramblas (we are staying at the Tryp Apollo)
see Palau Guell
shop at the market -Mercat Boqueria
Visit the Placa reial
then dinner, after dinner up to the magic fountains for 9:30 show, metro Espanya and then walk up the road

IF we have time we may go up to the Catell for the view, but I think that we will be busy enough!!! Disney advertises a Chocolate Museum, but I do not know where it is, if we find it we will prob pop in and have a see. I have said that on Saturday I want to stop at a cafe for Sangria

Does this help at all? you are welcome to gander @ my map when we meet!!:thumbsup2

p.s. any news about Gibraltar? :cool1:

The washers can be set for cold water. That is what I use in them.

I do believe I saw someone with their card punched. Not sure where they had it punched but do try the CS desk.

And yes you are right about the docs. They will also have you fill out and sign a med. form. Basically asking if you have had fever, a cough or diarrhea in the last .. 3 days I think.....

Thanks much. Serious packing to commence tomorrow! :woohoo:

Hi everyone ! We are getting real close to our sailing date and I don't think that I can wait any longer :)

Just a little reminder that on May 17th, wear your red top (t-shirt, blouse, polo shirt) and don't forget to join us in the main lobby at 10:30, for our official Dis group photo ! (please come, even if you don't have anything red, we do still want you in the photo !) :thumbsup2

As soon as we board, I will go to Shutters and ask for a CM to come and immortalize the moment !

Come one, come all !

See you there !!!

Where are we meeting? and remember - sometimes shutters will not come for free - but I know my DH can take the picture as well as others in the group - it is shutters loss if they will not come for free - remind them of that!!

:lovestruc We are married now!! :lovestruc

and... now we are starting packing for trip, we leave tomorrow morning at 3am.

We can't wait to relax on the cruise!

I just finished my online check in for the cruise, it made me pick my port arrival time, the earliest still avaliable was 12:30, I don't recall this from our last cruise, do they make us wait until then to check in??

I received notice today in the mail from DCL-- one page of helpful hints-
at the very bottom " Foreign Currency Exchange "
It's always a good idea to have some Euro on hand for small convenience items, taxi fares & tips. Most US banks can order foreign currency for account holders prior to their departure. There is also a currency exchange window located in our cruise terminal at the Port of Barcelona. Usually a small processing fee is associated with these types of transactions. Currency exchange is also available at Guest Services aboard the Disney Magic

we havent sailed DCL but have never had a limit on exchange on any other cruise line
I have called on this twice this week, there is only a limit on DCL IF you are using a personal check, then you are limited to $200 USD for exchange. I also verified that they will have sterling pounds for Gib, and they said yes.

are you planning on metro? is metro underground? I was wondering if doing transportation on the streets might be better for us so we can possibly see places we might want to stop at??? but I also have a list of things we think we want to do so probably metro would be fine?? it looks like with the barcelona card we can use metro & the public buses

Just be careful if the metro is underground and have a GOOD map with you as it can be a bit disconcerting when you come up from underground and all sense of direction is gone.

you are no more dorky than the rest of us on here! LOL! And what is going on with Gib? did i miss something?

Previous message said main lobby at 10:30. Is "main lobby" the name for this space on the deck plans, or is it called something else?

Could it be the Atrium ? It's the area in front on the stairs that leads to Lumiere's restaurant. It will be on May 17th at 10:30 am.

Krissann, I thought about the cost of Shutter's cast member, but I was going to use your line !!! ;) If they can make money out of this, I don't know why they wouldn't show up  !!! I have my camera as well along with my tripod that I'm bringing on the trip !
