MAY 12th-19th!! THESE ARE THE MAYS OF OUR LIVES! Part 3

$79 sounds wonderful to me, but a great rate for us is $99 each way (which it has been 2 years since we got a deal that good.) We just don't live where there is a major hub. Like Michelle said, Southwest will give you credit if it drops lower I think. Someone on here has a credit to use for their next trip. Is it Huggie or Michelle? Maybe someone else.

We fly Southwest from here to Dallas and here to Chicago and here to Phoenix. We never have problems that we do not encounter with other airlines. Mostly weather delays, thunderstorms, etc. Anytime I go to Dallas you can expect a major line of thunderstorms to come thru. I love Southwest because it is the one airline where we can get a good price.

That being said, we fly Delta to Orlando because it is the only airline that offers a non-stop from here. It is usually the best price for us too.

You do not have assigned seats on Southwest (unless this has recently changed.) Just print you boarding pass out at home as soon as it is available. You want to be in boarding group A or B. Most people however are nice and we will move so you and your kids can sit together if you cannnot find seats. If not just tell your kids to start CRYING really loud and say I want my mommy. :rolleyes1 People will definately move so you can sit by your children then!

Thanks for all the encouragement on the dress and jewelry! You guys are the best!

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Lake - I hope the party goes well!!

Sulley must be ready to leave!!! Have a great trip! Don't forget about us! :snooty:

Thanks for the info NC! I didn't realize that Southwest didn't give assigned seats. . . I wonder what the purpose of that is. How do you get in boarding group A or B? Just by being one of the first ones to print out your boarding passes at home? Would they seriously make the kids sit with strangers? I'm so confused! The flight times aren't the greatest either. We wouldn't get to Florida until 1:30pm. Then coming home we would either have to depart at 8am or 8pm. Well, last year we departed at 8am, so we had to be picked up by Magical Express at the resort around 5am, which meant getting up at 4am. Not fun! But I know DH is going to say 8pm is too late. That means we would get into Pittsburgh around 10pm, wait on our luggage, and then nearly an hour drive home. . . They have 2 other flights mid-day but the price on those went up since yesterday to $90 & $102. Oh My, what to do. . . :confused3

Welcome Luv4Disney!

:welcome:

Shelly - To get in one of the first boarding groups, you print off your boarding pass at home as soon as you are allowed to print them. I usually get group B. We have never had a problem not being with our kids on Southwest. Like I said, most people will move around so you can be together if you cannot find seats together.

We have flown with assigned seats on Delta, got bumped to another flight, everyone split up with the new seat assignments, and people on the plane moved around so each parent could be by one of the kids.

As much as WE love our kids, other people really don't want to sit by them.

I have moved before so a parent could sit by their child, and I am sure you would do the same and so will the majority of people in the world.

I would not worry about it, I just wanted to make you aware of it.

Oh, the attendants on Southwest are usually funny when they do their safety speech! I love it!

Hey Shelly, I have flown SW dozens of times. It is a no-frills type of airline. It will get you there and back. They fly smaller planes, 737s, so don't expect a lot of room or comfort. I haven't had any problems flying with them at all.

feeling a lot better... not quite there yet, but a major imrovement.
thanks for asking.

party will held tomorrow, so doing clean up around the house today... all the stuff i neglected being sick.

so has anyone seen alvin and the chpmunks... the water horse seems to be getting bad reviews... my suster suggested i take ds and his friend to that instead....

It was a great movie, so funny

OMG !! Southwest has flights both ways for $79. Should I purchase or wait???

If the times are good with you. Do it

I have the credit. I dont want any more so I am waiting for the price to come down.

Oh my, what a day! I have got myself about sick all worked up over this airfare! :headache: I left DH a message to see if coming back so late would be okay, but by the time he called back (to tell me it was okay with him) the flight down that I wanted had gone up to $102. :sad2: So now I'm like should I just wait, or book the next flight time going there, which is 2:00pm  , not really what I was looking for!

So long story short, I debated and debated (with myself :lmao: ) and just went for it! I am going to be so sick if the flight time I wanted goes back down!

So here it is: PIT to MCO May 10 - 2:00-4:15pm
And: MCO to PIT May 17 - 7:45-10:00pm

All for right around $700

We basically lost our first day now. It will probably be between 5:30-6:00pm when we reach CSR. But we gained our last day because ME won't pick us up until probably 5:00pm.

So Huggie how do I go about getting a credit if my flights go down? A credit would be good then I could talk DH into another trip!

Hey Shel!

Holy crap, man, I'm sorry I haven't been here to help out your situation! Hugs, sister.

I'm glad you got it. I think with the price of oil these days the flights aren't going to get much cheaper. I think you did okay. Not last years prices, but that's okay for what flights are going for now.

As far as SW itself, I love them! I told DH that I am now spoiled and never want to fly with anyone else. Check in was a breeze. The flight being nonstop was awesome. You will get there in time for a dinner and just relaxing at the resort. Then you can hit the ground running the next day. It will be good. You will start out fresh. :yay:

Also the credit thing is easy, I think you just call them if you see a ding or whatever and they issue credit for another travel date.
(January '09???:woohoo: ) You will then be forced to book another vacation...never a BAD thing, right???

Well, even if you ended up paying more than you wnated to, at least you have the tickets and you don't have that looming over your head. It will be better in the long run for piece of mind.

Mark never cares about price for anything. I'm always the one on the lookout for the deal of the century. He however would just rather pay full price for everything so he can be done with it. I am always holding him back, LOL.

Glad you got them. I can't wait to tell you all what I'm cookin' up... in my next post...
:rolleyes1 To Be Continued...

;)
Jo

Shelly that stinks about the prices!! At least you got flights. I check the flights RELIGIOUSLY every day after i've boooked in case they go down again, so make sure you keep an eye out for that. You can also switch to an earlier flight if those become available :) Southwest is a great airline with a lof of flexibility!

Okay, here's what I've gotten myself into, lol.

I am thinking of doing a split stay at the end of the trip and moving from POFQ to... drum roll, please...

THE POLY!!!!:scared1:

We have always wanted to stay there, but being that we have such a large family we have always been concerned with space issues. Thus, the two connecting rooms wherever we go. Even when we're not at WDW.

So I'm thinking about it last night and decided that if I Shhhhhhhh, don't tell Mark, then book it for the last two or three nights, then when we're there, he can't object. Heh, heh. Sneaky gal. We would be there for Halloween night! Wow. Fun stuff right there.:rotfl:

I'm just worried about time being eaten up with the transfer and checking in and out so many times, not to mention the packing/unpacking stuff. Oh yeah, and with Marky being unhappy, but that's beside the point. :cutie: Anyway...

I am excited about the prospect! Just another thing to keep my brain on overdrive over the weekend. Ha.

Anyone ever do a split? Tell me the good, the bad and don't leave out the nasty.:scared1:

:rolleyes1

Jo

We've done loads of split stays and they are a blast! We've even stayed at 3 resorts in one stay! It's super easy!! You do express check out (so you don't have to go to the desk!!) and then away you go for the day in the parks..why??

Because the bell services desk TRANSFERS your luggage to any disney resort for you!! They have it in your room when you arrive too! (most of the time!!) You check in after a full day of fun in the parks and bam you are all set!

Oooh I didn't know you could switch to an earlier flight!! Is there a charge for that?
Thanks for telling me!

Sounds like fun JO! I think JC did that last year but didn't like it too much.

I thought about going value 4 nights and the Poly 3 nights, but decided it would probably be too much trouble. And still more money than 7 nights at a moderate!

You never know how you'll like something until you try it! :cool1:

You make it sound so easy.:)
Do you think we would be cramped in the Poly room with the five of us? We have always fretted over space, so I'm still kicking it around. I don't want to transfer and then regret doing it and be miserable, KWIM?

Jo

Shelly, no charge for switching flights, you just have to BE POSITIVE that there is availability and that it's the same price or lower and then you cancel and switch using the credit from cancelling! :)

It's easier than it sounds and they help LOADS on the transporation boards! They wlaked me stap by step through everything!!

honestllllyyyyyy......

It will be tight, NOT cramped. There are 5 of us and you know my kids are babies and we're having secone, third and fourth thoughts about the Yacht and Beach Club because of the size of the rooms, and two rooms at pop or Coronado would be sooo much bigger Hahaha!!! but convenience is still big to us :)

That's what concerns me. I don't like the packing/unpacking aspect of it, and i don't want everyone to be cramped and miserable. One bathroom? Ugh.

The price, if I can use the pin code that I already have used for POFQ, is only a difference of less than $200 for 3 nights.

Oh what to do, what to do.

Now since you booked your flight you should check southwest religiously. I like to at least twice a day, and also check your DING.

There is no charge for changing your times as long as the price is the same. If it is cheaper you can get the credit. I changed my flight and got discounts 3 times for our December trip.

http://www.southwest.com/help/change_itin.html

Also with a ding fare you might have to cancel and rebook. Don't worry you can just call southwest and they will walk you through it.

Congrats on booking your flight. I am going to wait a couple more weeks.
