As for the dress issue...

I went to Macy's formal department and just started yanking dresses off the racks. After I had about forty draped on my arm, I went to the dressing room. Well, there were only 2 rooms and the big one was taken, and I just couldn't forsee me, my daughter and forty formal gowns in a dressing room the size of my powder room in my house. So I said to Belle, "We'll just wait for the big room to open up.""

Well, we waited and waited and finally, this little old lady that was a day older than death came creeping out of the ginormous dressing room, only to look at me and say, "I'll be back in a minute, my daughter needs to see this dress."

UGH.

About that time, my arm is falling off from the weight of the dresses and a sales lady comes and says there's a room all the way across in the fur salon, so we hauled everything over there.

I tried everything on, and found one that I liked pretty well. YAY!

And, that's when I noticed that my index finger on my left hand felt awfully light. The ring that my DH gave me for Christmas was not there!

I almost threw up.

Shelly-

They sell Disney dollars at our D. Store...

Go buy the boys some before May!

I use them as allowance.

one of our absolute favorite places to vacation.
PEI is so quaint and laid back. we have rented cottages there, and DH and BIL golf while my sister and I and our kids tour and shop and swim in the ocean. if you are an anne of green gables fan, its a must.

I am a very well travelled canadian, as my parents used to pack us in the car in the summer and literally drive all over this vast country. and now DH and I are always going somewhere as well. so feel free to ask me any questions, I would love to help. I love travelling and introducing people to Canada in any way I can.

Lake:worship: You have been to PE Island (the gentle island)....did you drive? on the 9 mile bridge? or take the ferry? I would love to rent a cottage for a week and just explore
Anne of Green Gable
Anne of Avonlea
and the series Road to Avonlea all seven seasons! and I bought all seven. :wizard:
It was the scenery in the Avonlea series that made me fall in love with PE.

i have visited several times, sometimes driving from ontario and taking the ferry across, and sometimes flying into Charlottetown.

Dh says to tell you that if your Dh golf, the island has some phenominal golf courses that are world class.

AHHH!! a fellow avonlea lover yahhh!!!
Then you will have to make the drive from cavendish (where Green Gables is) along the northshore through the national park to Dalvay by the Sea . It is the hotel that was used for the White Sands Hotel in both the movie and the television series. (where Gus and Felix worked). I love just sitting on the lawn and dreaming.:cloud9:

Whew...
Sorry for the "As the Stomach Turns" dramatic exit!

The kids were trying to kill one another and I had to intervene.

Okay, so I said "Belle! Mommie's ring is gone!" and bless her baby heart, she fell onto the floor and started looking all over the place for it. We pulled all of the dresses off of their hangers and went through each of them and I dumped my entire pocketbook onto the floor.

Nothing.

I started hyperventilating...literally. Belle said "It's okay, Mommie, Daddy will buy you a new one." Precious innocence.

I said "well, baby, we'd better pray we can find it." So, I know with all of the things in life that people ask God for, me finding my ring was not to high on His list, but I thought I'd try, so a fervent prayer went up to Him anyway.

I thought I'd better go look on the other side where the original dressing room with slow-poke Granny was and as I walked to the entrance, I looked down, and it was right in the middle of the floor... right where people were coming in and out of the dressing room! Anyone could have stepped on it and been one rich person!

WHEW!!!!!!! So all in all, I got a dress that's snazzy and I kept my ring that Dh gave me.

Oh, and I had to go to the licensing place twice, because the computers were down.

I told myself they just enjoyed me so much that they wanted me to come back, Ha.;)

Sorry for the diatribe, just wanted to chat.

Love your writing skills...great story and a happy ending....:)

Jo- That is great that you found the ring. Oh boy that is scary. Also, glad you got a dress. I have to get to macy's this weekend for a dress for a fundraiser for dh's job. I searched in Lord and taylor but found nothing.

yes i have been to green gables, and the island has several lighthouses that were used for the filming of the shows. some can be visited, some are still working lighthouses and are canadian government property.
the whole island itself can be driven across in a few hours, so its not hard to see everything you want to.

Green Gables, is different than as it appeared in the shows.
most of the filming for the movie and avonlea when it came to the town, building interiors and the farms and homes , was done in uxbridge ontario north of toronto. all the ocean and true avonlea scenes were shot on the island.

sorry - hope that doesn't hurt the picture you have in your head.
it doesnt for me...i still love it all

Thanks JC!

Huggie,
Do you need just a cocktail type dress?

I went to a party in Feb. and needed a dress and got one from Macy's then as well. They usually have wonderful things on the clearance rack, but I paid full price for the one today. Not bad-- $150. I was prepared to pay a LOT more!

Lake--

I visited Niagara-On-The-Lake a few years ago. I was stunned by the cleanliness of your country! It's like everything changes as soon as you cross the border.

DH has gone to Quebec and stayed at that famous hotel. Can't remember the name...Chateau something? Looks like the place in Epcot!

I would love to go there myself!

Very Cool!
