Erik - Great story. You have every right to brag a little.

Ken

Erik - That is such a nice article about you and a great picture. Now you are famous!!! None of us are surprised - your personality, zest for life, and kind heart would make you stand out in any crowd. Congrats!

Erik! Wonderful article.

We have a bit of the same philosophy on volunteering which may be why we get along so well!

Congrats!!

Debbie

Hey guys, I've been absolutely swamped here and I think I missed Padalyns entire visit to DL.

Just got a chance to get caught up and read Erik's article - Man Erik, how do you have time to vacation????

Yes, the ear has been driving me nuts (or as Debbie said "driving me over the edge!") There have been all these little things that I can't hear or don't notice. But things like the dryer sound or the neighborhood lawnmowers have been driving me nuts. I go back next week to have a hearing test to see how much fluid is still in there and what to do next - UGH. I hate flying!!! I'm dreading getting back on a plane again.

Hey has anyone ever heard from Elizabeth Txaggie?

It looks like a lot of hot weather around the country - are all of you holding up?

Hey Kelly - you did miss it!! But I have to say - we had a wonderful time!!

We did the Walking in Walt's Footsteps tour - and we got to ride the Lilly Belle car on the train (rare opportunity I am told!)

Then Stacey's foot got sprained - so in the true silver lining thing (thank you Erik!) she ended up in a wheelchair. Great exercise, a lot tiring, but got us to the front of the line for EVERY ride! We waiting a whopping 20 minutes for Nemo!! They did a great job of that refurb...I reccommend it!!

We also did a lot of lanyard trading - I mangaed to get almost 10 pooh pins I didn't have..so that was great!

Lunch at Club 33 was a little disappointing, the food quality has gone down a bit. We are glad we got the opportunity, but won't be going again. I will post a few pictures when I get the whole mess sorted out.

We also met up with a couple that we met on the cruise - we wandered around DCA all day and saw the Aladdin show - oh my, we were crying from laughing so hard. The Genie they have right now is so funny!!!

Then we had to fly home on the red eye...so, I am back to work and missing Disney already...

7 weeks to go until the next trip....just trying to get all the photos done is so much work...I am still on the med cruise, then I have to get them all uploaded to the online photo album...maybe by Christmas????

Watch out for the rough weather out here....this moring there was flooding on the TOP of the high areas in my town.

Kelly, I am soo sorry to still hear your ear is brothering you. I had a similar situation with my ear on a flight from lax to mco. Man the pain was incredible but once they popped it I was fine again. Think Positive Thoughts and it will work out!

Is anyone else going to be at the pin event at WDW during Sept?

I will not be using my third RSP if anyone is absolutely dying to have pins from this event - PM me to work out the details.

Hi everyone

We are heading down to Long Beach tomorrow for a pro beach volleyball tournament. Our son is playing - he will play at least two matches tomorrow and then hopefully play again on Saturday. Two wins tomorrow would be great.

Have a great weekend!

Hey Karen, I sent you an email. Did you get it?

Well Frontier Days kicked off yesterday, We will be going to the parade today and maybe a rodeo tomorrow. Big air show on Wednesday , will be kewl to see the Thunderbirds.

Still moving stuff to the barn from the basement, when that gets done, will have to paint the garage floor and then start on finishing the basement. Lots to do but we are making progress.

Have a great weekend All.

Hadley, how nice of you to ask about me. I returned Sunday night from Singapore, but between horrible jet lag and trying to settled in to real life, I have not been on the computer much. Singapore was AMAZING. I really enjoyed my time there alone with Scott. Okay, just without the kids, because we DID spend time with some very interesting people. I just think the world with all it's different cultures is COOL. I love Asia and want to see so much more. It's like I've just had an appetiser, and I now I want the whole meal!

We had the opportunity to get a personal tour from a friend of ours who grew up in the Chinatown area of Singapore. While she was telling me of all the sights and sounds of living in that very Chinese community where chickens and snakes were slaughtered on the street and whole families were then living in one room, I realized that at that same time, I was growing up on the other side of the world in North Carolina, being integrated with the black children in our town. What a difference, and what a blessing to share our childhoods.

I tried durian fruit. Boy, does that stink! I can't say I love it, but I didn't hate it, ate it all, and felt very brave for having done it! I also ate the best food I'd ever had--Chinese, Indian, Malasian. They know how to eat there! I bought a bunch of their spice packets to TRY and recreate some of the wonerful dishes.

DAnn, That sounds so nice! What a great trip.

How's the weather across the country for everyone?

We're still deep in a remodle of the office which has created more dust and mess than I can imagine the new office will look like. Inlaws in town for a short visit.

Hadley, is D still with you?

Hi Ken!

How were the volleyball matches? I was doing some long distance rooting! :cheer2:

Hi Georgie

They won their first match on Friday and then lost their second match (to the eventual tournament winners). Then on Saturday, they won their first match again, but lost the second. So they finished in 13th place. Not bad, but not has high a finish as they would have liked.

The next tournament is in Chicago in two weeks.

Thanks for asking!
Ken

Hey all! Just a quick check-in. In 48 hours we will be at the Salt Lake City airport headed to Dublin, Ireland and then on to Barcelona to get on the Magic on the 18th! Won't be the same without all of you guys though. But we do finally get a family vacation with Jamie (dd-15). And to top it off, in the summer! Rarely do we get a chance to do that with Robert's work schedule and Jamie's performance schedule. Me? I just take the time off whenever!

Hey DEBBIE-I forgot to ask.....Did Peter's gift make it okay in his stateroom? Never heard...............

Yes it did :rotfl: :rotfl: But someone didn't take a picture of it in their room :confused3 :rotfl2: They even brought it home!

Hi everybody, I haven't posted for a long time, but I check in from time to time. I just got back from a quick 10 day trip to England to visit friends, and Chuck leaves tomorrow for 3 weeks. He's going to help at a friends business.

Hunter's Creek (where we live) is hosting it's second annual Relay For Life in November and my women's group is having a team this year. Anyway, I need some innovative ideas for a name! We are called the Hunter's Creek Women's Association (HCWA for short). So the name would be HCWA..........something. It might help to know what we do. We bake for the firement and policemen, have 2 fundraisers every year to donate to our local schools, women's shelters, families at the holidays, etc.

So anybody got any fun, kicky names to suggest? All I can think of is HCWA Volunteers......but that kind of sounds like a Revolutionary War militia.

Come on everbody, give me some ideas! :cheer2: Connie

Hi All,
It's nice to see so many of you posting. Deanna and Connie I'm really glad to see you both and know you are both doing okay. Deanna--that sounds like quite a trip.
Ken--hope the Chicago tournamnet goes really well.
Peter--No construction down your way? Man, you outta be you here! I'll keep my fingers crossed that things pick up for you soon (besides it would be nice if SOME of the people stayed in Mass:rotfl: )
Scott--How was Frontier Days? I remember heading up for that every year as a child. Is it still a huge draw for the entire area?
Kelly--D left a week ago today and it only just feels like we are recovered! I think you'll appreciate a comment by the coordinator for our area. She and her husband were chaperoning the bus on the way back to NYC and she commented how happy she was that she got to be on the way back this year. She said the first year she did it she chaperoned both ways and she oculd not belives the difference in the kids in the two weeks. On the way up they are all so full of their street attitude and posturing for each other and to cool/tough to listen to the adults, etc. And two weeks later, the very same kids (even though they are headed to NYC again and are all together again) are mellow (tired I am sure) and talking excitedly about Storyland and kids' movies and things they would have been way too cool for on the ride up. So now she (and apparently just about all the chaperones) always tries to get the ride back.
Friday our exchange student from Germany arrrives. I thought I'd have a mellow week in between to get ready but that was not meant to be:sad2: I am playing coorporate wife entertaining the wife of an exec. who is in town. I usually like this role--it is fun to show people this lovely area, but this lady only wants to go antiquing (yikes--I didn't know where to even go and noone at the cast party Sunday did either--luckily a friend of hers told her of an area she knew of some shops in) which is not my cup of tea, and much worse she brings up politics ALL THE TIME and we sit on very oppostie sides of that fence. We have dinner with the couple tonight and I am actually hoping the guys talk about work (that is a first for me).
