Hey all! Just a quick check-in. In 48 hours we will be at the Salt Lake City airport headed to Dublin, Ireland and then on to Barcelona to get on the Magic on the 18th! Won't be the same without all of you guys though. But we do finally get a family vacation with Jamie (dd-15). And to top it off, in the summer! Rarely do we get a chance to do that with Robert's work schedule and Jamie's performance schedule. Me? I just take the time off whenever!

Hey DEBBIE-I forgot to ask.....Did Peter's gift make it okay in his stateroom? Never heard...............

Yes it did :rotfl: :rotfl: But someone didn't take a picture of it in their room :confused3 :rotfl2: They even brought it home!

Have a great time on your cruise. Any scrapbooking:laughing: What will you do with all that room in the luggage

Deb

Linda--have a GREAT trip (I know you will).

Well Marika managed to fall at gymnastics and break her wrist today. Gymnastics is actaully closer to the Concord Urgent Care than to our local ER, so we went there (good as they are really good there). The 2 1/2 hours we were at Urgent Care with Marika in a lot of pain (they had NOTHING to give--Tylenol would have done it) and both boys (D's still here) seemed like forever. Dave was unreachable until almost the end (turns out he was at a meeting in one of the towns that has no cell reception--yep still exists out here) so I had to have the boys with me the entire time. When we walked out of the ER at 6:30 we were all famished so I made the executive decision to take the kids to Outback (close to ER and one of Marika's favourites). Tomorrow I have to call the orthopedist and take her down for the cast (it's in a splint now). I cannot leave D with anyone who hasn't had a background check through Fresh Air, so I will have both boys there again (no sense in leaving only Rio behind--he's easy anyway). At least this time we will hopefully move faster as we will have an appt., Marika will be in a lOT less pain (it is now imoblized and she's on Tylenol) and I will know ahead of time that we will be going so I can pack entertainments and snacks!

Hadley - Sorry to hear about Marika's wrist. I guess this means she'll get more time to read. ;)

Linda - have a good trip. Looking forward to hearing all about it when you get back.

So that means you don't have to start packing for another 46 hours - right?
:rotfl2:

Have a great trip!!!
Ken

I was telling Shari yesterday on the phone that it was amazing. All my stuff is packed and in one suitcase. Just have to pack last minute stuff and pack Robert's stuff tonight. Jamie finished her's last night.

I told Shari that I had so much room since I wasn't hauling 3 suitcases of scrapbook stuff with me! :lmao:

We will only be travelling with 4 suitcases total and one carry on! And one of the suitcases is halfway empty, I have left plenty of room for souvenirs!

Darn. I wanted to see a picture!

Funny, I read your post after I responded to Ken about how much more room I have! :cool1:

Linda have a great time, and don't think about any of us who will be insanely envious of you!

Hadley, so sorry to hear about Marika's wrist. Hope everything goes okay, good luck tomorrow.:cool1:

Thank you for the well wishes. And Chris  you're posting! I love to see you posting.

Marika is doing just great. I shelled out the extra dough for her to get a gor-tex cast so she can still swim, etc. this summer. She chose a blue cast to match her karate belt:rotfl2: and even felt like going to karate yesterday. It is still a bit sore but over all she is just fine. I am just hoping now it heels in the first part of the 4-8 week window they gave us. Week 8 we are at WDW and I think it would be nice if she were cast free there.

Marika, OUCHY- sorry to hear that news.

Chris - are you just burning up?

And how about all of you on the east coast?

Linda, have a great trip - I PM'd a reminder to you - you won't regret taking only one bag - wish we'd done that. We will do that on the next trip or else!!!!!

Oh by the way for those of you keeping track, after 34 days of being home my ear is about 80% open finally. I'm dreading getting on a plane again.

Been there, done that on the ears. Later today, remind me to tell you about what the ENT said for DD's ears.

Linda - bon voyage!!! Have a great trip!

Marika - Ouch! Glad mom got ya a KEWL cast though!

Scott - 72 hours?! :faint: I hope you have some sleep worked into your weekend schedule some place ...

Chris - how's that "dry" heat?:rotfl2: The temps have been pretty impressive!

Erik - glad to see you posting again

Hi All!

Beautiful day here in Ohio. Dry and 76 degrees with a nice breeze. Thank goodness for that!!!! We don't have a "dry heat" here :)

Busy day ahead. Graduation party for my cousin. Then a birthday party for a friend. Luckily they are very close to each other so I can hit both of them.

It ends a busy week at work. But not nearly as busy as Scott's.

Have a great trip Linda!!

:grouphug: To Marika. I broke my wrist at age 12 falling off a horse so I know where she is at!

Kelly - I can not imagine having my ears blocked like that. It would send me over the edge.

Everyone have a great day!!

Debbie

Hey all,

It is like a rain forest here in Orlando. Hot, humid and rainy.

I took my sister and her girls (who are here from Minnesota) to Jetty Park to see the cruise ships sailing. The only ship to have a deck party loud enough for us to hear it; DCL!!!

We were lucky to see lots of Manatees, turtles (babies and adults) and giant crabs. It's funny, my nieces have never heard of a Manatee. (I guess I'm so used to every child here in FL talk about them)

Hi Kelly, glad your ear is getting better.

What happen to out post-cruise party? Kissimmee, Cquick??????

:
:rotfl: Yeah, it's supposed to make it better, that it's a "dry heat", right? Actually to be honest with you, I don't really mind it. I'm indoors working for 10 hours during the hottest part of the day. And I always say, no matter how hot the days are, the desert nights are gorgeous. And the thing about summers here is, everywhere you go, they BLAST the air conditioner SO high, that we'll sit in an afternoon movie and have to bring a Disney fleece because it's so cold! Then we can't wait to actually get back outside and sit in the car with the windows up for five minutes just to warm up! :cool1:

Don't worry about us here, we'll make it through the heat, as bad as it is.

On a different note, we actually did the first part of our photos project tonight! I know, I know, many of you already have your scrapbooks and slideshows done. We had a slight delay as we wanted to finish a project started last fall before we took on this one, and we finished the other one last weekend. So tonight after work, we started organizing our 2114 pictures so we can make our video DVD slideshow. It should take about a month, but it will be so much fun to go through and relive the memories again!

My Gma lived in the desert and we spent many a summer vacation growing up in the "dry heat":rotfl2: . You are absolutely right about the desert nights:thumbsup2 . The springtime wildflowers are pretty darn amazing too.

Have fun with the scrapbook video:banana:  !

Kelly--eek on the ears. You poor, poor thing we all haev isseus with ours but none that have lasted THAT long z(other than the time the plane's door did not seal properly and we had to come back and fix it becasue the cabin wasn't pressurizing properly). Is it always this bad for you when you fly?

Chris--It is good there are people like you in the world for whom hte heat is no biggie. I am so NOT one of those people (now a New England winter, on the hand, I am good with). Oh, and after making albums for htree family members of the 2005 cruise we all took together, I STILL have not cropped my own photos from that trip--so you are light years ahead of me.

Has anyone heard from Deanna lately? Did she already head off to Barcelona???? And more troublesome, I have not seen anything from Connie in a week or more. I am worrying about Michael. Has anyone heard from her? Hopefully she is just busy and the MRI came back fine. This is what I am looknig for someone to tell me.

OK...so many of you know that the past couple weeks have been tumultuous for me....but as you probably all know, negatives are very often balanced out with positives in life (it's that whole "one door closing and another one opening" phenomenon!:cool1: ).

Anyhow...something good DID happen for me recentlly so I'm giving myself permission to brag about myself for just a moment.....:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Below is a link to a story that was written up about me in our main Rochester newspaper today. The paper was doing a feature who give back to their community and whose efforts inspire community activism and volunteerism. I think it's a pretty nice piece and I'm pretty proud of the article and the fact that they chose to profile me..... so I thought I'd brag a little!
