DL was Africa hot today!!!!!!

Although everyone from out of state kept telling me how beautiful our weather is!

Welcome Aboard Mom Rules, glad to have a neighbor to the north join us.

It's funny how well they do the Africa Hot think at WDW at the AK, gotta give it to Disney to make things as real as possiable. :lmao:

Good morning everyone. Hope everyone has a great day. The weather on the coast has finally cleared up - no fog in over a week - I do enjoy waking up to blue skies and sunshine so much better. :sunny:

Ken and I are taking a little trip to the Mouse House today (don't tell the bosses :cool1: ) to meet up with Angie and Dennis (Mrs.Mork) from Oregon. Won't have a lot of time to play around in the park but enough time for lunch and a visit.

About 1 hr west of Toronto!

Very cool, like I said Toronto is one of the places we like to visit often for short trips....and my best friend is a PhD in film studies and just got a tenure track teaching position at the University of Western Ontario in the Department of Film Studies...so they're moving up there later this summer because he starts teaching in the fall!

I soooooooooooo envy all of you who talk about weekly trips to DW or DL or just jaunting over for lunch or a quick visit......we live so far away that any trip to "the world" is a big orchestration....and we've never even BEEN to "the land"!!! (we actually aren't even Annual Passholders because even though we're DVC owners....we still tend to take one long trip rather than a number of short trips so we always just end up buying Magic Your Way Passes.)

We also usually do only one trip a year, it costs so much to fly out of Jackson to anywhere. We found that it was cheaper to buy an annual pass if you were going into the parks more than 10 days, (that was on the old price structure, we have not recalculated for the new price structure). And we plan our vacations so that we would get 2 years out of one annual pass (first trip in December, the next year we would go in October). The other plus to this is that if we end up going on a cruise, we had the passes to hit the parks for a day or two before or after. Just something to think about.
Lynn
PS There is even a DVC discount on annual passes now.

Hi all, Let us know when you guys are down here visiting we'd love to get together for a churro and ride to say hello.

Those of you from lands so very far away, PM me if you are headed out... we'd be happy to give you the royal tour of the magic kingdom and all the secrets we know. Kelly

Hey all, What are you looking forward to buying and where (ports) on this trip?

Honeslty I haven't given it much thought....I usually spend all our souvenir money buying tigger paraphernalia in the parks that i can't afford anythign on the cruise :cool1:

honestly though we collect colored glass vases and bowls and i'm very into geometric modern art...so in barcelona we may find some fun housewares!

My SIL does something similar with her annual passes. For example: They'll buy the 3rd week of June this year and come out to DL the first week of June next year. So, they get two weeks each totalling 4 weeks of fun.

Ken and Shari, thanks for coming down to visit with us. What a great treat to see you two again! :grouphug: Hopefully we will get in at least 2 or 3 more DL trips before the repro.

Just bought a pile of tour books for Canary Is and Spain-big shopper here! I love the thrill of the hunt.
I'll let you know if I find out any good little shopping tips!

OOOOOO! Shopping tips! I'm all ears! :listen:

Yay it is the weekend!! :cool1:

I updated the webpage with our new member :) And a few links. The Canary Islands are lacking any links and Cadiz needs some more info. Click on the link in my signature to see the page.

There is a thread on the main page about Barcelona and I will look at some of those to add.

Next week is our garage sale. Hope to make enough for a shore excursion! Not sure about what I am looking to buy. Not really a shopper, but will try and get something small from each port.

Debbie

Nikki, Thanks for the websites, those pictures of the area are beautiful! That was helpful.

I'm looking to buy:
An Italian purse
An Italian tie
We will have just missed the Formula One races in Barcelona and Monaco, so I'm hoping to get some item from the races.
Food and cooking items esp. Olive Oil, dried pasta.
Italian and French versions of Harry Potter for my DS who will be taking care of the cat!
Food, Food, Food... I love food, cooking, cooking utencils (you'd never guess how small I am when you see me for all the food) - my problem is I want to try food everywhere in each city, but I love the food on the ship and don't want to miss meals on the ship either! Yes, I will be working out a lot. pooh:
