I wouldn't know how to use that either. What I bought was for electricity rather than money. I am hoping that all I really have to do is plug it into one of the adaptors Mom is sending and plug it into the wall. If it's not that easy, I'm in trouble.

Lori
Unless your appliance has a dual voltage setting, you will also need a converter. The adaptor just allows you to plug it in (and fry it). This is something they stressed over and over to us while I was in the tour director school. However, they did say that most hotels will have some on hand for you to borrow.

(my Puck costumes all have wings because I love fairy wings!)

Oh Erik...somehow that just doesn't sound right coming from a gay man....:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

One can us a system like an iGo also -it is a converter, one just needs the plug adapter. I am taking a surge strip along for use on the ship, I have to go to Radio Shack tonight (from an earlier post today) to get the adapters. My iGo will charge most of the electronics. (camcorder and camera battery excluded unfortunately!)

Were are on Deck 7 #7128... on DVC points and I doubt if an upgrade will happen, folks on DVC Points don't seem to fall into the upgrade Catagory. We like the Cat 7s. esp when we bring dive gear, the cat 7 veranda is great for drying stuff out. I did try fro a Cat 3 but they were not available.

:thumbsup2 great.. we made out better this time not using points.. but you never know next cruise is august we used points for that. tinker won't bring his dive gear, he said to much trouble for him.. so he will have to snorkel this time... or rent.. see you real soon....:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

I use a similar system from Kensington. Works great - one charger for six different electronic items - plus it works on airplanes that provide in seat power. Very cool.

THE OFFICIAL DISBOARD SCRAPBOOK CLASS ON TAKING THE MAGIC TO THE MED!

I usually teach a class (all skill levels invited) on the cruises I go on.
I bring all the supplies, and we put whatever I have come up with together during the class. It will be held on a sea day. The book is themed after "Taking the Magic to the Med"

What: Official Scrapbook Class

When: Wednesday May 16th at 11:30 a.m. (will last about 1 1/2 hours) (if you happen to have brunch at Palo's that morning, no worries, just come late)

Where: either Promenade Lounge, Animator's Palatte or other location I can talk the ship in to letting me use.

What are we doing?: I am so excited. I have been able to score some 8 x 8 scrapbooks this time for a steal of a price. You can choose either a red cover or lime green. We will be doing approximately 14 pages and it will take about 1 1/2 hours - 2 hours to complete. It will be EASY! Don't let the project scare you away. If you have wanted to learn to scrapbook, this is the class for you.

Cost: $8.00 donation (In the past, I haven't charged for the class. But if you can help defray the costs of the scrapbook and the supplies, that would be great.)

How do I sign up? PM me with your info. Disboard name, stateroom number and your first name so I know who is coming. Also, tell me if you prefer the bright red scrapbook or the lime green.

Deadline: How about May 1st? I will need to ship all the stuff to the ship so I don't have to haul it all across the country.

Any questions, ask away!

Disboard Mini-Navigator: seaulater will be printing our own mini-navigator with our groups activities and the information from the cruise list. Will be available at the first meet on May 12. If anyone is celebrating a birthday, anniversary, honeymoon, etc., PM seaulater so she can add it to the mini-navigator. Need person's first name, (disboard name if they have one), the date, etc. etc.

Bible study, Bringing God on Vacation: 11am first sea day, location to be determined - organized by eller (Lori).

1/2 way accross the Atlantic party: hosted by Scott H - time and place to be determined.

Tea with Wendy: This event has been cancelled. If you are still interested in attending a "Tea with Wendy" please check with Guest Services after boarding.

Barcelona Magic Fountains: Come one, come all - to a FREE excursion before we set sail out of Barcelona. Kids, Cocker Spaniels (and their owners), adults and those in between are all welcome! SweetSue from the May 26th 11 Day cruise is putting together a group for this fun activity.

FRIDAY EVENING, May 25th: Enjoy the light, water and music show of the Magic Fountain! Show begins at 8pm and runs every 30 minutes until midnight. Time for our meet is 8PM. We will meet at the base of the fountain near the steps to the Museu National d'Art Catalunya. Take the Metro (or go by foot) to Placa Espanya. Go through the tall columns following the small water fountains until you reach the big oval Magic Fountain. We'll meet on the far side closest to the steps of the museum. Look for wild and crazy DISer's speaking English (it's kind of hard to miss a DIS group).

PM sweetsue with your names if you plan to attend.

Great news. BP? Well, we are growing older. (but not up, right?)

Couldn't be the job, a move, 50-60 hours a week. Not to mention my fear of needles, knowing there is a blood draw, and the older guy exam, tooK off a noon today, actually the whole office bugged out early.

Had lunch with Lynn bought new crocs for this trip, did a dog walk, payed bills..... need a Jimmy Concert tomorrow.

I went to Alaska a few years back (has it been 4 years already???) and the person I was traveling with took a carryon bag JUST FOR ALL THE CHARGERS for his electronic toys...I said I could never do that...well, the iGo solved a lot of it - it charges the phone, pda, and laptop. Now, if I could just find a tip for the batteries...(not going to happen I guess since they are all drop in chargers not "plug in type"). I am going to pick up the tip for the iPod today...one more cable to leave home!

My iGo is an older one - will not charge a p4 laptop (70mA), so if I buy a new laptop I will have to get a new block as well. Luckily all the tips transfer :) My iGo works in cars, planes, trains and walls. I great idea whose time is here!

How do you like the Kensington system? I was a little concerned with that one since the tips are pretty hard to find, and they don't support a lot of the different manufacturers. have you had any trouble wiht it?

BP up? Well, I went to the doctor on Monday and mine had sky rocketed enought that they put me on meds. I tried to tell them it was my vacation making me crazy, but they figured out it was white coat syndrome! Came home and my BP plummeted. :confused3 Since I didn't get any older this year, I know it wasn't that!!!!:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Thanks, Ken.

Also, I'm semi officially done with work and on full time vacation prep!!!

Hadley, No I haven't heard of it. We work exclusively in CA schools, but we have connections to schools all over the country. So, I can always find out info.

So far so good. I have tips for my Dell laptop, ipod, gameboy, cell phone, and pda (both HP Ipaq and Palm Treo). The tips are hard to find in stores, so I ended up getting them online from Kensington. It's a 120w powerpack with car and plane adapter. I don't like the cheap little carrying case it came with - still have to find a better one.

Glad to hear that!! I found a great little thing at Target one day - have tried many since, but love this thing - it is a shower kit!!!

The little pouches hold the heavy block and it's wires, the zipper section holds all the ziplink cables (null modem etc), and the elastic bands hold the tips. There is a second zipper area that is flat that has the wireless card (old laptop) and a few other flat items. It cost around 12.00. The best money I have spent - keeps it all snug and well protected, and does not look computer-ish. When I pack it in the checked luggage it just looks like a shower kit to the eye.

I looked for it on Target.com - didn't see it, I will send a pic if you are interested. I can actually hold the 2 extra batteries I have for the laptop as well and the folding keyboard in this thing. and it is pretty small (10"x8"x3") even fits a discus in the outer pouch.

I do find the tips are hard to locate as well - Radio Shack carries iGo, as to a few other retailers - but I also have ordered them from iGo.

Here is another tip, travel socks for those long flights, some call them compression socks, found them at Walmart before our last trip and they were as good as my expensive pair.

Good idea about the shower kit! I will be at target over the weekend and check them out. Thanks!

Wasn't there a DL meet planned for May 6th? I have it on my calendar, but haven't heard anything more about it. I think it was because Scott was going to be out here. Is that correct? If it is still on, where and when are we meeting?

I do not have Harry Potter reserved. I always pick it up at Costco or BJs that first day and it works well for me:thumbsup2 . The best was when 4 came out and Hank and Jan were visiting and Dave had a trip to Chicago I was accompanying him on without the kids in tow. I had to be REALLY good and not read it on the weekend as it was the first time since Marika had been born Dave and I had that kind of alone time. But, on Monday he went to the convention and I stayed in the hotel ALL DAY, ordered room service for lunch and read the entire novel without interruptions:cloud9:

Do you think Marika would like Harry Potter more if Dave and I didn't insist on calling her Hermione??!!?? Kinda bugs her a bit, but OMG she is so that personality.:rotfl:

I do the same, but I go with a friend to Costco and then we go to Starbucks to read in peace -- away from the families.

I can't wait to meet Marika! She sounds wonderful! :)

Any guess of what percentage of DIS'er's are on the sailing? I'm guessing at least 20%.

:confused3 :confused3

Has anyone gotten their doc's but not all of them?

We are missing doc's for 1 room for the Med. 26th sailing. How weird, you would think that those two rooms would come together and maybe the repo doc's would come separate, but to have the repo and 1 room come together and the other room come separately?
:rolleyes1

We got ours in three batches. One set for me alone. One set for Dh and boys. And then DD's came seperatly too, but that was because we added her later.

Unless your appliance has a dual voltage setting, you will also need a converter. The adaptor just allows you to plug it in (and fry it). This is something they stressed over and over to us while I was in the tour director school. However, they did say that most hotels will have some on hand for you to borrow.

What I bought is an (electricity) currency converter, rather than the (money) currency converter; although I'd like one of those. DH spent so much time watching the airfare prices, I think he's got the exchange rate down. :thumbsup2

I fly back on the 5th, I thought we were planning one for in Sept around the 1/2 marathon.

Ok, seriously, I am charging my camcorder and going to try and record it tonite. One it will give me practice and two, NO ONE WILL BELIEVE ME if I don't have documented proof!!! It's like spotting Big Foot...sounds interesting, and people believe you saw something AnD they just think you need to get new glasses!!!

Maybe I can get an online account and I can post the more interesting parts, like the flapping girl, the loooooooooooong drawn out periods of dead silence, and then people who just walk off stage because they don't know their lines.

I will see what I can do so we can ALL enjoy the experience first hand!!!

Warning - I will NOT be responsible for people who slip into comas, experience retenal burning, busting a gut laughing, or inadvertantly flushing out their sinuses because liquid comes out their nose while watching this 'production'.

:lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2: Laura - your descriptions are hilarous - I'd love to see any snipets you can post or even read the online account. Another day with a great laugh!! I really can't wait for this vacation to start!!:yay:
