Geez, I take a day off and there are 12 pages of posts!!!

STOP POSTING SO I CAN CATCH UP!!!!!!!!!!:lmao: :rotfl:

Debbie--Thanks for keeping up tih the list--it must be a nightmare to update about now.

Kelly--Thanks for the idea to call and split the ressies. We already did that yesterday (very diplomatically we think and nicely--we know we have no right to demand anything) as soon as we realized so many other people were getting the higher upgrades. No dice. We were initialy told that no one with more than 3 people in a cabin got upgraded past an 11. Pointed out had we had "freinds" who had (did not think we should say DIS). Also let them know we could put one kid in each cabin if that would help (instead of 4 and 2). Even gave them, the sob stories that our first two DCLs we missed Castaway Cay. I hope having that call reocorded on our ressie helps rather than hurts if they do any future upgrades. I am comming to grips with it. It will be nice to be near Hank and Jan for a change (in the 4 cruises we have taken with them I can't remember ever even being on the same deck before) and it will be nice and quiet down at the end of the hallway.

we are a party of 4 and got upgraded to a cat 10...i wonder why they would upgrade the parties of 1 and 2 people to the larger cabins with windows instead of the parties with 3 or 4 people which could use a little more room? i was wondering how IC determined which people got which cabin....i thought maybe they did it based on when we converted to a cat12 GTY....maybe they had a list in order of when we signed up for cat 12 and gave away the better cabins first to those who had been GTY the longest??? :confused3

i am happy with our room (although gydell i am STILL JEALOUS!!!!)...but part of me was wishing for a window......

any of you that cruise the repos before...any idea how much an upgrade at the port costs??? will it be double what it is for a 7 day????

also, once you go past security and check in, can you leave the port building? i was thinking of getting up early and waiting with you guys but not with my kiddos...i was wondering if i could leave the building and meet my family later in the am outside....

Elizabeth, where are you staying again? You could drive over with us in the morning and have your family meet you later if you want. We'll be at the All Star (DD will be driving, much slower than if we drove ourselves) but you are welcome to come with us.

3. What's your favorite onboard activity? The cooking classes
They have cooking classes!!! Oh I am all over this one!! I just love to cook and of course eat what I cook but that is another story. OK I have to know how I sign up for these.

I have been to Curaco about 6 times with one of my old companies. It is a very nice place to visit. One of the things I woudl love to do is to get a cruise back down to Curaco to visit again. There is or was, a nice little Indonesian restaurant that does a 40 sampler meal for 4. The best meal I have ever had. 40 little tiny smaples of heaven in one sitting.

I will get back there some day.

Cheers!!

Pat

If IC has any rhyme or reason we sure can't figure it out. We booked our gty 12 on Feb 17. I am pretty sure several people who got larger rooms dropped down later and some hadn't booked anything until later. Some who have larger roosm seems to be first time cruisers on DCL--then again others have been on DCL more than us. Who knows?

If I get another upgrade I will let you have the room! If not you can come visit. I never thought that by complaining to DCL about a free upgrade that they would give me a better room!

Hi Debbie,

Our party of 2 just got bigger - my daughters couldn't bear us to have another Disney cruise without them !

John and I have changed rooms so that we are next door to Lindsay and her husband, but Sarah has booked a cat 12 GTY room as I could only get 2 rooms at our rate. Its a shame she'll be so many floors below us. We'll be running around a lot this cruise.

Sarah is going to e-mail you all our info so you can update the cruise list.

Its panic stations here now, I am still washing clothes from last weeks cruise - can't believe I have another so soon - think Disney ship must have something in the water to make me loose my mind and book another.

Changing jobs Monday, so stress of a new boss, new staff, and a holiday to arrange and shop for is unbelievable. (still have to decide on date we are coming to Orlando, flights etc). :scared1:

Will have to try hard and not become addicted to the dis boards now

Part of it has to do with how many people are in your cabin. Not all rooms will sleep 4, some will only sleep a max of 3. So it is easier to move the 2 people in a room around to get the 4 people in a room that will actually sleep 4 people.

As for upgrading at the port, I asked this on the main cruise board and have heard $300 - $400 or $700 & $800. It just depends on the category you are in at the time you check in, and how many many categories you want to go up, not the category you booked in. Example:
I booked and paid for a 12, got assigned a Cat 9. I want to upgrade to a Cat 5. That is going up 4 Categories, not 7. Also remember that the upgrade is usually a flat rate per cabin, NOT per person. So when you hear $500 to upgrade, ask if that is per person or for all of you, it should be for all of you...

I hate to be a nerd about it, but I woule LOVE to see his power point presentation! I can't wait to have him explain to me all about the binder! I have a very messy folder in my file drawer labeled Travel, and everything just goes in there. My biggest worry now is getting all the stuff I have saved on this computer over to my laptop computer to bring on the ship! I gotta get my son nailed down to help me.....just try to get a 28 year old to help his mom on the computer, he has no patience with me@:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Could you let me know when the PP presentation shows? I'd love to sit with my pina colada and watch someone else's work!:happytv:

yes i am the ultimate last minute person...i am trying to priceline a room cheaper than it is listed so i have to wait to know where we are staying but i think we will try to stay at port canaveral...although we loved staying at pop century last time we cruise and we may try to sneak in there too....thanks for the offer though!!!

none of you will have to push me off the dock either.....after much consideration i will not be trying for an upgrade because i will just save my $$$$ for the gift shop and drinks, etc.....

however i will probably be up with you early because i want to get on the ship early for more palo ressies!!!!

I just have to commnet on the phones. I do realize many of you are leaving behind children, pets, etc. and do have to saty in touch. We are having the opposite problem amd HOPING we manage to sneak away before work manages to realize they'll only get hold of David if they force him to take the blackberry. One of my favourtie parts of a cruise is being unaccessible to the "real" world.

I think we are going to be there early in the morning also so we can get at least one Palo ressie and experience as much as possible.

Cheers!!

Pat

im already booked for a cat 8 on the repo and a cat 8 on the 1st med.
Im thinking of taking my chances like some of you did and just getting a cat 12 gty for the 3 of us on the repo thereby saving a bunch of money and hoping for an upgrade (cat 9 would be fine), if it works great, if not, then use the saved money to upgrade at the pier.

thoughts?
those of you with 3 people on gty's what kind of rooms have you been assigned.

also.
Ive never done a back to back, how much of a pain is it to change rooms on a b2b, I know some of you have and are planning on doing it.

help. this has kept me up all last night!!!

How exactly does this work? (assuming there's availability, which is a big if). We already have dinner, brunch, and tea as we were lucky enough not to have computer problems at the magic 90-day out witching hour. Do you put yourself on a waitlist, or is there a certain point that you can make multiples?

Thanks! Hope everyone's having a great weekend. It's really getting closer now!!! Still no surprise in the mail, but getting our cabins this early was enough of a surprise for this week. :)

AMEN, Hadley!! Jason and I were seriously considering leaving our phones at home...but we figured we might want them while we're at the World. But once we get on that boat we're shutting them off and packing them away. We're giving teh ship phone number to our housesitter, our parrot-sitter, and my parents for emergencies...and the rest of the world we're telling to leave us the HECK alone!!! :lmao:

Erik -- I don't have time to explain, but we are having what we call "Snack Night," it's my pick for the movie, so we are about to watch HSM!
