1. Which restaurant is your favorite? Why? Palo's for the seafood at brunch!
2. Which dessert is your favorite? The white chocolate slipper

3. What's your favorite onboard activity? The Martini Tasting and The Mystery Theater game (this was on the EB repo cruise. We had a blast and we met a lot of people so we could exchange clues!!!)
4. What's your favorite port? (not Castaway Cay! ) - Manzanillo the emergency substitute port because Hurricane Hillary kept us out of Cabo
5. What's been your favorite excursion? The Discover Manzanillo trip. All day and we went to so many places that you don't get to go with most any other cruiseline, including Disney!!!
6. What is the BEST thing about Castaway Cay? The Adult Beach and DOD on the Adult Beach!!!
7. What category room did you stay in? Would you stay in this category again? We have stay in a cat 9 an a cat 5. Yes, we would!
8. Have you ever been upgraded? This is the first time for free, we upgraded from a cat 11 to cat 9 on our first cruise at the port for very little money
9. What's your favorite live show onboard? On the 14 day EB Repo there was a show done by all the cast members (waiters, engineers, stateroom hosts, etc...) that litteraly brought the house down!!! It was standing room only!!! Kids were sitting on parents laps so that they could seat as many people as they could!!!
10. What's the absolute BEST thing about a DISNEY cruise? Something that makes DISNEY stand out from the rest, even if you have nothing to compare it to! With the exception of the phone center folks which are nice, but sometimes clueless and contradictory, I would say the people. I haven't done any other cruiseline, but when I compare my experiences with people who have they are floored at the level of service and how nice they are. I was telling them why we tip so much more than the standard and they now want to try it!!

I called cingular today and was told that my model of phone will work in Spain and all of Europe. I will call a couple of more times to be sure.

called sprint yesterday they said you can add europe for $3.00/month plus $1.29/per minute, and to call about a week before they need 72hours to connect, and when you get back just cancel it. Sounds good... just incase of an emergency.

Thanks for the review. Those are definately themes we like! Our local movie theatre is also a sit down restraurant (really--you sit at long tables and wait staff bring you meals while you watch). We have some free passses which will expire soon so I think I'll take the kids for dinner and Mimzy when David is gone next week. Rio does enjoy sci-fi (Flight of the Navigator was a big hit and Star Trek TNG is a nightly thing at our house). Though, his favourites are musicals (HSM, Annie, Singin' In the Rain, etc.) and 80s flicks (Ferris Bueller, Footloose, Bill and Teds, etc.) Poor child has been so warped by his parents . Marika is really not a big movie fan but will go with us to just about anything. Girl power is always good for her.

cquick--glad to hear the doc. is giving good reports. Sounds like you'll be in fine shape for the trip.

Hadley......I have to tell you that Rio kinda scares me----I'm not even dead yet and he's already me re-incarnated!!! I think we all know how I love musicals...but 80's films? LOVE IT!! Of course I was a young teenager during most of the 80's so I TOTALLY grew up on 80's music and movies. I think maybe that Rio and I were identical twins in another life or something! If he keeps going---that kid of yours is gonna grow up to one rockin' grown-up (If I do say so myself!! )

oh and p.s. Flight of the Navigator is one of mine and Jason's favorite films. We always love seeing the ship from that movie on the backlot tour in MGM!!

Here's my answers:


1. Which restaurant is your favorite? Why?
Ummm...Palo...duh! Because it rocks, that's why!

2. Which dessert is your favorite?
Alright I know it's not special....but I'm SUCH a sucker for softserve ice cream so I love the softserve ice cream up on deck by the pools....often Jason will have to remind me that it's time to stop getting ice cream or I'll go get one and then send him for one a little later for me so the CM's behind the counter don't know what a hog I am!

3. What's your favorite onboard activity?
The shows.....although Jason and I love playing ping pong on deck, too....although I have high hopes we're gonna get to play in the Oceaneer's club this time around and then that may trump it all!!

4. What's your favorite port? (not Castaway Cay! )
We''ve only been to Castaway Cay and Nassau....and I"m not a huge Nassau fan, honestly.

5. What's been your favorite excursion?
Parasailing in Castaway Cay....even though the driver of the boat was kind of rude to us...but the experience of the parasailing itself was just amazing!

6. What is the BEST thing about Castaway Cay?
I love the BBQ at Castaway and I also love the snorkeling there.

7. What category room did you stay in? Would you stay in this category again?
I've stayed in 12, 10, and 5.....this time we're going to be in a 4.....I'd never book lower than a 6 or 7 again.....I'm totally addicted to having a sliding glass door and access to the sea air now.

8. Have you ever been upgraded?
We paid for an upgrade to a category 5 on our last cruise.

9. What's your favorite live show onboard?
Golden Mickeys. Hands down.

10. What's the absolute BEST thing about a DISNEY cruise? Something that makes DISNEY stand out from the rest, even if you have nothing to compare it to!
All the kids and family friendly activities and the fact that the ENTIRE boat doesn't turn into one giant singles bar or nightclub or casino. Jason and I are nonsmokers and nondrinkers....and we don't mind a good time or other adults who do....but the one other non DCL cruise we went on was just a little TOO adult oriented for our tastes. WE LOVE DISNEY!!!

WE are actually going on the dvc Alaskan Cruise this August 4th.. Anyone going?

there's a DVC Alaskan cruise?! HMM......I didn't know that!!

Jason and I REALLY want to do an Alaskan Cruise.....we were hoping that DCL would announce one in the next few years once the ship is on the west coast...or once the two new ships in the fleet are in teh water.

I don't know about Category 1-3....but I know that we're in Category 4 and we got $100 exactly back. So there may be no reduction on a 1-3 OR it may be small by comparison like ours was (although we're also traveling as 2 adults...the more people in yoru cabin the bigger the discount might be as well)

Debbie--Thanks for keeping up tih the list--it must be a nightmare to update about now.

Kelly--Thanks for the idea to call and split the ressies. We already did that yesterday (very diplomatically we think and nicely--we know we have no right to demand anything) as soon as we realized so many other people were getting the higher upgrades. No dice. We were initialy told that no one with more than 3 people in a cabin got upgraded past an 11. Pointed out had we had "freinds" who had (did not think we should say DIS). Also let them know we could put one kid in each cabin if that would help (instead of 4 and 2). Even gave them, the sob stories that our first two DCLs we missed Castaway Cay. I hope having that call reocorded on our ressie helps rather than hurts if they do any future upgrades. I am comming to grips with it. It will be nice to be near Hank and Jan for a change (in the 4 cruises we have taken with them I can't remember ever even being on the same deck before) and it will be nice and quiet down at the end of the hallway.

Erik--Sounds like you'll have your own mini-self onboard. Twighlight zone material, don't you think? Awesome for Rio really actually as he doesn't run into many individualists like him. He really was asked by a friend recently what his favoutire kind of movies are and the answer was "80s movies." I'm not even sure the other kids knew what that meant (I guess only kids whose parents grew up in the 80s would).

It is in the DVC book... we have to use alot of points this year so booked an alaskan cruise. anyone interested...

Yep it is an exchange with Holland America. I think We may hold out for the new Disney ships.
