You compulsive packers will be glad to know that Jason and I decided to do an informal sort of pre-packing. In our spare bedroom we have put several boxes and labeled them and we're throwing things into them NOW that we know we need to take but will not use before we go. Like:

---all the ties....like I said we never EVER wear ties here, so we won't use them before we go
---pirate costumes
---bathing suits and swimming shoes
---shorts (because the likelihood we'll have any shorts weather before May 4th is not very good)
---toiletries (since our total trip is going to be almost a full month I decided we'd just go buy a brand new deodorent, toothpaste, full bottle of all of my onslaught of hair products, etc. and pack them unopened so we know we have plenty and won't run out mid-trip by bringing half-used product from our cupboards, etc.)

In addition as we think of things we know we will need to bring (like the number of pairs of underwear and socks) I'm writing that on index cards and dropping that in the boxes, too. That way the week of the trip we'll get out the suitcases and start trasnferring stuff from box to suitcase and when we come upon an index card we'll run to the drawers and closets adn get those items.

I was pretty pleased with myself for devising such a system!

:tigger:

Erik

A man after my own heart!!! I have my computerized packing list going with actual clothes, underwear counts, etc. Also have the last of the stuff I need to buy before the cruise outlined so I can buy it. I also have two boxes of stuff going in the guest room. One for my stuff and one for stuff I picked up for Jeannine because she will need it. Then every time we meet up we exchange stuff!!!

By the way, we found at our local Target's travel section that they carry travel packs of toilet seat covers and toilet paper. We got some because we were not sure what the facilities in the ports will be like and better safe than :scared1:   :scared:

You guys are too funny with you packing lists going and checking off everything that you are taking. Sorry but I had to laugh. Us, Oh I figure about Tuesday of the week of the cruise we will start to pack the suit cases up :)

Cheers!!

Pat

Hi!

Anyone here retired military?

I just got off the phone with DCL and they are offering discounts for retired military for the May 12, 2007 transatlantic cruise.

The CM there said this was a first for Disney and they may offer it on more cruises in the furute if there is good respone to this one.

So, if you're eligible, call DCL and see if your rate went down!

and oh I would give just about anything to be able to go with you all.

I figured my family could catch one of those military Spave Available flights back to Jacksonville, Florida from Rota , Spain after the cruise.

But, we just can't take the time off right now.

I hope someone benefits from this!

Oh so much when on while I was out! Let's see what is still in my brain and has not leaked out.

Kelly -- Love Sky High! Especially "Hero Support!"

Cabin number 8598 Right down at the end. Which is really great. We had 8080 (I know someone has that cabin this time) last time and Dh like being able to go up the back stairs to get coffee each morning. I would have loved to been upgraded to a Cat 3, but I wasn't holding my breath.

OK here is some info about the Grass Skirt Fraternity.

Walk into the shrink wherever you are, wearing a grass skirt, just walk in, say, "Shrink, . . . this is what I am wearing to the Sept 17, sail-away party and tropical night on DCL", and walk out.

You know, if one person, just one person, shows up wearing a grass skirt, they may think he's really sick.

And if two people do it, they may think they just like each other.

And if three people do it! Can you imagine three people wearing grass skirts to the May 12, 2007. sail-away party and tropical night on DCL. They may think it's an organization!

And can you imagine fifty people I said FIFTY people wearing grass skirts to the May 12 Sail-away party and tropical night on DCL, Friends, they may think it's a MOVEMENT, and that's what it is: THE GRASS SKIRT FRATERNITY MOVEMENT! . . . and all you gotta do to join is wear a grass skirt to the May 12 sail-away party and tropical night on DCL, .........With feelin'.

OK so I had a flash back, so here is the trivia question for you old boomers, from where did I get inspired for this banter to come from?

Lynn you can’t answer... Hint - A performer at the Flower Power Concerts at EPCOT.

Note: no profit made on these items.

Stuck at the Holiday Inn in Riverton, WY, doing work in the room, well where ever you go you take the weather with you, the menu here well reminds of a menu at a Holiday Inn , and there is a group of surgeons getting drunk on Tuborg Beer… I gotta go where it is warm. Waiting for 5:00 to use Priority Club drink card. (References are for Bob and any other parrot head out there)

Thanks Hadley, will try to hit the road early in the morn.

Wishing you all good luck finding air fare, and getting those passports.

Wicked will be in Denver while we are gone on this trip, yet we might get down there the night before we leave for this trip… I think work will get in the way.

Gydell, how bad are the verizion charges????? Actually don’t want to take a phone or computer.

Somehow that sounds suspiciously like Alice's Restaurant....oops - did I just date myself?

Got our stateroom. Got a Cat. 11, #5013, which is the sideways room deck 5, forward.

Looks like we are just a hop, skip and a jump from epcotkilterfan, Debbie and her mom Jeanette and close to Beth E and Harry in Michigan! By the way, hope Beth E's arm has healed from the 11 night last September. Haven't seen her post in awhile!

Lovablegluttons - Just finished reading your trip report. What a riot, you guys seem like a lot of fun. Too bad you can't make this trip.

Regarding the cafe press t-shirts, do they run true to size? I still need to order mine. Thanx.

In my opinion, yes

Hi guys, well, just got back from a nice short trip to DL with Susie and Curt (SSNYDER) the weather was gorgeous... I plan to send it east!! Zoe went on Thunder Mountain for her first time.

We got 2580 midship as we requested but several decks down from where we want to be!!!! Hopefully we'll end up straight up 3 decks.

Lori, we're you a cat. 12 GTY and got deck 8?

Good job Eric, we have the same thing bags and boxes with each person's name and category of items. Been keeping them for a year and when we went through them this week we figured out Jonathan had stashed 9 books already into his bag and I had stocked so much stuff for Zoe that it looked like Santa had been stuffing the bag - guess I'll be scaling back for that bag!

Linda, thanks for the cookies. Will you please PM your address so I can pay fo them now. It will be a surprise for DH, he'll be thrilled. Please don't worry about crushing the box or even breaking he cookies. Squeeze them in however you can manage and we'll eat them however they arrive!

Thanks for the offer Hadley! You're right we pay more for everything here - gas is now $3.21 :scared1: It's absolutely crazy how expensive it is... the get us for the luxury of DL!!! :rotfl2: ... and we happily pay for it. :hippie:

Glad to hear that everyone else liked Sky High, if you haven't seen it give it a watch. popcorn::

Taxes this weekend.

We're across the hall in 5020!

Seems like just about everybody got into a cat. 10 or higher but us. We have two cat. 11s. Hank and Jan are in 6004 and We are in 6002. We have sailed in cat. 11s as often as not, and I thought it wouldn't bother me at all, but I am finding I feel cheated when it looks like everyone else is better off. Why doesn't Disney like me? I figured we deserved some pixie dust as we have missed Castaway Cay on half our cruises due to weather.Oh well, we WILL enjoy the crusie and perhaps an upgrade will come along, and we can always try at the port as well.

I bet that DCL continues to change rooms all the way up to the cruise since there are so many empty ones. Don't give up hope they may be saving the best for last!

We got a "surprise" from Disney today.......It's on my fridge right now!

I was expecting something else.....

Also, I rebooked at a lower category, and I got a refund about a month ago, but now they say I still owe $280.....I have got to call DCL and find out why......

I have decided we are just going to throw everything we own into suitcases and then leave!

I was told that public restrooms are sometimes unisex, and have no seats at all, and sometimes can be just a raised hole in the ground.......but that should be a problem to those of us who have been primitive camping! Think of those outhouses we have used.....and I have used a few cornfields, even! At least we don't have to watch out for cowpies!

Kelly--If the cookies arrive crushed, tell Jonathan to mix them into the soft serve blizzard style. Very yummy:love:

My sister in law lives in L.A. so we know all about your insane cost of living. Man, I envy you DL but I sure don't envy that.
