Is she also in the UK? So she saw it in London? If so then how fortunate for her because if she saw it when it opened in London then she saw Idina Menzel, the "real" Elphaba (the main character of the show), who won a Tony Award for creating the role. I saw Idina play the role 4 times on Broadway before she left the show to make the film version of "Rent" and she is breathtaking!!

Yes is is in the UK and yes she saw it with Idina Menzel in it but she didn't get to fly! It was the first Saturday matine and they cut that bit (it was shown on a show over here that's for charity and this year they showed the Defying Gravity scene from this and Avenue Q's It sucks to be me). We saw Avenue Q together in London as well (girlie weekend with both my daughterrs) and although they changed some of the parts from the American (so we were told later) it was fab.

Well....I'm sure it was magnificent nonetheless because, in truth....the flying bit is overrated......it's the SONG that's important there...the flying effect itself isn't all that impressive since it's more of a 'levitation' than a 'flying' (not like the stage version of Peter Pan, for example, where Kathy Rigby is swinging all over the place and flying back and forth).

And, yes, Avenue Q is definitely fun and witty and brilliant (even if very adult oriented and politically liberal....although I'm both of those things so that's probably part of the draw for me!! hehehe:laughing: )

Man, 5 pages since this morning, getting so I have to read this a couple times a day jsut to keep up. Hate to see what we will be like a week before the trip.

A big Hola y recepción ( have to practice you know) to all the new members.

If there is only 1200 people on board the boat chances are this group is about 20% of them, that is kind of cool.

It seems that I am the big planner this trip. Normally the wife and I just wing it, we have a general idea on what we want to do and see but never seem to have any real plan. Even this trip we have one excusion booked but I think we might cancel that and just do each city on our own. See what we can find and experience. Sometimes we find some really cool things to see, other times we miss stuff but we like doing it and so do the kids. We really don't like to be stuck to a plan where we must be here at this time. If we find someplace interesting we like to stay there as long as it takes.

They were calling for snow here but it by past us, thank god. Getting really tired of the white stuff now.

Well time to go home, need to start planning my new aquarium and dig out some plans for furniture that I have to start to build when I get back from the trip.

Cheers!!

Pat

No DCL surprises for me today. It probably will go to my TA who is on vacation until the middle of next week. So if anyone would like to share what it is, please feel free to tell me!

Mine works. Did you call Verizon and have them activate your phone for international calling?

OK here is some info about the Grass Skirt Fraternity.

Walk into the shrink wherever you are, wearing a grass skirt, just walk in, say, "Shrink, . . . this is what I am wearing to the Sept 17, sail-away party and tropical night on DCL", and walk out.

You know, if one person, just one person, shows up wearing a grass skirt, they may think he's really sick.

And if two people do it, they may think they just like each other.

And if three people do it! Can you imagine three people wearing grass skirts to the May 12, 2007. sail-away party and tropical night on DCL. They may think it's an organization!

And can you imagine fifty people I said FIFTY people wearing grass skirts to the May 12 Sail-away party and tropical night on DCL, Friends, they may think it's a MOVEMENT, and that's what it is: THE GRASS SKIRT FRATERNITY MOVEMENT! . . . and all you gotta do to join is wear a grass skirt to the May 12 sail-away party and tropical night on DCL, .........With feelin'.

OK so I had a flash back, so here is the trivia question for you old boomers, from where did I get inspired for this banter to come from?

Lynn you can’t answer... Hint - A performer at the Flower Power Concerts at EPCOT.

Stuck at the Holiday Inn in Riverton, WY, doing work in the room, well where ever you go you take the weather with you, the menu here well reminds of a menu at a Holiday Inn , and there is a group of surgeons getting drunk on Tuborg Beer… I gotta go where it is warm. Waiting for 5:00 to use Priority Club drink card. (References are for Bob and any other parrot head out there)

Thanks Hadley, will try to hit the road early in the morn.

Wishing you all good luck finding air fare, and getting those passports.

Wicked will be in Denver while we are gone on this trip, yet we might get down there the night before we leave for this trip… I think work will get in the way.

Gydell, how bad are the verizion charges????? Actually don’t want to take a phone or computer.

Thanks Ken , You da Man....

Also folks the Wine and Cheese pre cruise Party at OKW. see the post Ken manages for details.

I think most of the time when door signs "disappear" that the teenagers do it just to be....well.....teenagers!

Since we don't have very many kids on this cruise, and definitely not many teenagers, I don't think it will be a problem.

(Now that I've said that....my door sign will probably be the first to disappear!)

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I've :woohoo: been lurking for a few days and have oearned so much! I just wanted to out myself and rejoice (yipee!) that I am on that (jumping for joy) cruise across the Atlantic, too!!!!!!!!!!!! Just booked last week!

BTW does anyone know if the Panama trips in 2008 are sold out? Disney web-site won't let me book.

:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

 Welcome Aboard!

Hi All,

Made it home early (relatively speaking) from a workshop on writing Quality Assurance Project Plans (boring :rotfl: :rotfl:) so have a chance to actually get on the boards while the sun still shines.

Good news, got our air info today. :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: The info from the CM at the air res desk yesterday was correct!! Still too bad that folks at the regular DCL res # can't have the same info.

We're leaving Boston at 7:45 am  on Delta arriving at MCO at 1042 am. Not thrilled at leaving that early and having to wait around the airport to get into the hotel (check in not supposed to be until 3). So DW and I decided we'll just have to rent a car and spend the day at EPCOT for the Flower and garden festival. Oh, the sacrifice.:rotfl2: :rotfl2: Wasn't sure we wouldh've been able to handle being in Orlando and not visiting the parks as others have mentioned, DCL must have known. :lmao: :lmao:

Return trip has us leaving Barcelona on June 6 (we're doing the B2B) at 9:30 am to Paris and then Paris to Boston. So for those of you wondering what time is safe to book your return this is what DCL has us booked on. Guess they want us off the ship early after 25 days. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :cool2:

Still no suprise here, but Cape Cod always seems to be like a foreign country mailwise. :confused3 :confused3

Hey, how come Gordy, in his grasskirt, isn't include in the Grassskirt Frat picture??

Bob

Hey Everyone,

So this is off topic....but I've made so many friends here on the DisBoards that I thought I'd put it out there anyway!

Jason and I are throwing our hats into the fundraising & fitness ring, too---certainly not as much as Ken riding his bike so far for arthritis....but doing our part.

Every year the agency I work for sponsors an AIDS Walk to raise money for AIDS services and education....and Jason and I participate....and they have just finalized the details about the walk and let our pledge pages go live online. The Walk is actually just a week or two after we get off the boat and get home (maybe we'll walk a few laps on deck every day to practice :yay: )...and now it's time to start sending emails, making calls, and raising money....our fundraising goal is not that high, but every penny helps....

.....if any of my DisBoard friends would like to sponsor us, you can visit our pledge page and make an online donation at:

Thanks so much!!:) ...........and now back to the fun of Disney Cruising!!!

Jonathan is 5. He's a really little guy and some think he's 3. Scott and I are both tall, so it's kinda funny. He LOVES the kids club. We won't see him much.

Just booked Nov. cruise, even though i will try for a better rate on board. i did get $4500 for 10 of us, so not bad.

Another question...if you are taking the hop on hop off busses in Barcelona, where do you catch them and how are you getting there from the boat? taxi?

Sadly, I can't find Palo reservationations that coordinate with babysitting. <pout>
