This fun trip is coming up fast!!!

Ready to Travel - my cruise roomie and I are on that same flight on the 27th.

If I had more time I might have been going over to DL in Paris but that will have to wait for another time.

We have a 9:50AM flight out on Sunday. I booked a room at the Hotel Ciutat Del Prat. It is close to the airport with free shuttle service. There are some good reviews of the hotel on Trip Advisor. The rate for 2 adults is 80 Euro (around $105).

And this is where we are staying in case you were looking for a place for that day.

Welcome Aboard Ready to Travel..... great airfare...

See us Lanyard People don't scare everyone away... LOL

Just in case anyone was wondering...

:hippie: thanks for the route map! wow, some poeple are so smart! I can't wait for all those days at sea!

Goodmorning all, Well, there was lots POC news here last night with the 40th anniversary. They did a big special hoopla in Hollywood with Orlando Bloom making an appearance. Disneyland is doing their big premiere on Saturday May 19th and the movie opens the following Friday, May 25th. They are usually tweaking movies right up to the last minute before the release. So, the only way to get it on the boat by May 12th is to send us an "unfinished copy" which means that it will be such minor changes that we wouldn't know the difference! But it can likely make it to the port of Cadiz or Gibraltar and show it on Thursday. The way they did a premiere for us in the past was show it several times per day and in the little theatre too. Worst case scenario is to pick it up at the port in Barcelona on Friday, May 25th which blows our fountain excursion.

Even though I've seen all the travel show a million times we pick up stuff on every viewing and make notes. I really want to take the cable car up to Mount Juic (sp?) I've watched every travel show I could get my hands on from the library, travel channel etc. And nobody looks like they are dressed any different than us. Also, we thought they showed the DCL quite a bit too on the cruise show! That new jumbo tron looks spectacular. We can't wait to see that.

It's the last day of winter and we've had 2.5 inches of rain this year! We are in such a drought we may be in trouble this summer! We've got foggy gloom today.

By the way the sneak peak of POC3 is on GMA this morning! popcorn::

I seem to recall that the ship needs to be near a port if they are doing fireworks. I am sure Linda (seaulater) has the 411 on this.

When I talked to Captain Henry on the Wonder about this last year, he told me that the fireworks are loaded on at Port Canaveral and that they can do the fireworks any night, put they have to notify all ships within 5 miles (I think) so the other ships won't think it is a distress call.

We have been on the ship when they have done them both at sea and at night when leaving a port. They did them in Acapulco while we were still in the bay and Acapulco did fireworks back at us as the Magic left Acapulco for the very first time after we had been in port there.

Another time we were scheduled to do fireworks the night we left a port, but the system failed, so they were rescheduled the next night, which was a night at sea.

So, we have had them both ways!

Hi everyone,

Thanks for all of the great planning tips, having just read all of the posts from the last two weeks i now have nine sites open waiting to be read. :surfweb:

we are not at all organised. i have now booked a week at WLV for before the cruise, worked out our most probable route to get to Orlando and booked Palo's but that is it so far!!
no packing list, no plans for after the cruise and no excursions (although with a two year old in tow we normally just do our own thing)

I did however manage to book lunch at Cinderella's Royal Table!

As far as looking like a tourist goes - we travel a lot and usually look like tourists and have never had any problems.

For those with kids and long flights that is a situation we are very familar with - to get from here to NY is 14 hours... the most important thing to keep in mind is it only a few hours of your life and not really worth stressing about. games, movies, food and hopefully sleep make the time pass quickly. even the most determined kid can only scream for so long... just don't feed them too much sugar (sat next to an 18mth old for an 8 hour flight once where the mother gave it constant sweets - not nice)

the star gazing sounds great - i'm not really familiar with the northern stars yet and look forward to seeing them all.

i am really glad the formal night is early on - i always worry that after a few nights on the magic i wont fit into my dress any more! :rotfl2:

oh and Scott our apologies we wont be able to make the wine and cheese do, we ahd hoped to but could only get six o'clock bookings for crystal palace and the kids will never forgive us if they don't get to see Pooh and friends!

i look forward to meeting you all very soon

:)michelle

since my computer crashed a couple weeks ago, i have been scrambling to get all my travel info back...i had saved quite a few info pages of stuff i wanted to do but now i get to essentially start over.....

i can't believe how close this cruise is....especially after thinking i wasn't going on it for so long!!! BTW..did you see last night on the cruising do and don'ts that you should book a repositioning cruise!!!!

i bought a disney camera for my little girl just for the Disney Pix software....

it is AWESOME!!!! it does so much more than i though it would and it has these great backgrounds and pages where you can superimpose your family's photos and make them captain jack, or pooh, or princesses, or mickey/minnie...it is really fun....

Where did you get the camera? Is it digital? I am looking for a camera for my 5 year old GS.

Paris Hotel Warning

I dinked around long enough that when I went to make my reservations at the Holiday Inn in Paris, every hotel was sold out except 2 or 3 and the rates had gone up $20-$30. I called on the phone and they were able to get me into the Holiday Inn Disneyland Resort for 80euros (incl. tax) We were really on the fence about going to DL Paris - I guess we will be going now! But I thought I'd better let everyone know that the hotels are sold out because of the Paris Open (which I am still trying to figure out how to get tickets!) So, if you are planning a trip -do it now.

The most amazing thing has happend for my DH and I. We have been thinking about adopting for sometime and last summer we signed up with an organization that helps couples do just that.

We just got a call two days ago that a birthmother has chosen us! :yay: :yay: :yay:
The due date looks like it will hit around May 20th. Within the next 8 days if the adoption looks like it will proceed we will have to cancel our cruise.
:upsidedow
After a year of planning its hard to turn off the excitement for this vacation, but we are just thrilled with having a baby! :cloud9:
What is the youngest anyone has taken a child on a cruise? (thinking ahead to summer 08!:thumbsup2

Congrats, that is great. My nephews are adopted and I understand the process and waiting. Congrats again.

Congrats! That is such good news. :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay:
Can't help you on the other questions though.

I think 12 weeks is the youngest on the regular cruises, but you would need a passport and it is too late for that. I think we'll be saying goodbye to you for the best reasons ever!!!!!!! Congratulations, you will love being new parents -- get Dr. Harvey Karp's Happiest Baby on the Block and a sound machine - two best investments I made!

Elderfam,
We hate to loose you on the cruise, but what a reason to cancel! Congratulations. :thumbsup2 What awesome news!

As to your question, Rio turned 10 months old on our first cruise on the Wonder (a four nighter). I don't think they even had Flounders yet (maybe we just missed it, grandparents were along so we had built in child care) We had a blast that trip (as did he). Disney says they can cruise any time after 12 weeks (good luck getting a certified birth cert. and then a passport that fast on a infant!), but by next summer you should be FINE.
