Fantastic Erik!!! My DD5 Amy has taken gymnastics for 2 years and still can't do a cartwheel. Can we arrange a private lesson onboard? I bet Kelly's Zoe would join in too.

Kathy

Rio would join too!!! His gymanstics classes have always focused on bars, beam, etc. (which he loves) but totally neglected tumbling (which he would also like to learn). Like Amy, Rio STILL can't do a cartwheel (his very uncoordinated mother can't to one either so she can't teach him:confused3 ).

Erik, that was spectacular! I was a gymnast (as you know I am pixy size) for years... got to meet Kathy Rigby when I was little - shortly after she was the first women to win an American medal in gymnastics. Now I can almost reach my toes if I don't turn a disk in my back!:lmao:

I hear your pain....:lmao: :lmao:

I only wish I could, I promised a few more years than planned , on work that is, oh 4 years to go after this cruise, won't be too bad.

Also on the travel Channel Cruise Do's and Don'ts, there was a DCL CM named Clayton, looked like a guy we called Hollywood:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: that said when moves premier on land they also premier on the ships, so that is what me thinks.... :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Of course they also said no need to get to the port early, what to they know:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

JUST THINK OF HOW MANY MORE DVC POINTS YOU WILL BE ABLE TO BUY SINCE YOU POSTPONED YOUR RETIREMENT!:rotfl:

Yes---Hollywood is Clayton and Clayton is Hollywood. When we were on the DVC member cruise in October his nametag said Clayton and I had to go talk to him when I finally saw him because he wasn't around anywhere! He said that when he is "Assistant Cruise Director" he is working behind the scenes taking care of all the paperwork aspects of the job for the cruise staff and therefore he has to go by "CLAYTON". He said he much prefers "HOLLYWOOD", but knows that in order to work up to cruise director he has to do the necessary jobs to climb up the ladder of success. It was pretty funny watching him because he wanted to be on the stage SOOOOOO BAD! I gave him some pictures that I took of him from our 11 night in September on the Wonder.

We don't get to the port early. Early would be 2 a.m. We are still sleeping then! :cloud9: :cloud9: :cloud9:

Hey so this is totally off topic...but because so many people seemed so interested and supportive of the cheerleading squad for whom I'm the tumbling coach recently winning their national championship competition, I thought I'd share this. Here is a link to a youtube video that one of my girls' father taped with his cameraphone (they wouldn't allow videocameras into the competition apparently)...it's not super great quality and the crowd is screaming so loud you can't hear my girls' music but you can at least see their routine...and in particular the entire opening gymnastics/tumbling segment for which I'm taking credit (:lmao: ) because I helped make up that piece in terms of what tumbling shoudl go where and I taught half those girls to even DO that tumbling!!

Here is the link:

Enjoy if your'e a cheerleading fan:cheer2: :cheer2: ...ignore if you're not!

Erik

kewl! Great job Erik! I'll have to show Jamie tonight at home!

Clayton is the host of the new Med DVD too!

Debbie: will you please post the offkilter times again? I can't find them on their website.

AK question: Will kids like the food at BOMA?

Boma has a "kids" area with "regular" stuff - chicken nuggets, fries, plain veggies - etc. So there is always that to fall back on if they won't eat anything else.

Ken

Thanks, Ken. I'm making all my restaurant ressies today. Zoe is really good about trying all kinds of new food, but sometimes tasting something isn't the same as eating a whole meal. We practice eating new foods every day, but this may be a little too much for this long of a trip.

Another planning question:

Has anyone purchased the dining experience pass for $65 to get the 20%food discount? Was it worth it?

I was thinking that maybe they decided to have Pirate's night on the 18th so that they could show the premier that same night - at midnight it would the 19th and the date of the premier at Disneyland.

Thanks for the good vibes :goodvibes around my girls (and my one girls screaming dad in the background! :lmao: )

Of course I'll teach some cartwheels and things onboard...you'll just have to sign a waiver and hope for calm seas!! hehehe Seriously though...last cruise I did cartwheels and walked on my hands on deck for someone....if the mood strikes I'd do it again! :)

I'm surprised that Rio hasn't ever focused on tumbling as a dancer! More and more tumbling has become a big part of dancing....my gym actually does a lot of "specialized" gymnastics...we do regular gymnastics with all the events...but we also have an entire class of tumblers who are there to learn "dance gymnastics"---meaning they focus exclusively on things like cartwheels and aerials and back handspring stepouts and walk-overs and things....and our very LARGE cheerleading tumbling program where they spend all their time on backhandsprings and back tucks really....we even have a trampoline tumbling program where they spend the entire time training on the trampoline and never touch anything else---that class is usually full of skateboarders, bikers, skiers...those "X-sports" types who want to learn how to flip around like a monkey! (I always used to think of that when we'd watch the "Tarzan Rocks" show with all the flipping monkeys on rollerblades in Animal Kingdom...*sigh*....I mourn that show because it was delightful!)

Erik

Many of you have said it already, and it's so true. Miss a day and you're four pages behind. But I love reading the posts, so it's not a chore for me to have to catch up!

Erik--great job on the choreography. The video is surprisingly good quality for a camera phone, I thought it looked great! :yay: I also mourn the loss of Tarzan Rocks. I've sadly only been to WDW twice, and the first time in 2000 it wasn't playing because Rosie was taping that week in the theatre. Was delighted to catch it in 2004, and couldn't wait to see it again when I go this November, and then found out it's gone.

Kelly--I'm so jealous, I didn't get a special DVD?! Maybe today, we'll see. And can I ask what is prompting you to get the WDW Annual Pass? I know you're a CA Dineyland local, just curious.

Elder--Congrats on the baby, that is amazing! :grouphug:

Scott--4 years? Ugh, I have another 30.

Hadley and Pat--You're making me feel guilty for enjoying our mid eighty degree weather here in Las Vegas. Here's hoping the winter is past after your big storm. :goodvibes

Everyone else with info or possible info about POC and phone cards and maps and routes and everything else, thanks for the useful information and postings.

Okay, gonna go to the outlet mall to do some cruise shopping. Have a great day everyone! :cool1:
Chris

We did some shopping today ourselves! No DVD for us either, maybe the TA has it, which if this is true then it will be awhile before I get it. What is everybody doing about changing money? On the ship or before?

Erik - loved the video! My DD cheered and danced through high school and college. She also use to do flips, tucks. and arabians. Doubt she can do them anymore. We love to watch the championships on TV.

We just received the DVD yesterday, so I'm sure it is on it's way to everyone.

We purchased some Euros from Bank of America online. We probably didn't get the absolute best rate, but at least we have them and don't have to worry about it. Everything I've heard is that you get best rate at the ATM machines. But I figured that it really didn't cost us that much more for the amount we purchased.

How was this Done?
We have BOA? ;)

Does anyone want to share how many Euros and pounds they are taking? I figure we can always get more there, but I really don't want to have to fit in a bank stop.

It worked well - order online, they send it to a local branch where you go in and pick it up.
However, watch out for the hidden fees if you use a credit card to purchase the currency - they consider it a cash advance so there are additional charges. To avoid the charges, you can have them hit your checking or saving account directly.

It's actually up $.02 since we did it 2 weeks ago.

Ken

Erik - you should be really proud of your girls and how well you had them prepared. I was impressed. I was cheer coach for 4 years and it is a lot of work. Cheerleading is a sport - the girls have to work hard to be that good
and you coaches have to have a lot of patience with these young ladies. Pat yourself on the back::cheer2: :cheer2:

Milestogo - we have the dining card (they sell them in my office). We think it is a really good deal and use it often to eat in all the nice restaurants in the parks and resorts. My husband thinks it pays for its self after the first use. You don't have to pay for valet parking at any of the resorts when you have the dining card. So it is really useful for us. They also send out a newsletter with special events for the dining card members.

Milestogo - We also have the DDE card and it always pays for itself, usually during its first use. ( We have a lot of mouths to feed).

My Dh is in Toulouse (France) this week and it is snowing today. Pretty rare occurrence. He is also stocking up on euros for us. I'm still trying to read the whole thread, I'm currently on page 76. I usually read all the new info and then backtrack. We're still undecided on what we're doing after the repo, so we haven't booked air or lodging yet. Ok, back to reading and thanx for everyones ideas and plans that I'm perusing.
