May 11th 2008 ~ Any Double Dippers Out There?

And well done on losing 186lbs!!! That's abso-flamin-lutely amazing... :worship: :worship: :worship:

Let's just hope I don't gain it all back on this cruise!!!
I'm doing the  dance. I booked Bibbity Boppity Boutique for DD for the Sunday after the cruise (we're doing 5 days in the parks when we return). She'll be just about 3 (weeks away) and she tells me almost daily that she IS a princess (like there was ever any question about her royalty status! ).

I'm also on a mission to convince DH about PPP which happens to be scheduled for the night of the day we have slotted for MK. DH thinks the kids are too young and will be too tired from a total day at the park. I told him that since we are only a short boat ride away from MK, we can head back to the hotel after lunch for a nap, and then head back to the park for the evening. We get discounted tickets (about $5 discount per ticket) for being DVC members. Any advice on convincing him would be GREATLY appreciated!!

I only gained a couple of pounds on our last cruise - that was over 7 nights so not too bad! :thumbsup2 It was WDW in October and December plus 2 lots of the DDP that added on the extra 7lbs that I seem incapable of losing!!! :sad2:

Awww how cute!!! She (and you) will love it... :cloud9:

I say go for it - if you were intending to visit MK that day anyway why not just spend the main part of the day relaxing at the resort, using the pool and generally chilling before getting ready for the PPP and going over to MK for around 4pm!!! It'll be such an experience for the kids and you too. DD and I are going to the one on the Friday night prior to cruising... :thumbsup2

We have lunch ressies for Crystal Palace w/Pooh for 1pm so we'd need to be there for that. I could start the day at MK for noon, or just head out after lunch for a break, let the little one nap, and then head back about dinner time.

I need to convince the DH first....... (when it comes to spending money, think the "Beast" on a bad day.....). We started watching PPP videos on Youtube last night and DD was SO excited- I think she's my golden ticket to him saying yes!!

Denise,

Great job on losing 186 lbs. Yes, you deserve 4 new bathing suits. I always bring 3 or 4. Nothing worse than putting on a wet suit. Yuck. I have a 7 month old so I'm working hard on flattening that belly. I'd hate to have to wear my maternity bathing suit that still has the tags on it. lol! I had the flu a few weeks ago and lost 4 lbs. that have miraculously stayed off. Now I'm at exactly my pre-pregnancy starting weight. Yea! I just need to firm up. I'm breastfeeding and I swear I have a large storage spot on my upper thighs. Eeewww. I usually don't gain weight on the cruises because we are walking alot and I think the food there is actually much more healthy than I usually eat. Lots of fruit too!!

CustardTart - Ah...I have to learn everyone's names soon huh? I ALWAYS seem to hate my haircuts. I've always had bangs due to a big forhead and weird eyebrows. I remember my one cruise I kept complaining to our tablemates about how short my bangs looked in their pics. The guy thought I was crazy because they were below my eyebrows, but still shorter than they had been. Now looking back on the pics, they weren't quite as bad as I remember them to be. I think too, your hair takes a few days to curl the way you want them to. I know my bangs are usually stick straight for a few days, then they start to go the way I want them too. You have plenty of time for them to grow. The beauty of being female.. ..Clips, clips, and clips!!!

Denise, you are my new hero!!! How amazing to lose that much weight! I have about 60 I need to lose and I just can't get motivated. When we thought we were going to wait until October to cruise, that motivated me because I knew I could lose the weight by then. We don't have enough time for me to make much of a dent in the fat before the cruise now, however, so I'm having a hard time convincing myself that it really IS indeed worth it!!

My husband, however, has managed to lose 17 pounds over the last 20 days, and will now lose even more over the next several weeks. He is up for a promotion, so he now has to work out with the guys in his prospective job level as well as the guys with whom he works. That adds up to 7 times a week instead of the 4 or 5 he has been doing. 2 hours each time adds up quickly and is leading to wonderful weight loss!

Melissa, have you joined the Wish board on here? I'm on it when I get a chance. Don't give up hope. You can knock off a few lbs. before the cruise pretty easily. There are lots of good pointers on the WISH board. I can't wait to get nice weather so I can start walking. I try to hit the gym a couple of times a week and also try to do a few workouts on FitTv. Also if you have a pair of hand weights, you can fit in some mini workouts throughout the day. Squats, bicep curls, etc. I used to work out 5 days a week before the kiddies came along and now that I really need to, I don't have the time. :confused3

I haven't joined over there. I'll have to check it out.

Part of my problem is that I have fibromyalgia, so while working out is so important for helping the pain, getting started is so hard BECAUSE of the pain and the resulting migraines. LOL I was working out 1.5 hours, at least 5 days a week, until I broke my foot. I loved how good I felt and the time alone. I'd play some praise music on my MP3 player and just GO!! Just as I was healing and getting back into everything, my daughter was diagnosed with a neurological disorder and we found out she'd need brain surgery. SO, while working out would have been a huge benefit to me physically and mentally, I just couldn't manage it.

Now I REALLY need to get back to the gym and get my endurance built up again. My daughter's physical therapist wants her working out daily anyway, so that'll be a good opportunity to get myself back into it as well, especially since she has to begin slowly. We can both build up our endurance together. :)

My main goal right now is to lose enough before the cruise that when I gained what I surely will gain, I will not end up heavier than I am now. :rolleyes1

Thanks for the congrats ladies- I am amazed at myself but I can't take all the credit for loosing the weight. I had weight loss surgery 2 years ago because I knew if I didn't do something drastic I'd never be around to see my kids graduate highschool (if even that). So after trying everything for over 20 years I went under the knife and I've never looked back. It was a scary and hard choice since food was my best friend for most of my life. And like everyone else, I look in the mirror and still say "ugh... I look fat in this". :sad2:
You'll have NO problem recognizing me on the ship- I look like the bride of frankenstein with all the scars on my body from removing the hanging skin! (actually, the only visible ones are my arms because I just had them done January 2 so they are still "new" scars and need about another 10 months to heal and fade to what they will look like.

I have this vision of getting up early on the cruise (before everyone else is up) and just enjoying a walk around the deck or 1/2 hour in the gym without the kids and DH ... but hell, I've come to realize if I can't get my behind up early to hit the gym while I"m home, what the hell do I think I'm going to be able to do it while on vacation? :rotfl:

OK - so it's almost down to the 7 week mark!!! Man I am just beyone excited!!!

...a very Happy Easter!!!

IMO you should be very proud of yourself for making the decision and sticking to it - it must be unbelievably hard to have surgery with all the risks that entails! :thumbsup2 And I know from programmes I've seen on TV that it isn't a miracle cure - so all in all you have done a brilliant job! :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes I just really wish my sister-in-law would consider it - but that's another story...

I TOTALLY agree!!! The scars are your badges of honor for accomplishing that amazing weight loss!! Wear them proudly, knowing all you have done, the courage and self control you have had, and the different life you have now given yourself and your family!!

Denise,

I actually workout more on the ship than I do at home. I LOVE the fact that the gym is right there. They used to have more aerobics classes than they do now, and I'd be there everyday. I was even doing a class as we were pulling away from Castaway Cay one time. That was fun trying to keep my balance. :lmao: The classes are only a half hour so it's not too bad. They moved the times up to like 8:30 am and since we always have an inside cabin, we tend to sleep a little later. Now w/ the baby, he is always up around 7, so I shouldn't have a problem doing a spinning class. We usually always take a few laps around deck 4 after breakfast and our meals. And before the kids, we always took the steps. Now w/ the stroller, it's too hard. I really hate the elevators because it takes too long. We drink a ton of water on the ship too. I don't think I've ever gained while we cruised. One of our tablemates says she actually loses 10 lbs. every cruise since she's much more active than she is at home. Don't worry about gaining. You'll be fine.

It's a champagne cocktail made with 4 parts champagne to 1 part creme de cassis. Sometimes garnished with a raspberry or blackberry... Delicious... :lovestruc :lovestruc :lovestruc

Ooooph, oooh...it is literally painful for me to see this picture. Kir Royale, we are no longer friends, get thee behind me.

Last night was DH's bday, but since our dinner ressies aren't until Saturday, we stayed in and clogged our arteries in celebration. I made a scrumptious mushroom and chevre pizza, of which we ate EVERY bite. And oh yes, there was a cake! I bought my sweetie a chantilly cream cake with fresh berries in the center (but we all know b/c it had berries, that makes it healthy). Oh my, everything so rich and decadent -- just what a birthday deserves!

It would have been fine if we'd stopped there. But it's a birthday, let's crack open a bottle of champagne! Ms. Brandi had her bottle of Creme de Cassis at the ready (seriously, it was sitting next to me on the couch side table...we were bonding). What's this?! Why is the champagne gone?! I've only had 2 small glasses (rrrr..I think..maybe). We haven't even had the cake yet. And you simply can't eat cake without bubbles! Oh heck, why not, pop open another one my good man!

And that is why I am up at 5 a.m. on a Saturday morning. Let me tell you, this is the time you do NOT appreciate saving money at Costco on that gigantic bottle of ibuprofen when it sounds like someone's shaking maracas in your brain. I regret every bit of garlic I put on that pizza.

So go ahead, order those scarlet devils on the boat, just remember I warned you :drinking1 :faint:

:teeth:

Oh dear, Brandi!!! Hope you're back in bed now and sleeping off the effects of your decadent dining experience - it's a bit like the DDE but you don't get 20% less hung over!!! :rotfl2:

... Having gallbladder removed on Friday 3/21 (that should keep me busy for a day or two).

Just remembered about this Denise! Hope the op went well and you're swiftly recovering! :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

Best wishes,
Karen...

Oh no!! I'm so sorry you are miserable!!! Happy Birthday to your husband, though!!

Yesterday was my birthday also, but we didn't celebrate in the same way. I did hope to try a Kir Royale, but couldn't find any Creme de Cassis. :sad1: DH took me out to our favorite Vietnamese restaurant; he got something new, but I got my favorite and we both enjoyed every bite! Then we went to buy stuff for the cruise. LOL New socks for everybody and undies for the 4 year old. I'm already packing up their outfits in Ziploc bags, and thought he needed new undies to go with his new outfits. :goodvibes We also found watersocks for everybody, so that's another mark off my checklist. I know everybody swears by Crocs, but I just can't do it. LOL So we decided on the sandles and tennis shoes we already have and bought watersocks to use at the beach. ;) We spent the same for 6 pairs of watersocks as we would for one pair of Crocs, so my bank account is happy with our choice as well.

Got word from Make a Wish today... they were able to get our four year old on the dolphin excursion with his sisters and dad (four year old is THRILLED), and they got us reservations for brunch! WOOHOO!!! Question about brunch... Our reservation is at 10:00, how long does the meal tend to take? I need to reserve babysitting.

How are everybody else's plans coming along? Has anybody received their Passporters? Am I the only one who has started packing? :rotfl:

I've started packing too! Just itty bitty things I've picked up here and there and tossed in a bag in my living room. I got visors for the kids, some swim shoes, and something else I can't remember right now. I just bought all new summer clothes for the kids (since they outgrew last years) and started washing them today. I also went and got them shoes yesterday morning before I went into surgery (I had my gallbladder out around 3pm). I am exhausted, in a lot of pain, and sitting here playing on the laptop and updating my trip to do lists. I'm obsessed - not even general anesthesia and pain can keep me from focusing on our Disney trip! (while other's may call it pathetic!)

OK - time for more Percocet to get through the evening!! It's funny- as they were wheeling me into the OR yesterday and the effects of the sedative were starting to hit I just kept saying "just be careful... I have a two piece bathing suit.... I swear that was my last thought as I drifted off to sleep!

I assume everything went well, then?? I'm so sorry that you are in such pain, but I hope you'll feel better now! At least you have the trip to look forward to and focus on while you recover!

I bought the boys new clothes also. They need them for the summer, and should not need them before we leave, so I washed them and packed them up already. Now I just need to get some things for the girls and some organizational things.
