May 10 2014 Disney Fantasy Western Caribbean Cruise Meet

Hi Pam ... welcome!! :goodvibes

Hi Everyone,

Just booked this cruise with 3 friends from another Disney Fan site.

I'm Pam from Indiana (no cubbie blue- we bleed crimson and cream here, and are still sad seeing Cody and Victor heading to the NBA) I'll be 58 when we cruise and am the mom of 4 (between 24yo -31yo right now.) I'm a runner and looking forward to the CC 5K.

I'd like to be in the FE but will check with the roomies before signing up officially.

This will be my 4th Disney Cruise (5th over all 1 Western Caribbean on the Freedom of the Seas which is why DH wasn't keen on doing the cruise and I'm traveling with the Disney friends.) I did a 4 night on Wonder a couple years ago and then the WB Panama Canal in Jan of 2011,Oct Hawaiian cruise in 2012. I loved the Hawaiian cruise- great weather and so relaxing.

We just booked yesterday so I'll encourage the roomies to come over and introduce themselves.

Hello fellow cruisers! I am soooo excited:cheer2:, can no wait till MAY, 2014.
I have been lurking on Dis since our 1st Fantasy cruise April, 2012. I am new to this message board thing, so please bear with me! I don't even know how to get those tickers up!!
So here our our "details"....
ME!!!!! Florida girl, WDW pro, been going since elementary school, have the benefit of living ~1 hour away!

DH!!!! Florida/NY'er "I am not going to Disney until we have kids" Well, we have 2 and took our 1st family trip last summer, after the cruise. I am slowly infusing the Mouse into his veins!

DS!!! Niko, he will be 7 at cruise time - the children DO NOT KNOW about our secret cruise booking. They have been talking about going back on the Disney cruise vacation since driving home after the inaugural Fantasy sailing, April, 2012

DS!! Little "G", he will be 4 at sail-time. He CONSTANTLY talks about Disney, Disney vacation, Disney cruise, Downtown Disney, the 'blue ship' (aka the one that goes b/w Fort Wilderness and MK), monorail AND watching YouTube videos of the ship - what can I say he likes to reminisce!

GrandMa! (my Mom) who brought us on our 1st Disney Cruise - we fell in love and HAD to book another one. (not sure what the official abbreviation is for her???:confused3)

We are cruising with my bff and her family (same gang on 1st Fantasy sailing). Last cruise we did Family suite with verandah, 6606. This time, we are cruising CONCIERGE! Lurking on the boards, I wish we could afford the 1 bedroom suite, but....pixiedust: dream sometimes do come true.

So that is me...can't wait, can't wait, can't wait!

Hi there! We are fortunate enough to be cruising concierge as well :cool1:, and our little dude will be "almost 4" when we sail. pirate:

Also, we are bringing his Pop-Pop (my dad) along as well!

If you want to PM, I'd love to hear which room/deck you are on. Our little guy is an only child, and it would be awesome if he could make a friend on-board.

:goodvibes

Welcome welcome! :goodvibes

we are also staying concierge this cruise ... celebrating my hubby's birthday in style on Deck 11!

Can't wait to get back on the Fantasy!

We will be in 12010?? I hope its one with an extra large balcony! We were a bit disappointed to learn that the concierge verandah is different than the non -concierge as it does not have a pull down murphy bed for Mom to sleep. One of the main reasons why I wish we could have the 1 bedroom!

Oh what is PM??
We are from Baltimore too!

PM is private message :) We are 7 doors down at 12024. We originally had the family, and pop-pop is helping us pay for the 1 bedroom upgrade for the exact same reason. I lucked out last week when a deck 12 1-bed opened and I grabbed it right up :-) According to MouseSavers, you should have the oversize veranda due to the "hump" on desks 11 & 12.

Thank you Pop-Pop, that is awesome! Mom paid for our last Disney Fantasy journey, maybe she will surprise us too! (wishful thinking!)
My boys love finding new friends :thumbsup2

So since we seem to have a good number of concierge folks checking in, or past concierge folks maybe, how do you decorate the doors? I believe the AllEars group usually has a door decorating contest. The concierge doors are wood or wood laminate & non-magnetic adhesives aren't allowed...so what can we do? Also, if we participate in the FE for the group, how can non-concierge folks get to our stateroom doors? Thanks for any thoughts!

We have friends who've visited Dunn's River Falls and said it was a really cool experience ... lots of walking though. It can also get crowded from what they told us since it's a pretty popular excursion with folks staying at resorts on the island as well as with cruise passengers.

Not sure what we want to do yet .... hoping the DCL website will give us some suggestions soon. I've check cruise critic - this port is a relatively new stop so it doesn't seem to have as many options as some of the other ports of call in the Caribbean.

I've read some reviews on cruise critic as well.... and as much as I'd like to try it, I don't think that I'll physically be able to, and it really doesn't sound like the kind of "waterfall" experience that I was hoping for. I hope that the DCL site will end up with something else that appeals to us. :)

I went on a Carnival cruise in 1985 and climbed the Dunn's River Falls ... It was beautiful, and fun, but I was a lot younger then :) ... The only advice I can give is wear a one piece swimsuit ... the guides tend to walk behind the girls in bikinis and are alway's smiling :)

PS ... what are VMKers ???

The Falls do look beautiful. ::yes::

VMK is the now-defunct "Virtual Magic Kingdom" online Disney game. A lot of people from the DIS played it and many of us met in real life and even had a few get-togethers at WDW. The game closed in 2008. My avatar over under my DIS name is what I looked in the game. lol

Hi

getting excited that we are nearly at the 365 day mark!!!

im not sure if everyone has joined the FE list, so i was wondering if it would be easier to set up a seperate group just for those who want to be part of the FE, so that we could keep track of how many we have, stateroom numbers etc

so looking foward to making my gifts ;) ;) :)

Hi everyone:

My son and his girlfriend can't cruise in May 2014 so they booked for September 2014, and we want to cruise together, so we changed our sailing to September.

I know you guys will have a great cruise. ::yes:: And I may peek in from time to time to see what you all are planning for Jamaica since our September cruise is the same itinerary as this. :)

I've done Dunn's River Falls twice (once when I was in school, and once a couple of years ago- very different experiences as you can imagine.) We enjoyed it greatly (I was 54 when I did it last) but we didn't go with a group and guide- just struck off on our own (3 DD's and SIL and I) and took turns leading, usually changing when someone fell down LOL. We came away with a great excursion and a few scrapes. You probably want shoes of some kind I would think.
