I must be the witch on this board! Everyone here seems to take such good care of their elderly parents. Mine are not moving in with me, not even for a month. My dad is in poor health and will probably go before my mom. My sister and brother and I have talked and none of us will take my mom in. Right now she is in good health but when she can not live alone then she will have to go to a home. I know that sounds mean but the 2 of us just could not live together.
You are not a witch at all....don't think that. I know, when it comes down to it, I will be the one taking care of my mom. She and my sister are scarily close but my sister could never bear any responsibility. I figure I have taken care of her before why should the future be any different, and no matter how much she upsets my tummy, I love her, have always tried to make her proud and would never let anything happen to her.

Your in-laws (out-laws) seem to be around a lot ... do they live near you? or just visit when it is cold up north?
They live on Anna Maria half the year and Ohio the other half...we had a really great time tonight. As long as MIL is not trying to clean or discipline the girls she is fine. She got splashed by the girls swimming and she didn't mind! I adore my FIL, he is so fantastic...he has so many stories....he was a Cleveland Chick at one point I think.

I am so looking forward to meeting you. DH and I met Jan (JLSE50) and her DH on our 9/29 Eastern. They were so nice and it will be great to see them again on the repo. I will try to remember to pm you our room number when we get it so we will be sure to meet. I definitely plan on being at the DIS meet but sometimes you just don't meet everyone then. The Dec. 8 thread is worse than this one to keep up with so I won't be posting much. It is just to hard to jump in sometimes. Is there anyone else on the Dec. 8 cruise who will be on the repo?

We are GTY Dec also, so we will have to PM room #s. I will try to make a point to find you at the first DIS meet. I will have on a lime green shirt....oh wait, so will 100 other people! :lmao:

Oh, did I mention the juicy neighbor details?

Yesterday a sheriff's car pulled up - out gets a cop and he lets a guy out of the back, the Hooter girl comes out of the house and then the guy goes and gets a tv out of the car. Then the cop leaves him there! I am no sure if he walked home or what!

That's weird! :confused3

I talked to my mom and she said that they were getting all the board and card games out and ready for Thanksgiving....I was like, oh, how nice. She did not ask me if we were coming, I think she automatically assumes...! Yikes!

Uh, Vanessa, you need to tell her you are having Thanksgiving at your house where everyone is welcome.

One brother is in SC and one is in Delaware. The one in Delaware is the one getting married this week.

I tried to get my mom to let me get her hair done for te wedding.. (itg really needs color) and she said no color....too expensive. My mom has more money than she will ever be able to spend in two full lifetimes.

Then she told me she will do anything I want with her hair...

Crazy...I need a drink

oh no, huge loud crack of thunder......just rolled and the sky lit up. Let's hope this isn't the one day of the year the satelitte goes out.

I'm not sure who will get to take care of my mom, or if she will wind up taking care of us! ;) She lives near my sister now, but my BIL is an abusive alcoholic and I know my mom would never live in his house. On the other hand, she adores Dennis - likes him better than me! :rolleyes1 Four of her grandchildren would take care of her also. She will have lots of choices if she ever needs it. Her genetics are very strong for living long and healthy. She has an aunt that is 102 and still lives alone and does everything for herself except driving. She even repaired a fence summer before last. :sad2: Some of the family scolded her for doing that, she said "Well, it needed to be done." My mom has that same outlook. She and my sis and her family (sans BIL) will be sailing with us this Dec, her first! She is 82.

Just wanted to write and say hi and thanks for the well wishes I got.

Between working on the house to get it ready to put up for sale , beths school issues and work theres just not enough hours in the day anymore!

Definitly looking forward to meeting everyone, but have to say that we may have to cancel this cruise, all depends on what happens before feb with selling the house and planning the move.We go back in a few weeks and should know more.

Taking beth to MNSSHP tonight, supposed to rain but keeping my fingers crossed it wont! Shes very excited about our costumes that we made!
Heather

I really hope you don't have to cancel the cruise.:sad2:
OH NO! I sure hope you don't have to cancel the cruise! :sad1:  Hopefully you had a good time at MNSSHP and were able to let go of your worries for at least a short time. We definitely need to see a pic of you and Bethany in your costumes!

I am having a pretty normal Sunday. Church, big meal at noon, laundry. But I am really really sad.

I was just sitting here trying to figure it out and I think I know why. This is parents weekend at Tech and we cancelled. Lots of reasons, but I just can't leave my mom alone and she will not stay with my DH. I really miss Daniel even though I just saw him last weekend.

I am starting to feel trapped. I work full time and I suggested to mom to go to her house (about 45 minutes away) today to gt her mail and get a dress to wear to my brothers wedding next weeknd. She said no...we can go tomorrow. I tried to explain I need to work tomorrow and today would be a much better day....as it is Sunday. She just said NO....we will go tomorrow....as if she did not even hear me.

When we started this the plan was 3 months with me, 3 months with one brother, 3 months back with me, and 3 months back with the other brother. Just so I could have a little break and we could all enjoy mom.

I said the other day, "It will be so nice for you to go to South Carolina when it gets cold here this winter" and she said...."There is no way in H**L I am going to SC and staying with your brother"...well I did not know what to say.
Lisa, this is so much going on at one time for you. No wonder you're sad. :sad1: As Noel suggested, I really hope you can talk to your brother in SC about your mother.

Sounds very frustrating Lisa!

So after church we headed out of town, had lunch with my mom and my aunt, then went to the zoo. I had forgotten that the only thing going on is the Zoo Boo. Our local zoo doesn't do that until next week, so I just didn't even think the zoo we went to would be doing it already. SO, we get there completely unprepared and are an hour away from home, so we couldn't just run home for Tyler's costume. We ran to a Goodwill store down the road and lucked out, finding a hockey jersey with a skeleton on it, and a very used hockey helmet, and Tyler was thrilled. He told me, "It's OK mom that I don't have my pirate costume because I can still use that for the Halloween party at school and trick or treating at my dad's." I'm so lucky he's such a good sport! So for $3.85, we had a makeshift costume that made him happy.
