There are some pretty amazing prizes coming up!

http://www.2008disneydreamcatalog.com/

The Castaway Cay one has two days on the Wonder, then you are dropped at the island, spend the night on a private yacht and are picked up the next day by the Wonder again. Pretty cool.

ok. time to go home!

.

Thanks for that link....there are some amazing new dreams! I think my favorite is the day at CC though...even over the trip to all the parks. Or NYE in the Castle, that one seems pretty amazing too. Wonder if they will be giving any of them out on the cruise? Has anyone "won" a dream on a cruise yet?

I'm glad you posted this! I am trying Spoodles for the first time the day I arrive on Oct21st:cool1: I love salmon, so maybe this is what I'll try. Any suggestions for an appetizer or dessert?

Kathe

I don't remember what we had for appetizer or dessert. But we love salmon and rib eye steak and compare them wherever we go and I do remember that Spoodles salmon is right up there with our very favorite ever!

We have gotten bad news here this evening. My brother's wife is not expected to survive the night....without a miracle. She fell over 3 months ago, lay with her leg under her for hours with the circulation cut off. My brother got her up when he got home and by morning the leg was not looking good. They got her to the hospital and she was sent by life flight to Seattle. Her leg eventually had to be amputated, and it seemed she was doing ok except for an infected bed sore on her back. My dear sweet brother was able to stay with her for the first 2 weeks then had to go back to work to pay the bills. He was spending his 2 days off driving the 5 hours to spend some time with her. This afternoon he got a call saying her heart was "doing funny stuff" to quote him, her breathing is labored and her kidneys have been shutting down for the last few days. They have moved her to intensive care again and told him needs to get there ASAP. My niece who was just here visiting this weekend is driving him over and their other children are also on their way. I am just so sad for him. They are the only couple we know that are more devoted to each other than we are. He absolutely adores her. He told me early on that without her there is no reason for him to live. Although I know he will keep going on, I also know he will be lost and I don't know how to help him. All prayers for them will be appreciated.

Then I also got a call that my favorite uncle is at the hospital in Spokane with his wife. She too is in intensive care. They are in their 80's and married only 3 years. They are just so cute and in love. It did not sound like she was in imminent danger, but she does have a blood clot in her groin area. That can be very dangerous, but she is getting treatment to dissolve it. I called and talked with my uncle and he sounded so very tired. My cousin said he was at his door at 5 am this morning with the dog for them to watch. He has over a 3 hour drive from his house to my cousin's so I know he was on the road before 2 am. I told him he needs to get over to the hotel and get some rest and then get a fresh start with the docs in the morning. He said he would do that.....I hope he did. Prayer for them too please.

So I left the vice principal a voice mail and email letting him know I need to talk to him about Star Testing. I am SO bummed that they changed the timing to be the week of May 12. I have no idea what will happen. Truly, to miss the testing would be ideal as then we wouldn't have as much make-up homework. But I don't know if they will "let" us miss it. Our school is very open to traveling during the school year. Some families take their kids out for 3 weeks to make a trip to China or somewhere. It's just the Star testing that puts a twist to this. I always thought it would be the week before our cruise so we'd be in good shape.

I figure the sooner I try to make alternative arrangements, the better chance I have. I'm just not sure how they handle this....So scared...:confused3 :scared:

Oh my....read your post after I posted about something silly like the kids school. I'm so sorry for you and your family. My prayers are with you and them.

Sandy:

I loved your story. We saw the Flying Tigers and LOVED the musuem. Such a touching story. A part of our US history that I didn't even know about. How proud to have your dad be part of that greatness. My sister bought a piece of artwork from their museum of the Yangzee River, we crusied down it for 4 days. We saw the warriors...I have my own theory, a bit like a Disney discovery if you ask me :rolleyes1 lucky we got to do Hong Kong disney too. Our friend is from Chongqing saw some pandas too, but it was raining and we didn't think it was such a great experience. the pandas at San Deigo Zoo look in much better place than those in China.

Noel, thank you so much for your heart felt words. I know you are close in distance and heart to us and even sharing the news with my mom that we have another friend that has a house at the lake has been good for us.

oh, I just thought of a question, have you had any problems with bats up there? We have a big investation, I have a quote from one person to rid, but I need to get another, do you have any body you would recommend for that kind of stuff up there?

off to see The Kingdom tonight, our dear neighbor is giving us a babysitting night with the kids, so we're freeeeeee!!!!! can't wait!

We haven't had an infestation with bats but I would be happy to call our neighbor, Rick Peters as he knows practically everyone up there. He has been coming to Lake Almanor since he was 6 months old and he is now 62. I will call him in the AM for a recommendation. By the way, we just put on a new roof at the Lake and according to my sister, the house looks even more gorgeous!!

John and I are so terribly sorry that your family has had such devastating news. Our thoughts and prayers are with your families during this tragic time.

Lisa, I think you are very wise to get the school's take on this before you proceed with your cruise plans.

So sorry to hear this...you and your family will be in our thoughts and prayers tonight. I don't really have many contacts in seattle area hospitals, but I do have some...if there is anything I can do, please PM me.

Marilyn and Lisa - you could always mail it to my house and I can hand deliver! Let me know what you think.

Thanks for the offer - sounds like a great idea.

We do too!

Another great option for counter service is the food court at Coronado Springs. Lots of selection, and more like a real meal. It never seems to be really busy, and the food was decent last time we were there.

We love The Pepper Market at Coronado Springs too!

Our anniversary is on Oct 6, this coming Saturday. We hope to be tucked away on the Oregon Coast for a couple of nights.

The Northwest dresses pretty casual. I just wore navy blue slacks and top with my favorite Coldwater Creek jacket. Dennis just wore navy slacks and a dress shirt.

LOVE Coldwater creek!!!

Our best friend that came from Idaho took photos, he said he will get the film developed (yep, he is a traditional photographer and still uses film!) and send us a disk. I will have Dennis post a few when it arrives.

LOVE Film still too!!

Looking forward to seeing the pics!

Angie:

Sorry to hear of your families health concerns. I'll have you in my thoughts and prayers for comfort.

Thanks Noel, I'd be happy to hear from a local on their thoughts on this issue. Truely bats in the bellfry.

Lisa, you have the right to opt out of the test as a parent. I understand that the principal may not want this as I'm sure your kids are top scoring kids. As I suspect that most of the kids in Woodside are. I'm pulling my kids out knowing it will hurt the school they are in as we are the minority that score on the top end, but frankly this time with our family is my priority right now. Might sound a bit selfish towards our school community, but I'm more thinking of what is right in the big picture of my family these days.

The Kingdom was very thought provoking. I just don't get the terror concept. It solves nothing.

Nite all

Happy Anniversay to all who are celebrating!! How fun!!

My 20th Wedding Anniversary is this Thursday....the 4th of Oct. We went on the MED cruise to celebrate, so we are not going to do anything at all special. I think we decided to go out to lunch...so I won't miss BUNCO on Thursday night!!

I am hoping to finally go to the beach this weekend.

www.bethanycam.com

I have not been since before we left for Europe. I miss it so much. Don can't go.....I hope my mom will come, but if not, she can stay home with Don.

It is supposed to be a beautiful weekend.....way above normal...perfect beach weather!!

Happy Anniversary Lisa!!party: party:

We were planning to go to DL this weekend, but it is too crowded and we can't get ressies... So we are going to go to our place in Bodega Bay also at the beach, for a lovely weekend! (I hope!)

Have a great week and a great weekend!

Did you guys know about this Year of A Million Dreams prize?

Reign at Disney’s Private Island for the Day: One winner will be awarded Disney’s private Bahamian paradise for the day. Castaway Cay, the Disney Cruise Line private island, will allow the winner and up to three guests to lounge in the lap of tropical luxury – all by themselves – with Disney amenities at their fingertips, including gourmet dining, recreation, beachfront cabana massages, entertainment and overnight accommodations on a private yacht.

Pretty darn cool! :thumbsup2

Me me me!! It's got to be my turn.:lmao:

Marilyn,
Sorry it didn't turn out like you were hoping.I haven't had a crock pot for years. I had one when I was first married, but was afraid to leave it plugged in while I was at work:rolleyes: Kind of defeated the purpose of having one! One day I went to check on my meal and one of the rubber "feet" had melted right down and the counter was hot:scared: I never did get a new one. Of course, I'm sure they are made a lot better and safer today, but I just bring myself to get a new one.

Kathe
 Good job you were home that day.

Just doing a drive by to say HI!. I'm headed up to Payson for the next 3 days wtih a busload of Junior Highers going camping. I don't expect to have many brain cells left when I return, so I won't try to catch up. I'll just hop back in when I recover.

Go Diamondbacks!

Oh Angie, so sorry to hear your news. How awful for such a thing to happen from 'a fall'. You just never know when something major like this is going to hit. Then your uncle with his new wife being so ill too.

Lots of love, and prayers for youu and the family.

I can't believe they would change the date for these tests at a time when many parents might have scheduled vacations.
