Don't you just love how kids tell everybody everything, whether it's something you want repeated or not?

Sophia's first grade teacher knew EVERYTHING that went on at home - sometimes to our dismay. That girl will tell all, so you have to carefully watch what you say around her, because it WILL be repeated!

I just read it to Johnny, he said, well thank goodness John posted.

I can fully understand the whole registration thing. Lilly was full bred had full registration and we could have bred her. She, had a fun night along the way somewhere.....we also had a full bred daschaund for a while, Buddy. My sister's Pixie is a full bred mini I don't want to spell it, but chiuaua.

To me, this seems really odd....so how did the silvers come about? I have no clue, but goodness they are so cute. It's almost like breeding outside your race? It seems so silly. I can't think of any breed of dog that does not have any issue....me personally....I have had...a cocker spaniel (ear troubles) rotties (hip and eye issues).....just to start.

This is a first for us....we have always "known" someone who had a litter....I didn;t know this was on the same wave length or as cutthroat as beauty pagents!

Hi All...just checking in....burnt out over the weekend....had a long to do list on monday....crashed today. I just got caught up on reading but have too many pages to go back and reply to. I'll try my best to get some of it done.

Mostly....congratulations to Marilyn that her precious little Molly Kate got here right on schedule. Would love to see pics Marilyn.

About the dogs V, there are people who care about dogs, and those who care about the "purity" of breeds. All of that is OK, but why insult other people who also care about their dogs?

BTW, the reason you REALLY need a reputable breeder for purebred dogs is because all of the inbreeding to achieve purity sometimes reinforces recessive traits and health problems. That is why certain breeds have certain problems, and only reputable breeders who do genetic testing should breed purebred dogs.

On the other hand, "mutts" like labradoodles help avoid that by breaking that "inbred" chain. There is even a term "hybrid vigor" for the positive influence that cross-breeding has on the general gene pool.

Don't beat yourself up too much V. I think I told you about what happened with our dog Dudley, and how we had to put him down when he bit someone. To this day I still feel like I failed him - and Sophia still asks about him.

It was one of the saddest days of my life.

What you said is really true though. You do not recognize how much you depend on the unconditional love of a dog until they are not there any more. They can be so much work, trouble, and expense. I have to tell you though since you told your story, I have tried to spend even more time with Lexi, make sure I take her on her walks, and play with her as much as I can. She is a scamp, but a real sweetheart too.

I will tell you again, you have to read "Life with Marley". BTW, it is about a yellow Lab.

Sadly, our "wash your own dog" place closed. Not enough business. He told me I was one of a handfull of his regular customers. People here in Canton OH just are not too open to new ideas.

I have to speak up for those who are suggesting a dog from a shelter. I think it is very noble to save a dog (or a cat of a rabbit or whatever) we have wanted puppies too. actually I wanted the puppy(ies) I also wanted a specific breed, Border Collie. I think if we ever get another dog I would try to see if I could find a rescue or shelter dog. BUT!!!! We have out really old 15+ Casey girl who cried all day and got us up twice last night 1am and 3am, so for now we are on the other end of the dog cycle we are ready to say good bye to ours. (but not willing to put her down)

Me too! My late night last night is taking its toll.

I am getting more and more tired every night. Since Football season started, and baseball season has heated up, I am not getting to bed before 12:00 (and sometimes later). I get up at 6:00 every morning.

Of course I can't give up my nightly DIS, and I am reading a new series of books too that I can't seem to put down - so there is a lot competing for my attention.

Amy and Sophia go to bed by around 9:00, and this is my "free" time. I go to bed last, and get up first every day.
