I'm heading to the Hotel Del Coronado on Tuesday for a 4 day conference. DH was planning on coming up on Thursday to spend one of the nights but now may not be able to make it b/c of work (which would be a huge bummer). I was looking forward to experiencing the hotel together.

I just realized that I will be away during this week of season premieres! Argg! Hope my Tivo doesn't fail me now! I wish I had Slingbox and could watch from the hotel room.

I just got back from a 40th birthday friend for a friend from high school. They live out your way Karen, in Alamo. It was an amazing estate (my friend's grandmother's house)- 80 acres. It felt like being at a Great Gatsby party, but without the fancy party! There was only about 30 people there, and it was cold. The party was by the pool. Very simply BBQ, nothing fancy. No one is living at the estate anymore except in the caretaker's home. The grandmother's whose house it was, died two months ago. It was a bit sad, thinking that this great home was going to leave the family (it will be on the market). But I guess it is very complicated.

It was good to see old friends. A party on a school night though...that is always hard.

Off to bed early now. I'll try to keep up on the road. Lisa

Ah, the Del!! One of my favorite places though it is becoming a different place then when I was younger. I have an all time favorite picture of my youngest DD and I on the beach in front of the Dell. Plus, they have a great book called Noel at the Dell!!

What a sad story about your friends grandmother's estate. So many large estates get sold when the last living member of the older generation passes on as the cost to maintain those estates can be quite prohibitive!!

Your Gatsby reference reminds me that my husband's sister belongs to the Art Deco society which actually does a Great Gatsby party every year.

My grandfather's family home, St. Margaret in the UK had to be sold a few years ago because the death duties after my cousins husband passed away were so large, that their was just no choice.

Night Lisa, talk to you hopefully at the Del.

I have been a sci fi buff since I was a child. We are watching The Stand tonight on sci fi.

I watched a few hours of it earlier. Then we had to switch over and watch the season premiere of Simpsons. Also Family Guy tonight was a re-interpretation of Star Wars using the Family Guy characters. We had seen a preview of it a Comic-Con and while not fans of the show normally we wanted to see the whole episode - it was pretty funny.

Watched the Langolier's this morning.

Thank you all for the congratulations on the arrival of baby MollyKate. We had such problems with communications yesterday with our son, and didn;'t manage to talk to him till this morning. All is well, new mummy Karen should be home with baby this afternoon, so we can go anytime.

John - great pictures of you all at the game, and what a cute bear with cute Sophia!!!

Kathe - we had our other son and daughter in law living with us for 3 months over the period they had their first child a few years ago. It worked well for us, probably because we have a great daughter in law, as it seems is the case with you too. Enjoy the time.

I did a few scrapbooks and I am NOT crafty or artistic. I love my books though. DrHug commented that they "are supposed to be more elaborate." NOPE, they are supposed to reflect who I am since they are mine! Do your scrapping and don't worry about being as artistic as your friends. Just let it reflect you.:thumbsup2

Having "taught" scrapbooking for 10 years to many much more crafty women than myself, I have to say that what I have learned is that the pictures are what are important, not the "craftiness and elaborateness" of the pages. Sometimes over done pages detract from the pictures.

Simple is best, and you will be done quicker with simple pages!

Karen

I am wiped out...

I laid out all the girls clothes for the week....am on the fourth load of laundry (yes, we have tons!), did all the dishes....cleaned out some Easter decorations that I am taking to work (we have a yard sale cube), vacuumed and am sitting down to take a break.

Gosh V!! You've gotten more done the last two mornings before I have even gotten out of bed!!

No wonder your exhausted!

I am busy really late... really I am!

Lisa,

Yes, Alamo has some great houses with huge lots! I grew up going to many a party out there...

I envy you staying at the Del! I have only visited it once when I was younger!

Of course, now that it's part of DVC points we hope to make a trip there in the next year or so!

Hava a great trip!

Karen

Finaly caught up and it's just me myself and I!!

Off to bed I go!

Have a great Monday everyone!

I'm still on about 11 in the Heroes first series. I am not sure I will be through before we fly off to Orlando which will annoy me!!

No spoilers about the new series please.:)

Your laying out clothes for your girls is a great time saver I'm sure. Makes perfect sense to me, so understand that I'm NOT knocking the idea, it just cracked me up because I was imagining what Tyler's reaction would be if I did that for him! :rotfl2: :rotfl2::rotfl2: I can just see him saying, "What the heck are you doing?" :rotfl: He's picked out his own clothes ever since he started getting himself dressed when he was 2 because my choices weren't up to par with his tastes! :lmao: Even at 2, he absolutely HAD to have everything matching. And when he started wearing underwear, even his underwear and socks had to match his clothes. If he wears a Spiderman outfit, he has to wear Spiderman underwear and socks. :sad2:

I'm sort of bummed that I never experienced any of those hilarious stories people tell about the funny outfit combinations their kids wear when they start picking out their clothes. I kept waiting for that great photo op and it never happened! :rotfl:

Well, they both love to pick out their outfits, however they are a sight which is why we need to put them out beforehand.

V - the game is set for 8pm. Yuck!!! :sad2:
Yuck! Almost makes me want to stay home and sell the tickets...!

OMG . . . I am like 50 pages behind . . .

Oh well . . .

Face Painting before the game - of course a PINK Chief Wahoo . . .

So cute!
VERY cute! But what is she holding with her bear? My first thought was a corndog, but I don't see a stick and it looks too pale to be a corndog.
I laughed out loud on this!!!!! It's a bat!! :lmao:

My lips are SEALED Marilyn. No Heroes talk here!

another Monday. Yesterday...I am not sure what was wrong with the girls...Samantha was helping in the kitchen and knocked over a glass which broke...then at dinner she somehow flipped my plate on to the floor. Then a bit later she managed to knock over a candle - more glass....and neither of them were listening at all. I was at my wits end...it was pouring out so I couldn't really go walk around outside...
John was wanting to watch football and kept trying to put a movie on or something for them but it wasn't working...I really was glad to come to work this morning...I hate to say that but they both want to hang on me and for me to hold them constantly. Samantha is just to tall for me to carry any more and this really seems to hurt her feelings.
Hopefully tonight will be better....I just needed a little break.

of course I stayed up until about 1am reading...then awoke at 4am and dozed until about 7am...so I will be tired tonight I am sure.

Thank you so much to everyone for the kinds words :grouphug: You truly are a special group of people :goodvibes
Today has just been like a whirlwind :upsidedow I wanted to get up to the hospital before visiting hours so I could have Serenity all to myself, so I was up early and decided to bake muffins to take ( Brian is staying overnight too, the nurses put a cot in the room) and both Brian and Samantha hate the hospital food. I kept almost getting out the door, but they kept taking turns calling me to ask me to bring something with me..you know, baby clothes, the car seat, slippers, apples, phone rechargers....it went on and on...LOL. Finally I told them that was IT! I was coming up to see and hold that baby:angel: After a few hours of visiting, I finally tore myself away, I had to pick up a cake for my daughter's birthday , come home and rake leaves, yep, that time of year again, and wash and sort baby clothes and finish getting their room ready. Also had to clean the house as they are coming home tomorrow and everyone is calling and wanting to come over for a visit over the next few days. I sure wish this had all taken place when I was off work for 6 weeks this summer! I'm exhausted already;)
Kathe

How wonderful you are being so flexible, good luck to all of you!!

Thank you! As far as I know her parents don't watch Firefly:confused3 Samantha says the inspiration for the name came from the Serenity Prayer.

Lots of work, yes, but I'm really not complaining.Actually, I thought of you today. I think I read one of your posts last night about how you were going to have a nap, then decided to do a load of laundry, go to the store....etc, etc ... and never did get that nap? My day was something like that, but I knew from the start there would be no napping:rotfl:

Kaylee-Thanks for the congrats. This is my very first grandchild, and it really is exciting!

I'm having quite a year...my daughter was married so I became a mother-in-law, son moved out west so I became an empty nester, turned the big 50 :scared1: and now not only am I a grandma, but I'm once again sharing my home, with Brian, Samantha and little Serenity!
Stay tunedpopcorn:: :lmao: :lmao:

Wow, the coming and going is crazy isn't it? Same at my house,

Daniel goes to college
Mom moves in
Vanessa moves in
Drew (Nephew) moves in
Kat (Nephew's girl friend) moves in
Kat moves out (found an apartment)
Drew moves out Wednesday when he leaves for France for the school year there to teach English.

Always something going on at my house too!! Enjoy it while you can!!
Lisa

You guys are always so busy...where do your girls stay while you are working? I remember when my kids were little and there were days when going to work was just a blessing!! So I really understand,

we have a preschool at the hospital where I work, so they both go there. The teachers are fantastic and it's a great program. They also feed them breakfast, lunch and two snacks!

well I still have not heard anything on the job front. I am hoping and praying no news is good news.

I just met with my new boss...he likes bi-weekly meetings. He seems very genuine in my growth here. That's such a change from what we are used to. A welcomed change!

I accomplished quite a bit on house cleaning yesterday....but I did not enjoy one bit of it. If I had the money....I would hire someone...mainly just to pick things up off the floor! No matter how many times it seems I pick something up, something replaces it immediately!
