Tina-thanks so much for checking in with us. Continued prayers and PD to you too.

Prayers and PD to Linda too (I think it was Linda)....hope her treatments are going well too.

Hope I didn't miss anyone...didn't mean to.

 :grouphug: s and pixiedust: to everyone!

V - you, John and the girls are still coming up to meet w/ me & Kathe for breakfast at Boma's on the 27th of October, right???

BTW -
33 weeks from this Saturday!!! WOOHOO!! :cool1: :thumbsup2 :woohoo:  :dance3: :yay: :cheer2:

I have to meet with my new boss tomorrow for an hour.....he wants to check in with all his people once a week. Once a month would be better for me!

Better than a boss that ignores you!

I guess I'm the only one on now....

Sitting here typing/playing/DISing during the commercials....watching the Grey's Anatomy episode that is leading up to the new show with Addison (which starts next Wednesday).

Does anyone know anything about digital cameras?? I'm looking to buy a new one and am considering the Nikon D40 or the Pentax K100D and was hoping to get some opinions. Anyone?

Ah! I'm not alone!

Hi John! How did your day go?

I was just going to say that I am here Monica.

My day went GREAT because the Indians WON AGAIN!

Swept the Tigers!

Magic number down to THREE, and we may get to see them clinch the pennant this weekend!

I know quite a bit about digital cameras Monica, but only the ones I have, and I always have bought Canon for still Cameras. I have a Digital Rebel XT that I love, and a digital elph for a pocket camera. No experience with other brands.

They looked so cute when I saw it. They have it at the Scottsdale Fashion Square and when I went by my DD was maybe 2...way too young but I still remember the place. Paradise Valley mall is closer to us and they have the Arista Curlz place there.

But there isn't a Nordstrom at the PV mall:rolleyes1 !!!

At least there will be one in North Scottsdale / Phoenix soon!

Glad to hear they won again! My family is probably not very happy - the Tigers are the Detroit Tigers, right?? My family lives in a Detroit suburb, so... even though I don't know if they are die hard fans or not.

Is the camera you have a SLR? I'm looking for a relatively light SLR that doesn't cost tooooo much moola. I have a land/sea one (can't think of the brand right now) that has the underwater casing, and want to keep this just for the underwater shots. Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Thank you for the kind comments regarding Kayla's birthday party. Our girls LOVE to dress up. Pretty much every day. They have a whole closet of just dresses!

Made a last minute decision last night to join some of our friends from Oregon in San Jose Friday night. Going to go to the Oregon vs Stanford game! Very excited - for those who love sushi and know the San Jose area - we are going to Miaki's (the one in Palo Alto though)!! This is one of our favorites.

GO DUCKS!! Cut down the Trees!

Just looked on MacWorld's web site, and the D40, K100T, and the Rebel XTi all received the same high rating.

Things to consider when making a choice:

What kind of media does each camera use, and do you already have some of that kind of media? (Canon uses CF cards - don't know about the others)

Do you already have lenses from the other companies that are compatible?

When you buy a DSLR, you are also buying into a family of lenses and accessories. You may also want to look at those offerings before making a choice.

All that said, these are all reputable camera companies, that make great gear, and you will probably be happy no matter which one you choose.

Haven't joined in the baseball talk John. We don't want to jinx our Diamondback's! Hopefully they can hang on to their small one game lead. It would be neat to have a Indians vs Diamondbacks World Series! Small wagers would be a must!

Yes, Detroit Tigers . . .

Yes, mine is a Digital SLR - you can actually buy mine with a lens right now for about $699 - I bought mine for $999 with the same lens. The price really came down since they upgraded it with the XTi. The XTi has more pixels, and a larger LCD on the back.

I really love this camera. Of course, my old film camera was also a Canon SLR, a Canon A-1.

That would be cool.

I can root for the Dbacks since they are in the NL.

Until the World Series that is!

We can have a DOD wager or something like that!

Hello to all my fellow cruisers. Surgery went well on Monday. I am feeling fine, just taking it slow and easy.

I did read the boards here a bit and am very sorry to hear about Nan's Mother. Much :pixiedust: and prayers to Nan and her Mom for a positive outcome on the PET scan.

Noel, been thinking about you since Monday non stop. So glad you are on the mend. thanks for the wishes on mom. we're hanging in there.

Looks like im going to San Jose Nov 2-5 to help a friend teach.Anyone up for a mini meet there? Hate going there sometimes I end up stuck in the Holiday Inn at night twidling my thumbs with boredom, but I def love the cooler weather!

would love to mini-meet. keep us posted on what & when you are here and we'll stick our southbay heads together for a fun meeting place.(karen, maybe you can zip over and join us too? :woohoo: )

Thanks John. I enjoyed your post about baseball. My grandfather played professional baseball many moons ago.

what team??? such cool family history.

Oh Nan, I'm sooooo sorry to hear more bad news about your mom. Is she of sound mind that she knows what's going on and can make decisions for herself? If so, she can choose what she is comfortable with doing and know that she gets to do what she wants. That's important. All you can do is love and support her and comply with her wishes. I know how taxing it is on you and the family. Just hang in there and be strong. If you need extra hugs and positive prayers and pixie dust and love, know that you have it in abundance right here from all of us. Don't forget to get lots of hugs from Molly and Wilson too. It helps! You're constantly in my prayers and thoughts for a positive outcome.:cutie: :goodvibes :cutie:

thanks Deb, I'm working on those hugs with the kids everyday. it is hitting them hard as they love their Grammie very much.

I know quite a bit about digital cameras Monica, but only the ones I have, and I always have bought Canon for still Cameras. I have a Digital Rebel XT that I love, and a digital elph for a pocket camera. No experience with other brands.

ditto, love our Digital Canon Rebel XT (and the SRL rebel we had before it) and I have the pocket version Cannon powershot SD700 IS. I used the pocket one in China the whole time. My pictures are close in quality to what I saw my sister do on her biggie Digital and I had mine in my pocket the whole trip (easy to carry)

Tonight is Girl Scout Leader meeting & Middle School PTA meeting and Boy scout Pack meeting. Paul and the kids are off to the pack meeting, I will double duty at my leader meeting and PTA (lucky they are on the same school campus)

Made some plans for this weekend....Four Seasons Beverly Hills American Girl Package for Friday night, looking at Ritz Carlton in Huntington for Sat night. A bit of a splurge, but we're worth it ;)

off to my meetings....

Thanks John for the input...will need to check into what the Pentax takes. I know the Nikon takes SD which is what I have right now. As Deb would say "DOD for you!" (or it could be a beer :rotfl: ).

Now THAT would be interesting!!

Didn't tell you yet that I loved them

Molly did lots of the Libby Lu stuff in years past...seems that 10 is now too old for that :sad2: :sad1:

sounds like a great weekend plan. that game will be soooo fun! we'll be in LA or I'd suggest a mini-meet for a drink or something....oh well next time. Maybe Noel or Lisa (calmom) are up for a visit???

travel safe (go stanford) (sorry I had too...)
