Okay, some more firsts. Vanessa had her first pedicure tonight. (That what was I wanted for my birthday...the 4 girls went for a pedicure!) Annie is in the backround. Pedicures are not normal in Norway. We are having fun and when she came home from her first day at school today, I thought of Holly and Tyler. I bet her day was a lot like his!!

What fun...a girls day out pampering...the best way to celebrate your 50th! I see Annie in the background and realize that she is your baby...so I was wrong when I posted that Gretchen was...probably a good thing to have one younger still.

Thanks Venetia, I think they're beautiful, but a little elaborate for me to pack in my suitcase....I think if I wear black pants and a red shirt I'll be fine!:dance3: :yay: :dance3:

I have been thinking about her all day. I have been looking to see if she has posted.

I just heard tonight that a friend of mine (also named Deb) who found out her cancer was back about 2 weeks ago (had lymph nodes removed) got cellulitis from the surgery. She can not start chemo until it clears up.....5-6 weeks now. She is very sick, like Deb, but has the cancer on top of it to try and manage.

I hope our Deb is okay......
Lisa

So sweet of you and others to care...I had a horrible ordeal, but I'm fine. Much better than what your friend is going through. You wonder, how bad can it get...I'll send her positive thoughts and prayers!:wizard: :cloud9: :wizard:

My goodness you've done a lot already today!! I'm tired just reading about it!!

Sitting in shorts at the moment. I enjoy them as well. We usually have an indian summer; i.e. normal for California to be warm all through October!

Heal, Heal, Heal!!! Stay off your legs as much as you can!

Karen

I do try and stay off them as much as possible...but some things just have to get done!:surfweb: :confused3 :surfweb:

Deb,

Or... Angel could just stay with your DD...:rolleyes1

Ella would be happy!! (You know me, cat person!!):cat:

Karen

I miss my Angel puppy...I want her back if she's going to behave...if not, I will have to find her another home...DD does not want to keep her, says she is too much work.
:scared1: :confused3 :hippie:

Hi everyone,
I've been spending all my time these last few days working on things for my class reunion (high school, 40 yrs!) which I'll be leaving for in 9 days. I'm doing centerpeices for the tables, which I still have a little bit to finish up, and a slide show that will be shown at the dinner and later burned on a DVD, along with pictures taken during the weekend. I've been scanning pictures like crazy: our yearbook, plus my own photos from over the years. Also spending time Googling "60s fads", "60s music", etc.:hippie: for pictures to include as well. It's been a lot of fun but has totally consumed me! This morning early, before it got too hot, I had to tear into a corner of boxes and trunks in my garage that hadn't been touched in years because I was determined to find some newspaper clippings and other graduation memorabilia that I KNEW I had kept. SUCCESS! I finally found it, plus a few other gems in one of the trunks, but now my garage is in such disarray that I can't get my car in there! :scared1: Oh well...I guess I'll be parking in the driveway for awhile!

I'm still trying to get my new glasses worked out. Today I went back again, after having the lenses made 3 times and they still weren't right. I gave up on the style I'd wanted--they just weren't going to work with my Rx, (progressives, which I've worn for 15 years) so I chose a different style; they're supposed to be ready by the end of the week. Grrrrr.

Finally, my dear computer is acting a little buggy :sad2: (I've been working it to death with all the scanning and photo editing, etc.) so I had to shut it down early :headache: and tomorrow first thing will be getting some tech support from Apple.

Yadda, yadda, yadda...:dance3: just wanted to touch base with everyone. I try to get on a little bit each day and skim a few pages :surfweb: but I haven't been able to keep up with it all.

Jackie and Peg, I'd still like to get together with you guys (and anyone else who can make it). Would either Mon. the 17 or Tues the 18 work for you for dinner somewhere? I'll be in valley both of those days so let me know--better do it by PM in case I keep falling behind.

 and  to everyone and I'll pop on when I can.:)

Sounds like lots of work, but so much fun...can't wait for these pics!popcorn:: :yay: popcorn::

Deb, I'm so sad to hear about your experience yesterday. No one should be treated in such a manner.

I also wanted to let you know that I am making a stop at the Santa Barbara Hotel on my lunch time walk to see about any more info on winerys in the area and then will get the brochures sent out to you.

Take care and keep the postive outlook we have come to know you for.:goodvibes

Yup...you're absolutely right....yesterday is over so move on...thanks for your support and encouragement...sometimes I even need to be reminded.

Thank you so much for doing everything to get me some brochures. John and I had our first date at a wine tasting and it has become a theme in our marriage...we love to do the tours and tastings and we're so looking forward of taking advantage of the wineries in your area and checking them out. Thank you so much again for doing this for us!:woohoo: :cutie: :woohoo:

Surely there is another doctor you could go to. I would report him to the State Medical Board and I would include photos of the legs. That is just not okay.

I so agree Angie.

Deb-what a jerk that doc was, I would have smacked him! I'm sorry for you! It's very frustrating to have a doctor treat you in such an insulting way. I'm sorry. :sad2:

OH MY GOSH!!! What happened to the caring and compassion doctors are supposed to have for their patients who are suffering?! I'm sure if the shoes were reversed, he'd be singing a different tune. So sorry you had such a rotten experience. Quite shocking! If I were treated like that, I'd want his (fill in the blank here) in a vice!

EllaEnchanted

Oh no, Deb - that is terrible.

Hope you feeling okay now?

Scottishwee35

Deb, I am so sorry that you experienced such a terrible ordeal. What your doctor did was beyond unprofessional. You need to contact the medical ombudsman (patient advocate) for the wound care clinic for resolution. I would NEVER, EVER let that doctor touch my wounds again.

Deb,

That is an awful story. I would write to the hospital adminstrator as well.

PTA is actually kind of under control... I am just waiting for the next crisis to happen.

We had a fire here on the mountain by our home. They blocked off our road and had structural fire trucks out all night so our homes would not burn. DD could not sleep she was so worried about evacuation. She has not slept really well since, she wakes up every night. I am hoping she feels secure again soon.

I am just core dumping, can you tell? We had to move DD's ice time to mornings on Wed and I am the walking dead today.

I am going to Berlin next week. I just found out friday. Anyone have any good advice?

I need a vacation....

Kim

Sounds like you need a new doctor Deb . . .

Deb:

Sorry to hear your horror doctor story. I agree that no doctor has the right to treat a patient like that. I'm saddened to know that many people (me being one of them during my first delivery) don't speak up during the act and call the doctor (in my case nurse) on what they are doing. I'm not normally a person that is one to kowtow to anyone, but during my delivery with Molly I just thought it was suppose to hurt, so during my pelvic exams (with Nurse Rachet) it hurt like hell. After the fact I realized she was mean and did not have to touch me like she did. There was a shift change in the middle of my labor (thank you lord) and the next nurse was much better and had a correct touch. Never should a pelvic exam make one feel like they have been violated. 10 years later I still regret that I didn't report her. I can only hope that she didn't and doesn't treat any other women like she did me that day.

So Deb for those of us who were chicken (& full of postpartum blues) Stand on your hind legs (no pun intended) and scream about your treatment so that darn doctor won't hurt another person like he did you.

I'm stepping off my soap box now.

p.s. from now on take Dizy with you to your appointments and throw him at anyone who isn't nice to you !!!!

Thanks everyone for giving me the reinforcement that I needed to fight this guy. John wants to do the same thing that Holly said she would do.

I don't want to go back to him, but I think I'm limited with my insurance options....I'll have to check it out before my next appointment in one week.

John wrapped both legs for me tonight and they are much better now. The visiting nurse is due to be here on Friday. No thanks to him, I will continue to heal.:grouphug:  :grouphug:

I have to tell you the funniest story. I was at school helping the first day of k and the principal had tissues out just for the parents! It was so cute. The kids were totally stoked and the mom's were tissue laden.

That's so funny coz it's so real! I remember taking DGS Tom to his first day at kindergarden and getting all misty eyed...now he's driving. WOW it goes fast!:cool1: :rotfl2: :cool1:

I don't have any great answers for you, except, work on it now!!! I did the same things as you V(Jaide and Taylor are 3.5 yrs apart) and Taylor wants to do everything like her big sister. Last night we had major meltdown because I wanted Taylor in bed before Jaide. Because Taylor napped at preschool, we always let them go to bed at the same time and after seeing how tired she was last night, and knowing Jaide would have more homework now in 4th grade, we started the separate bedtimes and it was total drama!!! We also have to watch because Jaide is very quick to give into her sister to prevent drama (what a good big sis). Maybe they do grow out of it, but so far I haven't seen it happen.

:sad2: Never outgrew it at our house and they are now 35 and 38. The younger still counts everything and of course we "do more for her sister." Um, not!

And an attorney! The more I think about this, as a patient advocate!!!, the more upset I get. Sending you out without having the nurse dress (wrap) the legs because he was upset with you (which should NOT have happened) because you were in terrible pain is just plain negligent.

Tomorrow morning at 10am me and my brother go to the lawyer's office to read the Will and start the probate process....it's time to get it done.:upsidedow :guilty: :upsidedow

I'll let you know how it turns out...I need to do a little research, but I will report him in as many ways as possible. I also have to look into getting a different doctor with my insurance....just what I need right now, more things on my to do list!

:headache: :guilty: :headache:

If seeing someone else is an insurance issue then report him to them also. Tell them what he did and insist that they approve you seeing someone else.

DITTO!!!! Would be so hard for me not to go down there and open a king size can of WOOP ***! if this jerk did this to my wife!!!!:furious:

Funny story....
Last night we were out to dinner and Jaide was complaining about her tooth being so loose. Scott tried to pull it out and couldn't so he told her he would do it at home later. Taylor decided she would do it (remember she pulled out her own tooth a bit ago) and marched over to Jaide and pulled out the tooth! :lmao: I almost fell out of my chair laughing...Taylor was just so proud. And then, the worst thing happened........................

the tooth fairy forgot to come last night. I thought Jaide was going to cry this am when she realized it. I told her due to the move, she must have gotten lost and I am sure she will be there tonight :scared1: I really need to have a talk with that tooth fairy!!!! I bet she feels absolutely horrible (and almost cried as well when Jaide realized!!!!!). And I bet Jaide is getting a bit bonus of a tooth fairy gift tonight :thumbsup2

Oh, that tooth fairy - she has known to be negligent here too!! And the excuses she comes up with are a bit weak too!!:rotfl:

I am a family physician...but I practice Naturopathic Medicine. Here in WA, we are licensed as primary care docs...the difference between us and the traditional medical docs are treatments. I use homeopathics, herbs, nutrition, counseling, etc rather than traditional prescription meds. My practice is primarily women and children, dealing a lot with allergies, ADD/ADHD, hormonal issues, digestive probs and the typical colds and flus. I am also trained to be a midwife, but after doing 15 or so births, I decided it wasn't for me so I stopped my certification.

You will be holding surgeries on the cruise!!!:lmao:

I am lurking here and reading but been busy working on the Lake house. Will try to make more time to post. I am feeling fine but still not 100%.

Sorry you're still not feeling good. At least when the op is over you can look forward to better times.

I miss my Angel puppy...I want her back if she's going to behave...if not, I will have to find her another home...DD does not want to keep her, says she is too much work.
:scared1: :confused3 :hippie:

Angel is still a puppy isn't she, so will be a lot of work and needs the attention too.

Deb, you're awake early!

Had toast and marmalade for breakfast, and just had a mid morning apple.

How are things with you this morning?
