Frustrating and depressing day.

Have a case that I have been working with for a little while. Thought we were making great strides. Obviously can't go into details, but had a major setback today. It makes me so sad . . . . . . . . maybe I get too emotionally involved.

Also found out this afternoon that I have to fly to San Antonio on Tuesday to testify. Forensic Psychology is the fun part of my profession. The above is the worst part.
I'm so sorry. :sad2: I'm sure it's almost impossible to prevent getting emotionally involved.

Well it is 10 years since Princess Diana died.

Just watching some of the memorial service on TV that her sons wanted to organise so they could remember her in their way and not the way of the funeral service. Harry just said a lovely tribute.:sad1:

We woke up on that morning, 10 years ago, a Sunday, switched on the radio and it was in the middle of a report - I thought the Queen Mother must have died, but soon it came clear.:sad2:

So, it is 10 years since we came to the west coast. We were helping at a wedding reception for friends on the day of the funeral - they held a minute's silence before the bride entered the church and then proceeded.

3 days later we set off for our 3 week amazing holiday. We flew down to London for our flight to LA, and when we flew over London about to land, you could see the carpet of flowers left by the public.

Marilyn,

Just as I was reading this they showed it on the news! They just showed a breif part of Harry's tribute.

I remember coming home from something late at night and it was on the news. I couldn't believe it and I watched the reports all night long! She and I were the same age and I just couldn't imagine her dying so young and leaving her two boys.

I was up here in Bodega for her service. One of the gals that I was up here with, (for a scrapbooking retreat) and I stayed up into the wee hours to watch the funeral live. We had a kleenex box next to us to share for the service.:sad1:

It is still very hot at home, but it is lovely here in Bodega Bay! It's been foggy all day and nice and cool!!:thumbsup2

I have done basically nothing all day!! First time in FOREVER!!:cool2:

Hope you have had a lovely day!

Karen

I am back in Reno. My gall bladder acted up a little bit last night so I didn't sleep well but I am feeling better now. John and Samantha come in tonight. We are going to see "America" (Horse with no name fame) on Saturday, drive to the lake and then back to Reno on Tuesday morning.

Oh my gosh, Noel! I remember seeing "America" at the Concord Pavilion (now Sleep Train Pavilion) when I was in High School! (Many Moons Ago...)

The were one of my favorite bands!!

Have fun, hope you sleep better tonight!

Karen

Just opened up some mail that I had picked up at home before coming up here to Bodega Bay and found an Aniversary card for DH and I!:woohoo:

I had totally forgotten (life has just been TOO INTENSE:confused3 ) that our anniversary is this coming Tuesday, September 4th!!

Maybe we'll celebrate with a dinner or lunch somewhere up here this weekend!

Well, I have seen all of this nonesense and been ignoring you girls. No roping me into that - nope. My legs are too hairy, and I have a better mustache than my Greek Aunt (although it is not as wiry). Tell you what, I can be Tony Orlando, and the rest of you boys can be Dawn.

Wait a minute here! Hows anyone gonna see your legs?:scared1: I never said nuttin' bout no skirt! This:bride: is even pushin' it! But no worries John, seems the ladies are skeered of a little bit of takillya!:drinking:

Thank you to everyone for all of the birthday wishes :grouphug:

I spent a lovely day yesterday driving to a few little nearby towns and shopping in lots of little giftshops and having a yummy lunch at a little inn with my friend who was also celebrating her birthday. Today (the 31st) is my actual birthday and I just got home from dinner out with my family. I'm stuffed! Lots of crab legs and salmon and shrimp and sushi ....I walked for 2 hrs this afternoon but I need to walk some more , I ate way more calories than I burned off!

I'm going to hurry up and post this, for some reason I keep losing my internet server connection:confused: I don't usually have any problems, guess I'll have to call them tomorrow if this keeps up.

Sorry you had a bad night Noel, but glad you're feeling better. Sounds like you have a fun weekend planned.

That would be so hard, sorry you had such a sad day. Hope you have a nice weekend and manage to get your mind off of the case for a few days:hug:

Happy Anniversary:flower3: You should definately go out and celebrate, you both deserve a night out after all you've been through lately.

Quiet today!:rolleyes1

Yes, 10 yrs ago I was celebrating my 40th birthday and heard the news:sad1: I knew then that I would always associate my birthday with the remembrance of Diana's death:sad2:

Funny that you thought it was a quiet day, I was just thinking, after being away from the boards for 2 days, that you guys were being way too chatty, I can't keep up!

I can't even begin to imagine how difficult it must be to not become so involved. It must be a very difficul profession to practice.

Thanks Holly, I did. I hope yours was fun too? I never did have that drink for you yesterday, but at the moment I'm sipping on a glass of Rosa Regale, so here's a toast to your birthday:drinking1

Oh man....I've got a bottle of Rose Ragale in the cabinet. I'd join you in a birthday toast, but then I'd have to drink the whole bottle by myself, and I don't think I want to do that. Guess I'd better find someone to share it with this weekend! Guess I'd better find some chocolate covered strawberries to go with it too, eh?

Hmmmmm, hey KAREN, how long will an open bottle 'keep'? I know the first time I tasted it, it was a 'second day' bottle. Maybe I WON'T have to share it!

Boy, we both really like that stuff, and no strawberries necessary!

Thanks! :goodvibes Actually, my day yesterday wasn't so great. After work, I went to Tyler's Kindergarten orientation, which his dad was supposed to bring him to as well because he was at his dad's. His dad never showed up with him. I'm too upset to talk much about it, but I what I was feeling most was sad for Tyler because he missed out on a really fun experience. And I'm furious with his dad for not caring about how excited Tyler is about starting Kindergarten. I haven't even been able to ask him about what happened because I'm afraid I won't be able to speak calmly about it. So I brought home the activities the kids got to do at orientation, and will tell Tyler he has his first homework assignment and we'll make it a fun project together. I don't even want him to know that he missed out on anything because I just couldn't handle seeing his disappointment from his dad letting him down once again. Fortunately, his teacher is wonderful and is letting him have his own personal tour of the classroom Tuesday morning, before his first afternoon of kindergarten. :sad2:

After that disaster, I didn't end up going to the comedy club with Cindy after all. I was too tired to want to stay up that late (the show wasn't to start until 8pm), so Cindy bought me a drink at a local bar. It was an early night.

I'm having a couple birthday toasts myself! After bingo I decided to "clean out" my fridge. So the 4 beers in there must go! Down the hatch they go! :rotfl:

OH NO!!!! I just saw the news listing the winning numbers for the Michigan Mega Millions lotto. I forgot to buy a ticket! There goes my $330million! :rotfl2:

Thank you to those that passed on birthday wishes for me.

Had a great day. My daughter's simply made me feel wonderful. Shawn managed to add to my closet some. I will admit - I love clothes! The sad part is after opening my gifts, I fully realize that Shawn has more fashion sense than I do. He bought me a beautiful Sue Wong dress with a pair of Charles David shoes. I guess he does work in retail, but who would have thought . . . truly was floored. After almost 18 years, he still is able to surprise me.

After we had cake, our youngest Kayla, looks up at me and says, "Too bad you couldn't have as good a party as me"! She turns five on September 10th and has had the same birthday party the last two years. We are headed to the same destination for the the third year. http://www.partypop.com/Vendors/4075886.htm
I thought it was funny.

Anyway, best wishes to all.

Happy Belated Birthday:flower3: Sorry, I missed that it was your birthday this week too. I'm glad you had a great day, loved Kayla's comment, too cute!
Kid's do say the funniest. My friend's little girl (she's 5 ) was over the other day and we were all looking at a picture of my daughter in her wedding gown outside the church on her wedding day, and she said she really liked that picture. Her mom said, yes isn't she beautiful, and her daughter answered "I like the grass, it's really green and long" :lmao: :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Oh Holly, I'm so sorry:hug: I can just imagine how you must have felt:sad2: It must be so frustrating for you.Good for you though to think about Tyler first, and to bring home the "homework" for him and arrange another meet. I hope all goes well for you both on Tuesday. You will be in my thoughts.
