I feel really sad about doing it. He told me, "It's OK mom because I still have my stuffed animals." Then in a bit of a snotty voice told me, "I can just play with them since my toys are gone." So I had to take all of those away too! That devastated him and he just cried and begged. It was really hard because he also sleeps with tons of animals too. I almost cried because he looked so pathetic and small when I left him in his empty bed with nothing but his one bear that goes everywhere. I could never take him away because that's his comfort. Just hearbreaking to have to do this, but I really hope he remembers this. :sad2: When we were reading his bedtime book in bed, he kept reaching for other animals to cuddle with, but there were none. He finally said, "I don't like this anymore. Can't I just have all my stuff back tomorrow?" I had to remind him, "No, if you have good behavior all day tomorrow, you get to pick ONE item to get back." He told me, "But if I only have one toy, I'll still be bored." Yup...better work hard every day to behave and more will come. I'm wondering if he'll choose a toy or an animal tomorrow. I'm sort of thinking I should let him pick one toy and one animal because the animals are really just his comfort for sleeping...he doesn't actually play with them.

We had to go to Walmart tonight and when we got home, our living room and his bedroom looked so pathetic. Looks like kiddy jail. I feel like the meanest mom in the world. :sad1:

Holly,

I'm sure you know that you are NOT the meanest mom in the world. As we all have noticed and mentioned, you are one of the BEST moms in the world.

It is SO important to follow through with what we say that we will do when we tell a child that their actions will suffer consequences. It's the parents that don't follow through that develop children that do not have bounderies and are "out of control". These children are constantly pushing the envelope to see how far they can go and are usually the children that people don't want to be around.

You are doing a great job! Don't ever be too hard on yourself. He will learn from this and he will respect you and your WORD because you followed through on this with him.

Just my thoughts, as Noel would say! (Love her thoughts, by the way!)

Karen

Well Finally....a confirmation....We're out of here tomorrow....We're going home tomorrow....anytime after 11:00am the doctor signs you out, then case management sets up your aftercare, then they let you out of jail and back to your life. YEAHHHHHHHHH....I couldn't be happier. I will lock up the puppy and not let her near me.

I'll have to do wound care three times a week to change dressings and continue antibiotics orally. I can do that. Then I get to be back at home with my sweetie, my Tivo, my DISers, my Ella and Angel, my to do list, which has been put on hold and I can now get back to.....it'll be nice to be surrounded by all my favorite things.
:woohoo: :cheer2: :woohoo:

Deb,

Will add my 2 cents and say how VERY HAPPY I am that you will be going home.

Take care of YOU!! It's easy to forget to take care of yourself once you are home.

XO,

Karen

Marilyn, I would love to see you and John, if you're going to be there when we are....Turkey Day Nov 22, Fri Nov 23, Sat Nov 24 and Sun Nov 25.

When will you be there??? We're already trying to do a meet and greet with V and family on Turkey Day and a champagne toast with Karen and Ted and Alex on the 25th maybe. Where will you be staying? We could do the Karen and Marilyn meet on Sunday the 25th. Let me know if you'll be there then. I would LOVE to give you a big hug!

Ah now, we are going to miss you! We arrive on the 25th - probably and hopefully around 5pm at WDW. So, we are just going to miss you. Never mind - there is always next May 10th!!

Deb, here's a different perspective. This is from our cruise in Sept. '05. It cracks me up because it looks like she's thinking, "Help! Get him off of me!" :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Too cute!!

Spending my night reading all you guys chatting.

Holly, I am sorry for Tyler, but you have to be strong. Someday, you both will look back and laugh...that is where I am now with my kids.

Deb, I am so sorry you have been so sick. I am glad you are on the mend. Please take care and get well. I want to see you at the beach this fall.

I have been so busy with my mom. She has moved in with me....remember all the talks we had about our moms. I keep thinking about our different situations....two strong headed mom's, but I still have my mom. Stay strong, all will be better.

As far as Vanessa goes, she made it Sunday morning at 8am to Reagan instead of Dulles. She is beautiful and sweet. We have already fallen in love with her and are glad to welcome her into our family!!

Daniel is doing well at Tech......my life is just crazy. Sorry for the drive by posting.....I will try and stay up,
Lisa

Nice to hear from you Lisa, and glad all is well with Vanessa. Great to hear that Daniel is doing well too. It is such a big change for them.

You know, I bet these are kind of like cooked pinto beans, or refried beans. Have you ever had them? Even though I made fun of them, I bet they aren't bad!

Come to think of it, the black peas we used to have are very similar yes.

Good morning Marilyn!

Hope it is a lovely day in your world!

It will be close to 100 here tomorrow (today)! EWWWWW!!

Karen

100 deg Karen - you won't like that will you? Neither would I if it was humid.

Our temps are plummeting now as Autumn approaches. Schools are back next week and then I begin thinking about Christmas.

Good Morning! Missed the eclipse!

Hey John (and everybody),
Just bought my tickets to see Wicked in LA on Oct. 9th! My sis and I are going. I'm so excited! I've been listening to the music ever since I downloaded it...

We're going to stay 2 nights at the Magic Castle in Hollywood. That should be a hoot. I remember my parents going there when I was a kid. So the plan is we'll do dinner and show at Magic Castle on Mon., Wicked on Tues., Wed--Fri. at DL to see the Halloween decor, etc. and come home Sat.

Wheeeee....:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

You will LOVE it Cherie!

I think you posted once that you were a diver . . . I am reading (actually listening to the audio book on my iPod, but what the dif) a fascinating book - I got a recommendation to get it from Audible, it is called "Shadow Divers". I bet you would like it. (BTW - I am NOT a diver!)

I too am looking forward to the next visit with the mouse in November! We scored the "Roy" for our November 10th cruise! WooHoo!

Karen

This is the cruise I would have chosen for this year...if I hadn't made the financial commitment to the PC instead (and then ending up squeezing in a three day this year). Looking forward to doing an 'Eastern' sometime in the future...perhaps my birthday in 2009 :confused3

Holly- Oh, I almost cried reading about Tyler and his toys! That must have been hard for both of you. He needs to learn about consequences though- and he won’t forget this for sure.

Lisa- I’m glad your exchange student made it there safely at last! How long does she get to stay with you?

Cheri- We loved Wicked! We went to see it on Broadway twice, because we loved it so much. I’ve been caught singing along to the soundtrack in my car too.
Wow on getting all those alumni!

Karen- I’m so jealous of your getting the Roy suite in November! You’ll have a great time!

Oh man...just went to DCL site and my favorite location (deck 7 aft) is still available for this cruise. A mere $1700 for a solo cat 11.....better run off and grab some more lottery tickets!

Thanks Karen! Your thoughts really help. :goodvibes I'm having such a hard time with this. Just hope and pray he has a good day and gets to start earning his things back today. I'm sure he'll never forget this, but I hope it works for him.

:sad1: I'm glad I'm not the only one. It's sad, but I hope it will work.

I should take pictures of his empty room and the empty places in the living room where his toys used to be and keep those to remind him how awful it looked.

I'm so very happy for you! Do they have a website? How long is it playing there??? Hmmmm I have an idea:rolleyes:

Noel - sorry to hear about your car troubles. Hopefully it is nothing too serious.

Thanks for the post. Luckily, not too bad. Need to replace the fuel pump. I was flying home last night from Reno but was delayed due to President Bush's arrival at Reno airport. Bush is speaking at the American Legion convention in Reno so our incoming flight was diverted to Sacramento for refueling. We had to wait an extra hour and a half in the terminal.

I decided to pay the slots while I was waiting and won enough to pay for the repair.

I am home now until Thursday for Doctor appointments etc.

Wow! Great luck with the slots! That sure worked out well. :thumbsup2

Oh my gosh! What a nightmare! I hope your car will be ready for you when you need it.

Car will be ready on Thursday when I fly back. I feel very fortunate to have been in an area that I could pull over, make a cell phone call and have the AAA come quickly. The car is 7 years old and I expect things may go wrong from time to time.

Noel,

What year and model Sub is it? We had 3 and had issues with the first one with a "fuel lifter".

Best of luck!

Karen

2000 Chevy 2500 Suburban. Well, it does have 133,000 miles so I can't complain. One thing I learned from my father is buy a car new and drive it to "death". Both DH and I had our last cars last 14 years before we bought the Suburbans.

It sure did!! Several of us were so bored we decided to hit the slot machines while another person was buying us Quizno sandwiches. I hit two triple diamonds and a 7 for a total of $1800.

One of the funniest things about President Bush landing on the runway is all of us were running around from window to window trying to take pictures of Air Force One with our cell phones. Needless to say, my picture did not turn out well.
