I'm not a doctor but this could be food related... my girlfriend had a very similar problem with her daughter... she changed her diet and it's like having a totally different child!

Yeah, others have mentioned food allergies too, and I am definitely keeping that in mind. But I do want to see if switching to the more consistent environment in kindergarten makes a difference first. We did some major talking tonight (me and Tyler) and he had a lot to say about all the changes going on (or have recently occurred) at daycare and exactly how he's bothered by certain things there. He flat out told me he's not happy there and gave me details on things he doesn't like that have changed. I told him the good news is that he only has 4 more days there and asked him to just try to hang in there that short time because then he'll never have to go back. I told him there are lots of things in life that we don't like sometimes, lots of changes happen in life that we don't like, but we often just have to deal with it until we can move on or work on a solution to get out of whatever that situation is. He told me, "OK mom....I'll try really hard".

Oh...his dad is putting the blame on Tyler's buddy Hunter (the one Tyler bit). He also says he's SO GLAD they won't be in the same kindergarten class and that because of that reason alone, we'll see a drastic change in Tyler's behavior. Well, you can't put the blame on somebody else for Tyler misbehaving. He's responsible for his own actions. We hang out with Hunter's family very often outside of day care and the kids behave perfectly all the time.

ok, the cooler and goodies are in the car. The girls are pretty much packed and we're taking costumes too! oy!
Have an awesome time! We'll all be waiting for those pics we know you'll have for us when you return! :goodvibes :thumbsup2

So sorry to hear how this all started.

I know very little about dogs, but Oprah had her dog trainer on a couple weeks ago and that lady has a book THE LOVED DOG or something like that. She said that to get a dog to stop jumping on you, you have to turn your back because what they want is your face and your love. So, you turn your back and they don't get it. You say SIT and then turn around when they are sitting and give them attention. If they jump, you turn your back again. .....well..... it worked for Oprah.
Jan :earsgirl:

I have her book, and have read it. I need to go back to trying this, because one thing our dog does is jump on everyone. The author was in the Isreali secret service and trianed dogs for them. That part of the story was very interesting too.

Caught up and Bedtime.

Oh, BTW, the neighbor boy that Sophia was worried about being in her class that does gross stuff . . . went to meet the teacher tonight, and not only is he in her class, but he sits across from her, with his desk facing her!:scared1:

Night guys.

Hey John (and everybody),
Just bought my tickets to see Wicked in LA on Oct. 9th! My sis and I are going. I'm so excited! I've been listening to the music ever since I downloaded it...

We're going to stay 2 nights at the Magic Castle in Hollywood. That should be a hoot. I remember my parents going there when I was a kid. So the plan is we'll do dinner and show at Magic Castle on Mon., Wicked on Tues., Wed--Fri. at DL to see the Halloween decor, etc. and come home Sat.

Wheeeee....:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Leslie: CONGRATS on your award! That's a big deal! Well done! And happy early birthday! I'll be 37 the day after your 38th. :goodvibes From one virgo to another, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! ;)

I am a Virgo....I turn 50 next Tuesday Sept 4th!!!

Holly- I’m sorry you had to take away Tyler’s toys!
I feel really sad about doing it. He told me, "It's OK mom because I still have my stuffed animals." Then in a bit of a snotty voice told me, "I can just play with them since my toys are gone." So I had to take all of those away too! That devastated him and he just cried and begged. It was really hard because he also sleeps with tons of animals too. I almost cried because he looked so pathetic and small when I left him in his empty bed with nothing but his one bear that goes everywhere. I could never take him away because that's his comfort. Just hearbreaking to have to do this, but I really hope he remembers this. :sad2: When we were reading his bedtime book in bed, he kept reaching for other animals to cuddle with, but there were none. He finally said, "I don't like this anymore. Can't I just have all my stuff back tomorrow?" I had to remind him, "No, if you have good behavior all day tomorrow, you get to pick ONE item to get back." He told me, "But if I only have one toy, I'll still be bored." Yup...better work hard every day to behave and more will come. I'm wondering if he'll choose a toy or an animal tomorrow. I'm sort of thinking I should let him pick one toy and one animal because the animals are really just his comfort for sleeping...he doesn't actually play with them.

We had to go to Walmart tonight and when we got home, our living room and his bedroom looked so pathetic. Looks like kiddy jail. I feel like the meanest mom in the world. :sad1:

Oh no! Poor Sophia! Well, it might be a good character-building experience for her. :confused3

I'm so jealous! I absolutely loved Wicked here in Lansing! In fact, when the tickets went on sale for when it comes back next year, I was trying to scrape up money to buy them already, but that has to wait until probably October, if they still have tickets at that point. Awesome show!

This is my official;

Spending my night reading all you guys chatting.

Holly, I am sorry for Tyler, but you have to be strong. Someday, you both will look back and laugh...that is where I am now with my kids.

Deb, I am so sorry you have been so sick. I am glad you are on the mend. Please take care and get well. I want to see you at the beach this fall.

I have been so busy with my mom. She has moved in with me....remember all the talks we had about our moms. I keep thinking about our different situations....two strong headed mom's, but I still have my mom. Stay strong, all will be better.

As far as Vanessa goes, she made it Sunday morning at 8am to Reagan instead of Dulles. She is beautiful and sweet. We have already fallen in love with her and are glad to welcome her into our family!!

Daniel is doing well at Tech......my life is just crazy. Sorry for the drive by posting.....I will try and stay up,
Lisa

Cheri - Mushy peas. I found this recipe of the traditional way of making them. I think Marrowfat peas are a variety of peas, but they could just be dried large old peas - not sure, but they are dried.

"My old Mum bought dried peas (marrowfats if she could get them), half filled a basin with them, and put a teaspoon of baking soda in and boiling water to the brim. She left them over night to steep, washed them thoroughly to get rid of the baking soda and then put them in a pan with just a covering of water, a knob of butter and a teaspoon of sugar. She brought this to the boil and then simmered it until the peas started to break down, stirring from time to time to stop them sticking to the pan bottom. Result - a veritable moutwatering side dish to go with fish and chips or owt else. Since we cannot get marrowfats here, I buy the local "blue" dried peas and get excellent results. So there we are lasses, the ways and means to produce Mushy Peas"

Nowadays people don't bother making them, they just get tins of readymade.

This is what they look like!!! On the whole young people do NOT like them.:rotfl:

You know, I bet these are kind of like cooked pinto beans, or refried beans. Have you ever had them? Even though I made fun of them, I bet they aren't bad!

Hi Jan, Hi Karen, Hi Marilyn, Hi V.....yes, I'm back posting....still in the hospital though....but feeling much better and posting again.

They said I could go home either tomorrow or Wednesday....I hope it's tomorrow.

I'm actually starting to feel like a real person again. Now I want to go on a trip....I was reading about V going to Mickey's World and I thought....gee, it might be nice to just get away from it all after this experience...Mickey's sounds good, I would like to go there.

But Alas, I do have to wait another 2 months....then I do cruise and world and I cannot wait until the day we leave coz I need it bad.

Cheri, How is the reunion coming along?

Hi Deb,
It's so nice to see you on the boards and "hear" you sounding like your old chipper self!:thumbsup2

The reunion is coming along really well! There are over 50 alumni coming (out of a class of 130, with 20 passed away that we know of)--a lot more than I thought would be there. We'll have enough money to pay for everything and even reimburse people who have fronted money (like me, I'm in charge of centerpieces. I'm also making a DVD to show at the dinner). Several of my old friends are coming and I'm very excited to see everyone. The only downside of the whole thing is that it almost certainly will be HOT HOT HOT--central AZ in mid September is pretty miserable.:headache: But I'll survive!

OK, what else is going on in everybody else's lives??????

Karen, Did you get that computer up and running yet?

Deb,

You sound like your ol' self again! So glad!

Yes our system is back up and running at the moment. We are still having some technical difficulties and DH is at the shop right now (10:30 pm Pacific Time) trying to fix them!

I too am looking forward to the next visit with the mouse in November! We scored the "Roy" for our November 10th cruise! WooHoo!!

Continue getting better...

Karen

My latest adventure happened yesterday when I was driving home from Lake Almanor. About 1 hour into the drive, my Suburban decided to stop running. Luckily I was heading toward Reno and not the Chico way as the Chico was has NO CELL service.

I called AAA and one hour later he had my Suburban on the Flatbed truck for the 75 miles trip to Reno. We dropped the Suburban at the Chevy dealer and I got a room at the Atlantis.

Needless to say, dealer is so busy this week and they can't look at the car til Tuesday so I am flying home tonight. I have doctors appointments on Tuesday and Wednesday so must get home.

Hopefully, the car will be ready by Thursday when we fly in for the Labor Day weekend.

DH thinks it may be the fuel pump but we shall see. Got to dash to make my flight. I will check in later.

Noel

Noel,

What year and model Sub is it? We had 3 and had issues with the first one with a "fuel lifter".

Best of luck!

Karen

So excited for you Cherie!

DD and I LOVED Wicked. We saw the premiere of it here in San Francisco with the original cast and it was just THE BEST EVER! I've seen tons of shows in my time and this one is really special. We sat next to Kristen Chenoweth after the show at Max's Cafe!

Enjoy counting down the days...

Of course, knowing you, you have many fun things planeed before then anyway!

Karen
