Holly,

Scary tornado stuff, but unfortunately, that is what we live with in the Midwest. We have had bad stuff close to us before too, and it can be devastating.

We had our first game in our new Football stadium tonight, and we WON! 26-10. New coach, new stadium, but hot as a sauna all night tonight! Amy was NOT happy I dragged her along and made her come with me.

Hi John! Congrtulations on the win!:cheer2:

Just down the road is the original Harry Ramsden's where I used to go on special occasions as a child - 45 or more years agol. They were still the best until the worldwide company took over.

Have you tried the Harry's at Manchester Airport? It's not like the proper ones but for airport food it isn't bad. We generally eat there when we're staying overnight before a flight.

We despair of finding a decent chippy here in Wolverhampton. Lots of them do these bright orange coated chips which are very strange. Seems to be a local thing, not sure why. We've lived in various places around the UK but have never come across these weird chips before.

Best chippy we've ever known is in Braunton, North Devon - as well as takeaway it had a lovely sit-in restaurant.

Monica,

Thanks for the good wishes! I haven't forgotten your requests and will do some research now that our systems are back up and running!

Argentina! That sounds so cool! Try some wines and tell me your favorites when you get back!

Karen

Karen,

No rush on the request...we do have a little time left :lmao:

I like Malbec! I was happy that the Wonder had the Norton Malbec on board in December.

I'll let you know if any more make it on my list.

My mom and I used to watch that years ago. Loved it.

Thanks, John. I thing Deception Point was my favorite of all four books ::yes:: Wish they'd make a movie of that one!

I had fish and chips for dinner! There' a fish & chips place right by my house now...they guy who owns it English and it was very good. I had haddock and it was moist and yummmy and the batter was great. The 'chips' were OK....a little 'fat' for me (I like skinny, crunchy fries). Will go back and try his chicken strips some time too and the Shepheard's Pie. I've always been leary of Bangers & Mash as I don't know what kind of (texture) sausage it is (hate mushy sausages).

.....hitting the hay for tonight.

REMEMBER...next several of us are on line at the same time we CAN go to the DISboards chat room and talk in real time :thumbsup2

Mmmmm All of the Fish & Chips talk is making me hungry. It's hard to find good fish & chips in Oregon. And what amazes me is that there is soo much good seafood here. I miss the old 'London Tower' and 'H. Salt' fish and chips places we used to go to. A lot of the places here (at least the ones we have been to, just finally started carrying the malt vinegar).

I could probably be deported for this, but my favourite fish in batter is at the Columbia Harbor House in Magic Kingdom. Although I would prefer chunky chips with it rather than fries.

 The best batter has beer in it!! And really the fish and chips should be cooked in lard! I don't think any chip shop does that now though fortunately for our arteries.:rotfl:

No, haven't tried Harry's at Man Airport. I am usually still trying to get those last few lbs off right up to getting on the plane!! Then it is all systems go!!:rotfl2:

We have just had a lovely tea, just as I predicted, but finished with mango cheesecake with fresh summer fruits and ice cream.:cloud9:

John once asked for burger and chips at the restaurant at the Canyon de Chelle in Arizona and was delivered a burger with a packet of crisps on top! We don't make that mistake now!

All this talk about Fish & Chips is making me crave some! I may have to either go to Epcot or the new place next to Raglan Road at Dtwn Disney!

Username--Mishoe was a nickname I got in my 7th grade Spanish class (given to me by the guy I had a crush on) and it stuck.

ok break time....two more loads done and I cleaned out three of my dresser drawers and filled two garbage bags of clothes. It's kind of nice to get rid of stuff...I've always wanted a model bare home but we are all pack rats so that isn't going to happen.

At least with hurricanes you know in advance that it's coming and can get out of your home or board up or whatever needs to be done. With tornados, you just don't know. One home was destroyed a few seconds before the sirens started. :sad2: Weather folks try their best to predict, but it just doesn't always work. However, I think earthquakes would be worse because there would be no warning at all! But I suppose buildings in areas known for earthquakes are built to withstand such an event.

I guess it's just all in where you live. I have been through many a roller and shaker, and was lucky not ot be too close to the epicenter. We did have a quake here in Oregon that was a 5.3, centered about 8 to 12 miles from us. What's so funny is that ANgie and I were in bed, and I rolled over and said, "That was about a 5.3." :lmao: I was right. And we didn't even get up. We had experienced the Sylmar quake in Calif, and a few others over 6 and 7. During the Sylmar quake we were bouncing in the bed and ANgie didn't wake up.:rotfl: :rotfl: I think I rolled over in mid air. I just remember the terrible roar of windows shaking coming towards us and then our bedroom windows shaking til I thought they were going to break. They didn't, thank goodness. We were about 80 miles from that one, which shows how violent they are.

Rock n Roll

And now we live near two active volcanoes. LOL.

Sounds way too scary for me!

Compromised with myself and mowed only the front yard. :lmao: So my neighbors out front will be happy, but my neighbors behind me will cringe whenever they're in their back yard and see mine. :rotfl2: Just kidding....it's not that bad. The back is mostly shaded, so I only have to mow it every other time, which is very nice!

Off to bathe and head out for my McAlisters gigantic baked potato! My favorite is called Spud Max. It's covered with ham, turkey, bacon, cheddar, swiss, green onions, black olives, and I always have them add jalepenos. YUMMY!!!! Not good for my weight loss efforts, but too good to pass up! Especially since I'd hate to let my $5 coupon go to waste. ;)

The Princess Diaries 2 is on for the girls and I am watching/listening as I am cleaning and I really like it, but then I am a sucky for cheesy Disney movies.

V, you remind me of us. :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: I like you guys!:rotfl:

We sent away two full dumpsters a few weeks ago. LOL. We had to throw away some perfectly good exercise equipment. A Total Gym 2000, a Body by Jake, and treadmill, and two weight benches with weights. We couldn't give them away. I got a lot of exercise just moving them around. :lmao: We still have a lot to go. :sad2:

Nap...clean barn....Nap.....clean barn.... Nap gets it every time.

Vanessa has landed in JFK. JFK is only a few hours up the road, but the flight they gave her had her lay over for 7 hours! She does not get to Dulles till 9pm tonight.

DC is hot. I think I heard the heat index is 110 degrees I have been inside all day getting ready for her to come.

Lisa

Good luck Lisa!

Holly that tater sounds yum-o!

Dr Hug!! So glad to see you posting! Hope you and Ang are doing ok!

Well, I better let MrsMork have a turn at it. I am too lazy to get out the laptop right now. Too much to do....as in Nap. :lmao:
