I'm so glad he's doing well at school...that is a big deal:thumbsup2
I really think he's the type of kid who needs structure and enough stuff to keep his mind busy all day, and that's exactly what he gets at school. The first day, when I went to pick him up after school, my dad was with me, and when the teacher came out walking all the kids in single file, Tyler saw us and yelled "Grandpa!" and took 2 steps out of the line and his teacher called his name, he turned around to her, she said nothing but just pointed back to the line and he immediately jumped right back into line. She asked, "Tyler, what are you supposed to do?" He said, "But my mom's here". She waited a second and then asked, "Tyler is your adult here?" He said, "Yes Miss Gimm." She asked, "What are you supposed to do?" He walked up to her and said, "Miss Gimm, my mom is here. May I leave?" She told him yes, he told her goodbye (she makes the kids make eye contact with her to say goodbye) and she marked him off her list and told him she'd see him in the morning. I was amazed! Her sister (my friend of about 3 years) told me she runs a tight ship and that's sure the truth! :thumbsup2

No date picked yet V - will be waiting to see the itineraries. We are thinking early January. Want to make sure that most of our friends can make whatever date we pick, and now we will probably have some great friends from this thread too.

And YES, Amy said you are ONLY allowed to book cruises with your friends!

Thanks Heavens!!!

YEAHHHHHHHHHHHH for Tyler!!! He gets more toys back too! Maybe he just needed to get out of that place and get stimulated by learning new things. Maybe there were even kids that picked on him and he stood up for himself. Whatever it was, I'm so glad it's over and he's back to his usual sweet and adorable little man self.:wizard: :wizard: :wizard:
Oh, he's earning his toys back SO quickly and he's really proud of himself too! Since his last day of day care, he's been perfectly behaved every single day.

OK, we are not even two weeks into school and already Sophia has brought home THREE fundraisers to sell!

Who else HATES school fundraisers????

Amy and I would rather write a check directly to the school (yes, I know some parents cannot do that) - plus they get the kids all pumped up with promises of prizes and parties that you are stuck.

Most of this comes from the PTO that keeps pushing the fundraisers because our schools cannot afford the extras for the kids and the teachers (all worthy - just hate using the kids).

I would just love to be wealthy and say to our school, this year, there will be no fundriasers, I would donate all the money they wanted to make so that no kids or their parents had to be salespeople, shilling cookie dough, entertainment books, discount cards, and expensive wrapping paper.

OK - school board member now off the soapbox on school fundraisers!

I hate them to and I am the PTA pres. We are doing a "corn Maze" day. If you go through the corn maze on a particular day, we get 1/2 the proceeds. I hope it works. Then no cookie dough, or wrapping paper. If we don't make enough we might have to sell those smencils....

I can't imagine ever going on another Mickey cruise without all of you...it would be such a letdown!:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

The PTO does great things for the school, it truly benefits all kids, but I think sometimes they get carried away. There are lots of things our kids would never have if not for these dedicated people.

I just have always HATED selling.

I am not a salesman, and many times we buy the stuff ourselves to avoid the hassle. It just makes me crazy that I could write a check for the same amount to the PTO, and they would get ALL the money.

Oh well . . .

We are going to an out of town football game tomorrow night - travelling with the team, and eating at a great pizza shop in that town about 45 minutes away (Kim, we are going to play Wooster!). Should be a fun night - as long as we win!

Look for Kyle Dragnich. He broke his fingers in practice, but I think he was still going to play.

ME TOOOOOO!!!!! Does that mean you're going to try to get on the Jan 09 cruise with the rest of these guys?:hippie: :hippie: :hippie:
Probably not because that June I'm hoping to take Tyler to Australia for 9 days with Heather & her family. Unless my finances change by then and I'm somehow able to afford both! Remember, I only work part time because of school, so one vacation a year is really pushing it for us. BUT I just might be done with law school by then, and if so, I'd be working full-time and making tons more money! Hmmmmm......only time will tell!

Yeah, wait until Amy (and Kim) see this. It will be John, John, and Steve at the Mickey pool, while the girls play on the ship, or lay somewhere with cucumbers on their eyes.

That's OK though Vanessa, I know my place.

I LOVE the spa!!! I LOVE THE SPA!!!!!

Here is a pretty good picture of Vanessa.

We've all got to try to do Jan 09 next cruise. I would miss my DISing with you all every day and I would miss you onboard after doing a long one together in May.:dance3:  :dance3:

I agree! But if we all already think that now, what's going to happen after we all meet? :yay: I imagine we'll all be e-mailing each other and calling regularly. AND doing little mini-meets all over the country!

Can't believe it - we are in Ann Arbor!!!! Have been planning this trip since the game was scheduled over 5 years ago. Michigan is one of the states we had never been to. It is a little cooler than Arizona. Glad we brought jackets!

If anyone can muster up the help, we can really use anyone's support tomorrow. Have a bad feeling that we could come up on the losing end. Look for us in the stands, we will be decked out in our green and yellow Duck gear (yes we know our uniforms have become a joke across the country). Rumor has it we will be breaking out another new uniform combination tomorrow. Look for all whites - including a white helmet. Game will be on ABC at 12:30est.

GO DUCKS!

We will, of course, be rooting for PAC 10! :cheer2:

If you don't make the cruise, you at least have to join us on the boards for that trip, we'll miss you so....you can't have V become poster queen all by herself.:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

OK, I could live with that as long as we all keep in touch! And try to cruise again...and chat everyday!;) ;) ;)

Holey Moley!

ALL the money given to our entire district for the WHOLE year by ALL the PTO's is less than $100,000. We have 6,000 students in our district. Seven elementaries, two middle schools, and our High School has 2,000 students.

If every kid brought in $150 we would be in good shape!

We ask for a donation up front hoping we won't have to do a fundraiser. The most I have ever seen for 1 child is $50.

V....GREAT pics! Your girls are just so adorable. You guys look like you have so much fun. Must be a bit less stressful to hit the world so often so you can just go and have fun and not "do it all" each time.
