Yes, in Washington DC we have so many things to see.....do we ever see them....no of corse not. With Vanessa here now two weeks on Sunday, I still have not taken her downtown yet.

She has made a lot of friends and loves spending time with kids her own age. School was a challenge the first week....but we made it!!

This morning she woke up with a small rash on her face. So I asked myself, if this were my child what would I do?? I decided to give her Benedryl and send her off to school. I sent her mom an e-mail. Her mom suggested the doctor, it I think she needs it.

She came home from school and the rash was pretty much the same. She got invited out to dinner with a group of kids. She went out to dinner and came home a little while ago and the rash has really grown now. It is only on her face?? She says she does not have allergies, but she did say they were itchy.....

What would you guys do? Would you take her to the hospital? She has insurance as an exchange student. I guess I should read the policy...

If I were you, I would take her to the nearest Urgent Care facility just as her Mom suggested. Better be safe, than sorry!!

Just caught up reading, have not had time to post replies yet...I have about 25 pages to post back to....but I'm enjoying the reading and the pics.:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Hi, I have been thinking about you all day today. Are you okay?

Could be something viral. Tyler got sent home from day care on his last day (last Friday) because when he woke up from nap, he told the teachers he was itchy. He had a rash all over his abdomen and by the next evening it had spread to his shoulders and back and arms. I called his doc to ask when I should be alarmed, and she told me as long as there's no fever and he doesn't feel or act sick, it's either a viral rash or a reaction to something he may have touched or gotten into outside, could be anything, but she assured me there's no reason to worry unless he starts feeling miserable. Itchy was OK, just not miserable.

The visiting nurse will be here at noon tomorrow and I have to soak before she gets here. She will wrap properly with the medication.

After that I have to do a walk through the house with my brother and we're each picking out what we want to keep. The rest we'll junk...no time for a yard sale...just some items on ebay.

The house has to go up on auction, no probate. Mom never took Ray's name off the Deed...like she told us she did. She's in arrears since June (she was in the hospital June and July and didn't pay the bills) and that means pay the back monies in full and pay every month until we sell it OR it gets reposessed...we opted for an auction. We're doing it in 30 days...the house has to be empty. The lawyer and the auctioneer are doing a walk through on Tues at 5pm.

I contacted the wound center and said I don't want to be treated by the same doctor and that I will be registering a complaint. They said they will schedule me with another doctor that takes my insurance. I have all the info as to where to send the complaint after I write it. Thing is getting time to do it. I will make it a priority.

I guess she came in from dinner at about 9pm. I said we have an hour until the Urgent care closes and we can go now.

She said "oh all my new friends came back with me and we are going to play manhunt in the back yard" ... so I said, "well we can go tomorrow,"

I guess if she doesn't feel so worried that she would rather play than go....we can wait till the morning......

Do any of you have teenagers that play manhunt?? It is like tag for teenagers in the dark

Can you imagine being a teenage girl at a new school with 4,000 kids from another county and having a rash on your face? I told her to take another Benedryl tonight before bed. I am thinking mabe the new sheets I bought??

Well 4:30 came real early this AM so off to bed for me, great pictures and fun folks but I can't type fast enough to keep up with this group so TTFN

Love You All good night

Hmmmm......my vision of playing "manhunt" was quite different and I had to remind myself she's a teenager! :lmao: I'd never heard of it, so you can just imagine what popped into my head! Especially with the vision of the cute guy in my class in my head! :rotfl2: ;)

Holly, V, Noel, Lisa/dl5....I'm really great...just doing a lot in a short time here lately....but I'm doing fine. I'm really enjoying my DIS reading and seeing all the babbling going on...it's refreshing and fun!:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Oh I wouldn't go THAT far.....DH is snoring on the couch as we type!:lmao:

Noel - how are you doing?

I am feeling a bit better, not 100% but well enough to spend some time on the computer. Dh just called and we are going out for a quick dinner. Samantha is in San Diego doing some interviews for potential jobs.

Can't imagine. Poor girl! I'm sure the Benedryl will help. Maybe topical Benedryl or Cortizone ointment too?

If you can't find a dr. office open on sat. try urgent care or something like that. As an exchange student I'm sure she has insurance. When I studied abroad (a loooong time ago) they would not let you sign up for classes unless you had medical insurance to cover you in the foreign country you were studying. You could try calling the customer service #on her insurance card to see if they prefer urgent care or emergency room. I think better safe than sorry...unfortunately its a weekend.

I know my DD would go just to get rid of the rash. However, sounds like it must not be bothering her that much.

Maybe the sheets or food of some sort are bothering her face. So if she is not itching or going nuts, I just hope you will make it through the night without making a visit to the emergency room!!

Ciao for now.

You betcha....I keep reminding him that he took a vow and said for better or worse...sometimes it's better and sometimes it's worse. He's a good egg, I think I'll keep him.:cutie: :cutie: :cutie:

I have a big book on the medical insurance. I guess I should read it. We do have an Urgent care in Centreville. They are open tomorrow. My doctor is not open and I am not sure they will see her anyway.

She is really really pretty. And she loves to look in the mirror!! She even laughs about it!! I know the rash is bugging her.

Topical Benedryl is a good idea as well, I think I will suggest that, Thanks Holly
Lisa
