There seemed to be several cottages for sale when we were on Fire Island. Sarah's sister and brother-in-law own two properties. As far as I know they are considering selling one.
If alcohol is prohibited on the beach I did not know. We had the wedding there and the reception in the fenced in yard of one of their properties so the alcohol was consumed on private property.
I copied a post from another thread that a friend put in for me. I have some pictures from the family party but cannot figure out how to get them from yahoo to DIS.
Jan

I wanted to do my wedding the exact same way, but I didn't have the property on the beach. Lucky for Sarah to have a sister with a couple.

I just can't wait! After my niece's birthday party today, when we went back to their house to swim in their pool, my brother & his wife invited Tyler and I to visit them at the condo where they'll be staying for a couple weeks in South Haven, MI. (The pic below is from a live webcam from a few minutes ago). I spent much of my childhood on Lake Michigan because my grandparents (dad's parents) lived a few blocks from the beach. I was at their house just about every weekend most of my childhood, and even during the week for months at a time and my dad would just have to drive me to and from my school in my mom's city every day (about 45 min. each way). So opposite of Deb, who has salt water running through her veins, I have Lake Michigan water running through my veins. LOL!!!! But beach, sand, crashing waves, etc......similar environment. Tyler is so excited because I told him the beaches there are nothing like the inland lakes we have here in our city (grass with a tiny strip of sand about 3 feet wide, and you can see all the way around the little lakes). It's much more like the ocean beaches he loves so much because like the ocean, you can't see the end of the beach because the shore stretches on forever, and you can't see what's on the other side of the water. I know, there's no real comparison to ocean beaches, but it's pretty darn close! :thumbsup2

I would think that you have fresh water in your veins, Holly. But I'm not sure what kind of water Lake Michigan has....salty or fresh? I have seen the great lakes from the air in a plane and even I was amazed that I was looking at a lake and not an ocean. What great memories of growing up.

I just got some cute brown Mickey capris, Mickey shirt to match, and Mickey sandals from disneyoutlet.com for $30 with NO SHIPPING charge. Go check out their deals! I almost never buy clothes for myself until the ones I have completely wear out. I just hate shopping. Besides, all my money goes towards keeping Tyler in new clothes. But I just couldn't pass up the good deal and I figured I could use a new outfit for my November cruise. :thumbsup2 And of course I might be wearing it on this cruise. :woohoo:

Can't wait to see you in the outfit holly....wear it to Vegas in January too!
:thumbsup2  :thumbsup2

Deb,

We'll see where we are at with the business, but we think that we are IN!! DD has a 3 day weekend and we have promised to bring her to Vegas to see Love (she is a HUGE Beatles fan!)

Catching up still. Have worked till midnight the last couple of nights and the DIS is down by the time I get home and slow down!

Karen

YYYYYEEEEEEAAAAAAHHHHHHHH.....now the party is really starting to get hopping. Looks like we're going to see LOVE....I'm a Beatle fan like no other.

Holly, John wants to see Thunder also. Let's do both!
:thumbsup2 :cutie: :thumbsup2

I'm so jealous of you all getting together, I think our Dec meet is not going to happen, but I am meeting other folk there so I am happy. Still will meet you all next year!!:)

I booked car rental to FL from PA, coz we always drive. I booked flight from LAS to NWK home for 168.90 pp incl. all taxes, fees, etc. I got a red eye nonstop on Continental, coz John HATES to fly. He wants to take a pill and go to sleep and not wake up until we get there.

In four more days I can book car rental in LA and hotel in Vegas. Then I am so done and ready to go....oh still have to pay off half of the cruise....oops forgot.
 :yay:

Let us know if it works. I tried to do that with my laptop a couple weeks ago and when I closed out the first tab they all went BYE-BYE. I know I did not do something wrong because it happened another day too. I hope it worked for you and you can tell me what I did wrong when trying to post some pictures of the Family Party.

Jan :earsgirl:

Yes, it worked, but you have to remember, I am on a Mac, using Safari. It may matte what kind of browser you are using. I have also done this before.

When I got back though, I was surprised that there was a network here that was open that I could use for net access! Sorry to whoever's network it is, but you know, you can't resist the DIS.

OK, how many of our Geeks bought the iphone??? :rolleyes1

I would love to have one, but too rich for my blood right now . . . of course it does not help that our service is from Sprint, and we are tied into a contract too . . . Maybe once the price comes down and it is available on other networks.

Angel, I'm glad you're getting out of the house and wandering off with Becky....but be very, very careful and keep your eyes and ears open for anything suspicious. There's still some very bad people out there. Don't let it keep you from living your life, just be smart and keep your wits about you.

I hope you and Becky have a great day together and I hope she finds the University that's right for her. Have fun together.
:hippie:  :hippie:

thanks Deb, I'm quite looking forward to our little adventure! Mind you, we have to travel by train as I can't drive that distance yet (since the fall down stairs)...its 103 miles across country.....and we just checked the fare prices...its over £200 for the 2 of us!!!! (that'd be somewhere around $400!!) I could fly to Orlando for that! Ridiculous! She wanted to visit St Andrews (in Scotland) but think we'll have to give that one a miss!:rolleyes1

I'm really jealous of you guys going to Vegas, I've always wanted to go too...l may have to live vicariously through you Deb!;)

Have a great 4th July tomorrow everyone (forgot to say that in my pm Deb, sorry, wasn't ignoring it just coz I'm english honest!) and ahve fun:hippie:

Hi Everyone,
I haven't been on the board in a while and thought I would say hello. I was also wondering who had plan to go to Disneyland when we get to California, and where everyone was staying before and after the cruise. We are staying at the Raddison before the cruise and at the Best Western in Anaheim across from Disneyland after the cruise.

Teri

We are going to stay at the DL hotel after the cruise but can't decide what we are doing before the cruise. We can't even decide when we are flying down.

I've been looking at non stop flights from LAX to MCO and there are only AA and Delta. Are there any noticable differences? The Delta one goes a little later in the morning, so would be a better start to the day.:)

Also, what kind of time prior to these internal flights have you to be there for?

MACS RULE!
Hey John, are you working on our outfits for "Fantasy Night"?;)

iPhone...very cool:goodvibes, but not for me, at least at this time. I have Verizon and have no desire to switch, for one thing. Another is, I don't even have an iPod yet. If I had that money to spend, that's what I'd get.

Plane trips home:

I just spoke with a great rep at Super Shuttle about return flight times. She told me that it is only 25 min to LAX (with no traffic) and usually on Sundays there is very little traffic. Worst case scenario, she said ask for first off the ship and you could make earlier flights but in her opinion there wasn't going to be a problem with a 1245 flight for me. With that being said, we all know that LA traffic can be very unpredictable...but there are at least 6 other flights heading to Seattle that night, so we can always do standby if we have to. It was either a 1245 or 345 and the 3 one just seemed so late. We are booking a private supershuttle van which will cost about 86+ for the family to get to LAX, not bad in my opinion.

I am kind of sad about rushing out of there on the last morning...but I also know I will want to get home to see the dogs and get settled in before we head back to the real world on Tuesday. I am glad that I can use Sunday as a travel day and then Monday as an unwind day since it is Memorial Day and the schools/offices are closed. Are we going to be the only ones going straight home?!:sad2:

Kaylee

We're going straight home also. We will be flying Alaska.

Which flight are you getting? That is who we are flying and I am booking the 1245 flight today.

I was leaning more towards the 3:45 flight cuz I was worried about the timing. But if SuperShuttle can get us there fast then I'd rather do the 12:45.

Oh, just don't quote me on it! :lmao: I'd hate for us all to miss the flight, my guilt would be too high!!!! :confused3
