Crossing everything that there's nothing else as Dh has been put on full alert....

Where did Alex decide to stay in the end John??

What do you mean....DH has been put on full alert???....I thought you were safely out of the city???

Wow . . . I think when I graduated law school (1987 - 20 years ago, and so hard to believe that) I had about $5,000 in debt, and thought that was a lot. When my son starts med school in the fall, he will accumulate about $50,000 a year for four years . . .

I like the photo as your avatar too Holly - Nice!
How awful to hear that Alex will have much more debt than I will. I thought mine was scary! Poor Alex! :sad2:

Not a problem!! Vent away. What are DISer's for if we cannot listen?
Sounds like you have a good handle on the situation and an idea of how to proceed.

I found that with my sons the terrible twos were nothing compared to the odd numbered ages.

He is 5. He did this when he was 3--yup, odd numbered ages.

Hang in there, before you know it he will be on his own and this will be a distant memory.

Jan :earsgirl:
Thanks! :goodvibes Good point about the odd numbered ages! :thumbsup2 We had a good week this week. No bedtime screaming for hours. One night with 45 minutes of it. Another night he woke up at 12:30am and screamed for about 45min-1 hour "I can't sleep!!!!!" :headache: I'm sure my neighbors were really thrilled with him that night. :sad2:

hey guys, just wanted to pop in. Tonight was my last night of overnights at work!! yay, I get to go back to the land of the living!!!!

tomorrow we're leaving for vacation. the ever so exciting, hotspot of the country.....Kansas. I know, you guys are all jealous I get to go to Kansas....so have a good week everybody!
Hey, it doesn't matter where it is....a vacation is a vacation! Enjoy! :thumbsup2

Good morning angel....in light of the events of the day, aren't you glad you don't live in the city anymore?!?

:hippie: :rolleyes1 :hippie:

we don't live in the city Deb...actually never have..I come from Essex which is the other side of London, sorry if I confused you in the past! We're about 25 minutes by train outside of London now.

OK....this is absolutely nuts, but I had a dream last night that the Tag Fairy tagged me overnight! I can't remember what it was....I did remember it when I started reading and posting this morning, but it fell out of my head already. Strange thing to dream about! :lmao:

Well, I have to be dressed and at work in 30 minutes. Have a great day all! I know I'll be too busy at work to check in here. My work day is shortened to 5 hours on Fridays because of school right after, so cramming 8 hours of work into 5 hours always keeps me hopping on Fridays. :scared1:

I think that tag fairy is on strike!!!

Mandy, why is your husband on full alert if you live outside London? We're nosey!!!

What a good job those ambulance men saw the car and reported it and the brave bomb disposal men did their job or it could have been very nasty.

Happy Friday!

Yeah, I think the tag fairy is on strike as well....! Or maybe has been caught up in some tag fairy romance or drama??!!

Nothing exciting planned this weekend. Same ole stuff. Work has been crazy busy, we are in the budget season and then it will be year end and then audit! Yuck!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

I just wanted to say hello to everyone.

Not long after we got home from our April 28th cruise, my DSis died suddenly. For several weeks I was either too tired from dealing with all the family matters, or too upset, to even look at the DISboards. But one evening last week I came onto the thread and read the latest few pages, and it really cheered me up just to read the general chat between people. It made me remember what a great cruise we have to look forward to next year. So much so, that we actually booked our flights this week - which means there's no going back now as they are non-refundable!

Since then I've spent time whenever I can trying to catch up with the thread, but I'm still about 300 pages adrift - although I'm determined to do it eventually.

I hope everyone has a good weekend, wherever they are.

Off in a few hours to Eden(?), Utah for the Dana Family Reunion.

Heard it is by Snow Basin so imagine it will be beautiful.

Checked weather there for the weekend - highs of 88, lows of 51. The 88 degrees sounds wonderful, about 25 degrees cooler than Phoenix right now. The low is a little scary though. Our blood is too thin for those temps, we might need to take our winter jackets! Wait, what's a winter jacket?! For that matter, what's a jacket?!

:rotfl:
It's kind of like a bathing suit cover-up but a lot heavier...sometimes folks in Phoenix wear them in air conditioned offices and restaurants.

My sincere condolences to you one the loss of your sister. My two sisters are my best friends. I'm glad that you found some comfort in reading our little chats. Yes, we're going to have wonderful time and it's getting closer!

Meantime, take care... :flower3:

Sorry to hear about your sister's death. That must have been very hard for you. She must have been quite young. It is good to see you back.

Have you booked the flights from Birmingham? I am still waiting for the return flight to come available - tomorrow!!! Usually the first day they are more expensive, so will wait a few days. Virgin is our best option as it goes from Manchester.

I did wonder whether to hang on till there is a sale, but that may not be till next January, so cutting it a bit fine I think seeing as I want to book a one way from LA back to Orlando. So, will have to pay the premium rate!

Oh man! Kansas! Let me quick check Kayak and see if we can get flights and join you for a mini-meet! :rotfl: :rotfl: :lmao: Have a great vacation!

So very sorry for your loss. If your DIS family can do anything please let us know. :grouphug:

With reference to our bomb threat this morning. They are now saying there was an ordinary policeman who reached into the car and took out a mobile phone that was the trigger to detonate it and ran in the opposite direction.

What a brave man.:thumbsup2

Airfare FYI:

I know everyone is starting to look and book. I cannot book until Sunday but just was playing around with similar dates. We were going to use airmiles to book our flights but found out a very interesting rule....you cannot use miles to book a multi-city flight if the distance between the cities is greater than either of the routes...and because the distance between orlando and LA is so great, I can't do it :sad2: Though I would share in case anyone else was thinking of using miles.
So, I have a choice...book the multi city ticket and pay cash (around 310.00 pp) or use 20,000 miles and pay 100.00 pp. Choices choices choices....so frustrating. I will probably do the miles/cash combo, but still, it would have been nice to just use 25,000 pp and not be out any cash. As a side note...it is only 100.00 pp one way from LAX to Seattle! That isn't bad!
