Hi guys, trying to get to bed before we leave for the beach tomorrow. Hopefully I will get net access and can talk down there . . .

Alex is fine in London - He walked by where the car was found at about 9:00 last night. He is probably on their surveillance camera.

He went to Wimbledon today, went to see Spamalot with a couple of Canadians he met, who then corrupted him into having a few "pints" at a local pub (what's up with that PJ?).

Anyway, need to get to bed, if I don't get to talk, have a wonderful week!

I just wanted to say hello to everyone.

Not long after we got home from our April 28th cruise, my DSis died suddenly. For several weeks I was either too tired from dealing with all the family matters, or too upset, to even look at the DISboards. But one evening last week I came onto the thread and read the latest few pages, and it really cheered me up just to read the general chat between people. It made me remember what a great cruise we have to look forward to next year. So much so, that we actually booked our flights this week - which means there's no going back now as they are non-refundable!

Since then I've spent time whenever I can trying to catch up with the thread, but I'm still about 300 pages adrift - although I'm determined to do it eventually.

I hope everyone has a good weekend, wherever they are.

Welcome back, sorry to hear you've had a rough time. I hope our thread continues to cheer you up! :)

OMG Kaylee-it's beautiful. I love how it's perched up on the hill with the tree and Mt. Ranier behind. Looks like a postcard!

Congratulations!

we don't live in the city Deb...actually never have..I come from Essex which is the other side of London, sorry if I confused you in the past! We're about 25 minutes by train outside of London now.

I need a map....I said I wasn't good with directions....

Well don't go any where near the city for a little while until this thing passes over.....2 car bombs discovered now....thank all goodness that they didn't go off. :)

OK....this is absolutely nuts, but I had a dream last night that the Tag Fairy tagged me overnight! I can't remember what it was....I did remember it when I started reading and posting this morning, but it fell out of my head already. Strange thing to dream about! :lmao:

It must be for the picture in your avitar.....it looks so nice!!!:goodvibes :thumbsup2 :goodvibes

good morning guys...I just got home from work, these overnights are taking their toll, not sure how people do this on a regular basis......anyway, hope everyone has a great day!

I'm sure you mentioned this but sometimes I have a hard time keeping things straight: Why are your working overnights now? Is it just a temp thing? I worked nights while in nursing school as an aide on the floors. I went a bit crazy! Lisa

With reference to our bomb threat this morning. They are now saying there was an ordinary policeman who reached into the car and took out a mobile phone that was the trigger to detonate it and ran in the opposite direction.

What a brave man.:thumbsup2

Good to know there are still real heros in our everyday lives.

Not sure if anyone remembers me talking about this house that we have been trying to get since October. Well, it went to auction today and.........
WE GOT THE HOUSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Everyone else there to bid on the houses knew our story and let us go for it. I guess everyone was rooting for us that the bank didn't show up and.....they didn't! We got it for 1.00 over the opening bid:thumbsup2 Just what we had hoped for.

Here is a picture of the house...

The view of Mt. Rainier from the house is amazing, but of course, it is raining today so no view:sad2:
I'm sure I'll bore you all with more as we get it fixed up. It needs a lot of work and TLC before we can live in it, but we are ready for it. The girls were so excited to see the inside (they had never seen it since it went into foreclosure before we could show them).

Just had to share!

It's so nice to know that dreams do come true!!! Sooooooo happy for you and your family Kaylee. I know how much you wanted this and after seeing the picture, now I know why. Good Luck and Congratulations.....we look forward to your fixing it up stories and progress. Can't wait until it's ready for you to move in. It really is a dream come true!

I am so sorry for your loss. :grouphug:

Thank you all for your kindness.

Cheri - my DSis was also my good friend. We didn't live close by or see each other often, but we chatted by e-mail about anything and everything, several times a week. She was often up late at night and would e-mail me so it would be waiting when I arrived at work. It is very strange not to have that any more, and not to be able to tell her about everything.

Marilyn - yes, it has been hard. Far more so than I think I would ever have expected, not that it was something I had thought about. She was 55 - of the 5 of us, she was the eldest and I am the youngest (42) - but somehow we became the closest over the last 15 years or so.

Thank you for 'listening'.

I have 4 sisters and I just can't imagine.:sad1: Please know my DH and I spoke of you tonight, sent you warm wishes and our prayers are with you as you find the peace that is there, somewhere. Lisa

Glad Alex is safe, sounds like he's having a great time....good for him!

Enjoy your week away at the beach, that's another beautiful part of the world. Are you meeting DISers there or just some down time with the family?
Is Bobby Banana with you on this trip or is he still incogneto on his secret mission?

We'll look forward to seeing the pics. Have fun!!!

on another note, my dad went to Idaho for an Ironman qualifier, not sure if I mentioned it on this thread. He is a big time triathelete and this was the year he really wanted to qualify and go to Hawaii for the big race. 78 miles, (78 MILES PEOPLE!) into the bike portion he wrecked, breaking several ribs, fracturing facial bones and a punctured lung.....unable to finish, which I think was worse to him than the wounds. His spirit is a bit down as I guess now he can't qualify for the Hawaii Ironman until 2009 - (something re what he is already registered for next year)

Ok, enough about me me me...hope all is well with everyone. Happy Friday night!

(sorry to be a complainer)

Wow...I hope your dad is doing better. What a heartbreaker. I had a friend who trained forever for a triathalon and then broke her foot the week before ! She was devastated...but did great the next year! Maybe that means you guys will all head to Hawaii in 09 to cheer your dad on V!! :)

Wow Kaylee, that looks stunning. Congratulations on being successful.
Kaylee, THAT HOUSE IS GORGEOUS!!!
When is the housewarming PARTY!!!???????
Congratulations! What a GREAT house and a FANTASTIC view!::
:yay: Kaylee, that's like a DREAMHOUSE! Congrats! You'd better be careful.....this whole cruise group just may want to come throw you a GIANT housewarming party some weekend! ROADTRIP! DISmeet! :rotfl2: But seriously, that's a truly amazing house......and the scenery! I'm about to faint just imagining how beautiful it will be for you and your family every day!
We're in!! :cool1: :lmao:

Thank you all!!!! It really is a dream come true for Scott and I! Many happy tears were shed today after 9 months of trying to get this house and finally having it happen. After we vacuumed up the millions of dead flies (don't ask:eek: :scared1: )it really started feeling like home. We ate dinner there and drank a few bottles of Moet & Chandon White Star!!! :thumbsup2 See, the champagne girls were there whether they knew it or not! :lmao: I got some cool pictures tonight which I will try and share this weekend.

and is that a Norfolk Island Pine tree?
Nope, it's a cedar tree:sad2: The one thing I said I never wanted near my house because of all it drops, but, I'll survive!!!

Glad Alex is safe, sounds like he's having a great time....good for him!

Have a great vacation John!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OH yeah...forgot to mention...
The housewarming party should be either the 2nd or 3rd weekend in August! :thumbsup2 We hope to have all the work done within a month.

Got up at 5am today...couldn't sleep! Been having trouble falling asleep and trouble staying asleep. I used to always be a light sleep and have trouble like this, but after I had Tyler, I was always completely exhausted at the end of the day that I would fall asleep immediately and sleep like a rock. I became a super heavy sleeper. But now my body is slowly creeping back into its old sleeping problems. Yuck. But that problem should disappear for at least tonight because we have a busy day ahead of us. I usually pick Tyler up from his dad's at 5 on Saturdays, but am picking him up at 12:30 this afternoon because we have a birthday party out of town at 2:00 (one of Tyler's cousins) at a cool place with a bunch of those 2-story high inflatable slides (adults get to play too), then my brother and his wife invited Tyler and I to swim at their house afterwards. So by the time we get back to town, it will surely be bedtime.

Yesterday, after work and school and then dinner with a co-worker, I did 2 hours of yardwork that I've been neglecting. Actually, lack of time is more accurate. I still have to do the backyard, but the bugs were starting to come out because it got so late. Will try to do the back before I pick Tyler up. I'm sure my neighbors wouldn't appreciate getting awoken by my lawnmower at 6:30am on the weekend, so I'm headed back to sleep for a few hours. My body is SORE from yesterday's yardwork, but what a great workout!

Have a great day everybody! :goodvibes

lol Deb, no worries. Actually we do ahve to go into London on Wednesday as we are travelling via the city to go up north. We're doing open days at some of Becky's first choice Universities at the moment and I've said I'll go to see Leicester Uni with her...

I'm hoping the train services will be back to normal by then! Luckily, the London Uni's she was visiting were all in the last couple of weeks.

So sad to read this, my thoughts are with you. We too have experienced a loss over the last few weeks and it is good to be able to come here and share some friendship with caring people.

It must be awful to lose your sister, I can't imagine how sad you are feeling, my sister is also my best friend so I would be devastated. We are lucky to ahve such good friends in our sisters really, and I'm glad you were able to enjoy your sister in that way. Too often you hear of warring families, for one reason or another. I'll be thinking of you.
