What is the latest on the travels of Bobby Banana?
When we get that going can we coordinate who he visits next and can we set up a thread about his adventures on our own special SHIP OF THIEVES website?
Jan :earsgirl:

Yeah, I forgot about Bobby Banana--has he started his travels yet?

Hi everyone,

I feel like I have been gone forever but it has only been a couple of weeks. I was hoping once summer started I would get back on track but it does not seem to be working that way.

To drive to Vegas is very doable in 4 hours. The speed limits are pretty high because it is all desert going out. I would book your hotels now because it is a holiday weekend.

I hope everyone is having a good day!

Did I tell you guys that we saw the last shuttle launch from the Magic?

The Captain parked the Magic offshore, and we watched the shuttle take off! They put the NASA live feed on the Dumbotron too!

It was sooooo cool!

You may have answered this already, I am so far behind....
but is the picture of the shuttle behind the kids on the Dumbotron? Is that why it is so large?
Jan :earsgirl:

Does anyone know how long it takes to drive from Los Angeles to Las Vegas? We checked flights....to do a red eye non-stop on Sat. night one week after cruise is $800 for two from LA and $300 for two from Vegas. We're considering checking out of our hotel at Rodondo Beach on Fri and driving to Vegas....staying over one night on Fri and flying out on Sat night from there. In addition to the flight savings, we would save one night in hotels. Big savings overall....it might be worth the drive....plus we have never been to Vegas and it might be fun to end the trip from there.:rolleyes1 :cool2: :rolleyes1

Someone may have answered already but it's about 4-5 hours driving time! It's a bit of a boring drive, but before you know it, you're in Vegas!!!

Last bobby post was that he was on a secret mission, I know that he is scheduled to visit the Outer Banks in North (?) Carolina with John, starting next week.

Jan :earsgirl:

Yes, it was on the Dumbotron. The Captain circled the ship in the area of the launch so we could see it from the ship. Although the circling made me a little ill to my stomach and I was in my stateroom for the actual lift-off.

Sounds like a miniDISmeet after cruise....I just checked out hotels and decided that I want to stay at the Luxor....it's the pyramid....but I'm going to love it so much that I'm going to want to go back coz we'll only be staying one night there.....so we'll have to do it again and meet up with you and others that want to come some time after cruise. How FUN would that be!!!:hippie:  :hippie:
Sounds great to me! Hmmm....maybe a quick weekend before the cruise too! Would be a great getaway in the winter. :goodvibes

Sounds like a plan! I'll start saving money now! :woohoo: I love Vegas and haven't been in 2 years. Luxor, here I come! Well, I suppose I should worry about paying for my November cruise first, before planning any other trips. After that one is paid (Sept. 10 is the due date), then I can think about Vegas.

Check SWA. Their flights are usually the cheapest. www.southwest.com

I already paid for my Halloween cruise and I have this cruise half paid....if I have to give John a present anyway....this works for us. We'll keep it tentative for now....let us know if it works for you or we could always push the date back. This cruise has to be paid for some time around the beginning of Feb. Maybe we could even go in March??? We'll see what works out. But it will be a lot of fun to get away to Vegas and meet everyone before cruise.

I think January would be best. Right in the middle of winter, when it would be great to get warmed up for a couple days! :goodvibes It will be a cheap getaway, so just about any time works for me, as long as it's after Sept. 10 when I have to pay for my Nov. cruise. This cruise is chump change compared to what I have to pay for the Nov. one because in Nov. I'm paying for 2 people (unless I find somebody to take Tyler's place), but only 1 on this cruise, Nov. is a verandah, but this one is only a Cat. 11. Cheap in comparison! :thumbsup2

Well, my eyelids are about to slam shut for the day, so I'm headed to bed! Goodnight all! ;)

For me it's just the opposite....Oct cruise is 2 people, Cat 6, 4 nights, way less.....May cruise is 2 people, Cat 6, 15 nights, way more.....but Jan will work for me too. I plan to have May cruise paid by then. So I say let's do it!!!! Luxor here we come!!!

I'm in for sure! :woohoo: I just checked Allegiant Air and they have a great price for an airfare plus Luxor package. :thumbsup2 Yippee!

OK....now I'm going to bed for real this time. :guilty:

Thanks Noel! I checked them out and they're only booking until the beginning of Nov 07 right now. If I use them, I have to fly into Philadelphia and then I would need to get someone to pick me up. They don't go into Newark, where I can cab it to my car parked at John's job. We'll see what works out best. Maybe I can use them for my Jan 08 Vegas DISmeet and leave the car parked at the airport for the weekend. Thanks for the tip.
:thumbsup2 :goodvibes :thumbsup2

Hello all,

Just got back from a weekend family camping trip in Flagstaff. I figured out I'm not a camper, but Jack the monkey is.

So I was working on planning our July vacation and thought "I wonder if the Grand Californian has vacancies?" They did and now I just have to convince DH "It's worth it!" If I have to spend 2 nights sleeping on a yacht with 4 males, we should finish the trip at the Grand Californian.

I'm trying to catch up on the posts, but have come to the conclusion that I will never catch up. Hope everyone is feeling better and I hope the pixie dust has worked its charm on those in need.

Goodnight Holly....

Cheri, are you game? How about a weekend in Vegas Fri Jan 11, 08???

Anyone else want to come and meet us?
:woohoo: :cheer2: :woohoo:
