Wow, that is steep. I was happy to find $199 from LAX - MCO, direct no less!! That's why we grabbed them up. There were cheaper flights that were not direct, but that scared me. With our luck we'd get stuck somewhere and miss the ship, or our luggage would go somewhere and we'd leave without it. I want to get on in CA and get off in FL, with my luggage, hopefully!!!

I agree...direct is my preferred way too. I know our friends, who live in Aromas, tried San Jose, San Francisco and ??? to find a direct flight to MCO and weren't able to get any for a reasonable price. They waited a bit long to book their tickets though. Our tickets (WA-Fl, and LA-WA) are going to be around 350.00 for the whole trip (directs on Alaska) so that 300.00 just seems so high...they should come down. Good luck Lisa (calmom) and hoping you get a 200.00 flight as well, Lisa (liserann) did!

I bet every parent on here has that thought! My girls best friends are flying to San Diego for 10 days in August to stay with all the grandparents. I am sooo jealous, they get 10 days with NO kids!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh the stuff I could get done, the meals Scott and I could enjoy, the peace and tranquility! But then, I realize I would miss them (a little )

Oh honey, every child does this sometime and if a mother ever tells you thier child never had a temper tantrum they are lying.

My favorite temper tantrums are the ones that are so funny you start to laugh and then they get madder and it gets funnier. I really have to control myself then. Ever have those?

Nope, haven't had one of those funny tantrums. I always want to strangle him each time. But I've seen my friend's kids have some that made me laugh!

Today my DD did not want to go to church, and I gave her her choices and she said "Fine, I will just go to church every day because every day is Sunday" and stomped off. It was all I could do to not bust out laughing. She came back and saw me giggling and just started to laugh.

One time, John said something so funny to his little one who was upset, I am still laughing about it to this day. Hopefully he is still on and can share.

Seriously, hasn't tyler ever done the jumping up and down. face red thing that just is so out of whack with the situation you just can't help but laugh?

I had one of those moments today- child was actually crying and I just started laughing. We were driving home from Santa Cruz and my oldest suddenly became "starving." He got himself all worked up that he just starting crying and my youngest (19 month old) started humming Twinkle-twinkle-little-star. I started singing it with him and my 9 year old wailed - "stop singing it is making me more hungry." It just stroke me funny and so I laughed and he then yelled: "laughing makes it worse." Couldn't resist. I started to make knock-knock jokes. Never got him to stop crying but the other boys got some laughs.

Once home, chicken nuggets solved the crisis. If only nuggets were the answer to all fits of rage!

Glad you had a good time! I have a several really good white wines now that are VERY dry and some amazing reds that you would like as well! We have about 4 times more wines now than we had before we moved!!

The flights I want (direct SFO -MCO) is in the mid $300s for one-way! I'm going to wait a couple weeks in hope it will dip back down and once it does I will grab it. I really don't want to have a connecting flight - it is just so tiring.

So Holly, if Tyler doesn' go in November, would he go on this one by chance? I'm sure my boys could give him a run for his money with some of their mischevious behavior! Hang in there...I really can't imagine doing this parenting on my own. I have a hard time when DH works late.

It was too late, and she needed to get some rest. She fought me all the way, and as we were saying good night to Kim and her family, I told her I had to get Sophia back to our cabin before her head started spinning in circles and she started talking in Greek (reference to the little girl in the Exorcist, for those who may not know the movie).

She was just about at that point of yelling and screaming! It was worth a good laugh!

It's just hard being strict when his dad isn't. So his dad always tells me how perfectly Tyler behaved at his house, how he's always so well-behaved, etc. And then whenever Tyler's in trouble with me, he always says he wants to go to his dad's because "dad would let me" do whatever I'm not allowing him to do.

Holly, I have a cousin, Doug, we're very close and he is in the exact same position as you are with his son, Kyle. Doug is VERY strict with Kyle...then he goes to his mother's house and he gets away with everything. Kyle is 10 years old now and is used to shuffling back and forth evenly during the week. Cara, Kyle's mom, and Doug have always put Kyle first and have stayed living in the same neighborhood so Kyle can go to the same school. Cara is married and has another son, but both families always do birthdays and holidays together. Kyle is the most well behaved, well mannered and respectful child you could ever meet. Doug just stuck to his guns and stayed strict with him. Like you, Doug also spends a lot of time "playing" with Kyle and giving him attention. They'll do rockets and models and video games, etc. together. I'm sure Doug uses that as punishment/privledge with Kyle.

So hang in there, you're a great mom....kids will test the waters....just stick to your guns and stay strick....he will be a wonderful gentleman one day that you'll be very proud of.

Hi everyone,
I'm back home, my company is gone and my life is starting to settle down! I had so much fun at DL with my nephew (the one in pic below) for a couple of days, then my sis and cousin came and we all had a good time together for a couple more days. We got to ride Nemo, only waited about an hour (went first thing last Sunday morning). It brought back A LOT of memories when I sat down on that little seat in the submarine and stuck my face up to the porthole (it seems like the seat wasn't nearly so little the last time I rode it--wonder why???? ). It's a cute ride, very well done, worth waiting an hour for; 2 hours or more, I wouldn't. My cousin came home with me and stayed 6 days. We had a great time--we're just a couple of months apart in age and like sisters.

I've read the last few pages of posts but am really far behind, so if something important has happened in the last 10 days or so, would someone PM me and fill me in? Thanks!

Otherwise, I'm looking forward to chatting with everyone again.

No, don't cook it....just put it in dry rice so that it can absorb the water. When I lived at the beach, I used to put rice in all my salt shakers to absorb the moisture in the air and keep the salt from getting wet and clumpy.

Thanks! But how interesting that it really does seem Doug and Kyle have the same situation as Tyler and I! I'm not sure if I mentioned before that Tyler's dad lives only 1 mile down the road because we wanted to keep both homes close together! Of course, that will probably change when he and his wife have a baby (or I should say if she has a baby....issues conceiving) because they just got a puppy 2 days ago (a purebred Akita---will be big) and they complain about how small their house is. So if a baby comes, they'll definitely move (even though their house is a large 3 bedroom with finished basement). But in the meantime, it's nice that we live so close. His dad was able to bring the new puppy over yesterday to show Tyler, since we just live literally down the road. SUPER CUTE puppy and I don't even like dogs normally!

Plans for tonight: Well, I got out of work at 2:30pm, dashed to class by 3, then I pick up Tyler from day care and take him to his hockey skating class, then stop quickly at a store on the way home, and hope to be home a little before 8 because Tyler's bedtime is at 8. He needs a bath, but that will have to wait until tomorrow night.

To answer your other question, I have class 3 days a week (Mon, 3-5pm, Thurs 6-9pm, and Fri 2-5pm). So to keep up with everything, I just don't get very much sleep during the semester, especially the last 1/2 when it's time to cram for finals. I'm SO looking forward to the day when I can go to work and then do whatever I want to do afterwards.
