Yeah Noel, my sister had one of those - but did not see her on our cruise . . .:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

John, I figure you and I are about the same age but thought maybe some of the "youngsters" might not know of whom we were speaking.

So, what happened to the DIS? Gone for more than a few minutes.

Anyway . . . I am a tail end baby boomer Noel. 1960.

As you guys know, my family has been sad and suffereing over the last few weeks. We have tried to keep going and keep our spirits up.

Gretchen (DD10) has been practicing for Mulan every since November when she got the role of Crickee in the play. She has worked so hard, practicing 2-3 times a week, along with all of her other extra stuff. Anyway, the show was this week.....she did it 4 times!! Twice on Tuesday and Twice on Wednesday.

Someone just e-mailed me these pictures she took of Gretchen and I wanted to share them!! (she is in green!)

Good eye-rolls!! Our DD12, is just a bit too good at that with her parents these days!!

You must be very proud, again!! She is adorable and it is great that you are letting her continue to do all of these wonderful things, as it is important to do the every day stuff of LIFE!!!

Keep up the good spirits and have a great weekend!!

Karen

tee hee. I know that doll. too funny, again wonderful weburfing to you :surfweb:

I have been reading every day but not posting much as DD came home to do interviews for either an internship/job in either a law firm or a pr agency in the SF Bay area. Her goal is to move in with her friends in Los Angeles by fall, unrealistic, but her dream goal. She wants to work for at least a year prior to applying to law school so we are encouraging her to live at home to save money.

Most of us probably remember the excitement of interviewing for our first "jobs". I am reliving it through Sam. Her first interviewer turned out to be a fellow graduate of her high school, Crystal Springs Uplands in Hillsborough. What a way to start the interview process!! She came out of the interview so upbeat and positive, it set the tone for the rest of the days interviews. Her first words to me were, "Mom, I don't know why I ever doubt myself!! I aced the interview."

Even if she is not offered a position, she is off to a flying start!! Well, we are off again to the last interview. Chat with you all later.

Excellent! A good sense of self and good self-esteem are both products of you and your husband's good parenting!!

You must be very proud, and I hope that she find something close to home!!

BTW - have missed your posts! Glad to have you back!

Karen

Her name is Shelly......nope, no wine involved, but definitely dinner and maybe a beer for me and her drink of choice is an Amaretto sour. We mainly just want to relax and have time together to catch up. She'll be going through a divorce soon (her husband moved out a week ago), so I suspect she just needs to get away from the situation for a short time and have a shoulder to lean on for a bit.

Sorry to hear about Shelly's situation, but I'm glad you'll be able to spend some quality time together rebonding. It's good for both of you. Have fun!:hippie:

Thought we were the same age... I think I even alluded to it in an earlier post! Same year, towards the end.

It was a very good year...

It's good to see you back, Noel. It's not the same here without you. What an awesome day you and Sam shared...seeing her go out into the real world for the first time...priceless....and to see her being successful at it....your heart must be swelling with pride....to know that all your efforts over the years of teaching her have now been rewarded. It doesn't get any better than that... enjoy the milestone together.

Hi all , finally got caught up on my reading again. I just love all the pictures that have been posted of your beautiful children. Hopefully after my daughter's wedding I'll find time to figure out how to post some pictures of my own. I went with Sara to her 1st wedding gown fitting the other day :goodvibes Of course she looks stunning :goodvibes The dress is just a perfect fit, she only needs the straps shortened a little and the hem length shortened an inch or two. I spent my only day off work this week shopping for shoes, but yippee :cool1: I finally found a pair! Now to find a purse and some jewelry  Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Please post pictures of Sara and her wedding. We LOVE to see them. What a special moment for you...trying on her wedding dress together. The countdown is on, it won't be long now and you'll be there, crying and laughing and dancing. Hope it's everything you imagined it to be and more!

Kaylee....I'm so excited to see our name....can't wait....wanna get to the ship early, I mean, we ONLY have FIFTEEN days on the ship:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: PM me when you want some $$$$!

We saw Michael Eisner at Kutztown University the other night - very interesting. Bob and I were so excited to see him - guess he is a hero to us, the Disney lovers that we are....(I did want to ask him what he has done with ALL the money Bob and I have given him over the years - all those Disney trips and cruises:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: ).

Almost a year away - can't believe it!:dance3: :dance3:

Lucy and Bob:flower3:
(next month we will be meeting EllaEnchanted - Deb and John - can't wait for that night too!):woohoo: :woohoo:

....Providing it doesn't snow again...you'll have to tell me all about the Michael Eisner meeting at dinner. Remember it's on Saturday at Fridays...can't wait, only a couple more weeks.:cheer2: :dance3: :cheer2:

I'M a tail end baby boomer, John. 1956. I was 12 during the summer of Woodstock. Naturally, I wanted to go, of course, I was not allowed. But I remember it like I was there.:hippie:  :flower3:

DH is 1957! Big B-day this year! Any suggestions on something cool to do?

Karen

Yup, my sister, Cathy, had one too!! I'm sure that with ebay, she wishes that she still had one!!;)

Not me, no Chatty Karen's made at that time... except for me!!:rolleyes1

Karen

I remember that I just HAD to have Chatty Cathy, but then when I did get her at Christmas, I didn't like her anymore. She was too big to play with. I liked Thumbalina much better. I got her the same Christmas. I played with her a whole lot more. I had forgotten all about them until you guys dragged up the memories. Thanks for that!:rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

Make it Blue!!

DIS will go down soon, Deb!! Have a great morning!!

Karen

Hi Karen, yes the DIS went down for almost an hour. By now you're sleeping...sweet mickey dreams!:cloud9:

I have a very special birthday party to go to today. Tom DGS turned 16 yesterday. Of course, all he wants to do is go down to motor vehicle and take his permit test. I remember having a surprise sweet 16 birthday party. I even had a glass and filled it with memories from the party then I added 16 new pennies and one for good luck from the year I was born, then filled it with water and melted the candles from my cake over the top. I held on to it for many years and later moves. I remember moving apartments in NYC and it finally leaked. I was 20-something. I finally had to throw it out, but I think I kept the pennies. Talk about going down memory lane...

I decided that for my 50th, last November, I wanted to go to NYC and see a broadway show and eat dinner at Tavern on the Green in Central Park and stay overnight at a nice hotel. I haven't had the chance to do it yet, with mom and her hospital stays starting just before my birthday. But I do intend to get there and my best friend, Cindy, and her husband said they'll join us. Cindy turns 50 this August. Maybe we'll go then and celebrate both of us.

For Ted, you should find the thing that he loves the most, besides Mickey and wine, and make a special weekend out of it. Maybe invite his best friend too. A special museum, a concert, riding horses, etc., make it an experience.

I didn't want a big party. I'm not 16 anymore. I just want quality time with those I love the most by choice.
