Quick update about my friend - turned out that she didn't have the ok from Stanford oncology to go through IVF another month. Her oncologist misspoke or she misunderstood. She does need to start Chemo on Tuesday. She is very sad. Anyway, just thought I'd give an update. Lisa

Lisa, that is so sad for your friend. Will be thinking and praying for her with her treatment.

My DH is pretty religious and when he was in school we were having awful troubles with financial aid. He kept telling me pretty much every day how he was praying that everything would work out. He said he was asking St. Peter for help. One day he said how he was asking Peter for help and Peter said he could do something. I thought my DH lost his mind as I thought he meant St. Peter - but he was talking about someone named Peter in the student services. :rotfl: Peter turned out to be our little saint and did get everything worked out. Lisa

:rotfl2: what a great story!

Mandy,

Glad you having a better day! Mine was not so great today:confused:

Glad shopping helped, it always seems to help things!

Karen

Sorry yours wasn't so good Karen, you should have come shopping with us instead! Hope today is miles better for you my friend.

Hi angel, glad you had a sunnier day yesterday. Did you enjoy your shopping trip with Becky? What did you girls buy?;) ;)

We had a good day thanks Deb. Just one minor outbreak  of teenage temper from dd, (sometimes she forgets she's 19 and thinks she's only 9....maybe the temper is from her red hair!):rolleyes1
Came home with some new tops for my holiday in 2 weeks :dance3: a couple of books for the cruise ('The Book of Lost Things' by John Connolly and a new Barbara Erskine novel)....and some new shoes!:cool1: :thumbsup2 Lovely comfy ones for walking round the parks...:rotfl2:

They were here 3 and 1/4 hours! I did get to the loo when they popped out to the van, but they got back before I managed to get past the loft ladder, so I had to squeeze past when they were standing on it!! We do now have HOT water so it was worth it. And I got to Dis etc all morning!
How amazing is that, a spare John in the right age range too.:rotfl: I think a mini Dis meet is in order!!

glad you've got your hot water at last Maz!:thumbsup2

Holly, cooeeee, wake up.:rotfl:

Hi Mandy, hope you are still feeling ok!

The sun is coming out here.:) Must go and get ready. It is the last day of the school holidays so I expect fed up parents and whingy children! It was bad yesterday. I would leave it till next week, but I haven't the time then.

Have a great day Deb, Mandy and everyone else as you wake up.

Happy shopping Maz!:thumbsup2 it was really quiet here in Reading yesterday, I was surprised! Hope it's the same for you!:thumbsup2

A priest one time told me that one that one main reason the church stopped allowing priests to get married had to do with finances (I'm Catholic myself - I just find this interesting perspective and not wanting/starting a debate:goodvibes). Here is what one article on the web said (on the About.com site):

A further and very important factor in the push to require celibacy for clergy was the problematic relationship the Roman Catholic Church had with real estate and inherited land. Priests and bishops were not just religious leaders: they also had political power over the people. When they controlled land, which was at the time the basis for any political power, that land could either go to the church or to the man's heirs when he died.

Naturally the church wanted to keep it and retain political power itself; the best way to do that was to ensure that there weren't any rival claimants on the land, and keeping the clergy celibate and unmarried was the easiest way to accomplish this goal. Making celibacy a religious obligation was also the best way to make sure that the clergy obeyed.

Interesting I think.

Learn something new everyday!!:woohoo:

Thanks for the education!!:thumbsup2

Hi Angel, how's the weather by you today? It's still cold here on the East coast. We're still waiting for Spring to come back. We had a tease of it for a few days, then gone. The local news said our Christmas was warmer than our Easter. How crazy is that. :sad2:

Sounds like a great shopping trip Angel, except for the DD tantrum thing. Of course, we bought new shoes!!!! Must have new shoes!

Where are you going in two weeks? I know Marilyn is going to the Canary Islands in one week and then you leave just after her.

Off to the world Deb! :cool1: We leave to stay overnight at London Gatwick on the 26th, then fly out to Orlando the next day. We have 6 nights at the Pop, then 2 at Hard Rock (have to have our Universal fix), then 1 week from 5th to 12th on the Western cruise on Disney Magic!  :cool1:

Can't wait!:dance3:

It's a little overcast here today, but we've had some great weather lately and the weekend is supposed to be very warm! Much warmer than it normally is this time of year! Hope yours warms up too!:hippie:

Lisa,

I'm sure that it is for the best, though it won't feel that way right now. She really needs to focus on getting better and gaining strength. As anxious as she is for a child, she needs to remember that it takes strength as well as love and health to raise that child.

Thoughts and Prayers and PD pixiedust: going out to her!

The Woodside Elementary school in our area has both a foundation and an auction every year to raise funds. The auctions there are really over the top!!

I worked for 7 years on the auction at my daughter's school raising funds. People that don't volunteer and work these auctions have no idea about the tremedous amount of time and effort they take.

My hat is off to you guys!! You deserve kudos for all the time and effort you and Amy put in for your children.

The only high school I know of here in California that has a fully funded football program is the school my nephews attended, De la Salle in Concord.

And they are at the top of the game every year!!

We helped out with the Dinner Dance and Auctions for the 6 years that DD was in her elementary school and even donated and attended again a month ago! We donated lots of great wine items again. (If I say so myself, and I do!)

We also get lot's of donation request from the schools in Benicia at our shop. We always donate to those as well.

The schools need all of the additional help that carrying parents and business can give!

Now that's my kind of a vacation....I am so totally jealous. I have to wait another six months before I get back to Mickey...doing a cruise and World. It's hard to wait until it gets here. It'll be one year since we last went. Note to self...must do Mickey every six months, one year is just too long to wait.

Have a blast, I know you will.:wizard:

Good very late evening Karen...I'm surprised you're up at this hour. I'm up early, not late today. DH is getting ready for work, he's up everyday at this time and sometimes I get up with him.

Hope your day is better today, or tomorrow after you sleep, than yesterday was. Wishing you positive vibes...:goodvibes

Deb,

Still up trying to catch up!! The DIS went down and I got busy with a project, so I am trying to finish catching up!!

A spare John!! Holly's gotta' like that!!

Karen

Sorry yours wasn't so good Karen, you should have come shopping with us instead! Hope today is miles better for you my friend.

And Tea at Harrods? Can't think of a better way to feel better!

I'll be toddeling off to bed soon, hopefully I will sleep better tonight than last night and tomorrow will be an easier and less stressful day than today!

Have a lovely day, Mandy!

Deb,

I couldn't agree more, that's why we are going to DL in May and WDW in November!!

Well goodnight and good morning all!

I am off to bed before the laptop falls on the floor while I am nodding off!!

Hope everyone has an Ab/Fab day!!

Karen

Well, can't resist popping in just before I go out!!!:rotfl:
I don't get up at this time everyday with him, just sometimes. Today I'm back in the doctors office with mom. Taking her to an Internal Medicine Geriatric specialist. He needs to coordinate all of her specialists and get her on a maintenance program so we can avoid another hospital stay. She has been in the hospital four times in three months. That's way too often. So hopefully, this doctor will be able to prevent that.

What kind of things are on your shopping list for today? It's always fun shopping for a holiday or vacation away. I love wearing all new things when I go away. It makes the trip so much more fun.

These elderly parents can take up so much time. Hope things go ok for her.

I am hoping to buy some smarter cropped trousers, a bathing cossie cover up, a nice top or two and perhaps one or two other things.

The weather seems strange all over. We are having just lovely weather at the moment!

Have a great day.

After Halloween cruise and World, it'll be six months until this cruise and Land. Gonna get spoiled...I am. Gonna LOVE it just waiting six months instead of one year. Gonna get hooked like you.

Don't know that DH will agree to every six months after that...we're supposed to be rennovating this house and saving to build our retirement house in Delaware in four years. DH is going to get very adament about spending money on houses not Mickey. I say we do both! :woohoo:

Good Morning!

such good work - I wish I were closer I would be all in to help!

and AMY - I am sooooo sorry about the table at AK...I feel like such a smuck!
:confused3

schmuck . . .

The Woodside Elementary school in our area has both a foundation and an auction every year to raise funds. The auctions there are really over the top!!

The only high school I know of here in California that has a fully funded football program is the school my nephews attended, De la Salle in Concord.

Have heard of that school . . . always one of the tops in the nation - remember, this is football country. We get (not at the district I live in, but where Amy and I went to school) 20,000+ at one of the HS Football games every year - Massillon/McKinley. High School Football is HUGE around here.

This stadium will be for more than football though - all outdoor events on our HS campus.

Deb, wish I looked like the girl in the photo in that top!!!!!;) :rotfl2: Sadly it wasn't our cruise tickets that came in the parcel, just Mark's new memory card for his camera...now he can take over 1000 photo's....:cool1:

Had a lovely visit with my friend, Katrina, very noisy and crazy as she has 4 girls aged 6, 9 and twins of 12! They're lovely girls so I enjoy seeing them all.

And Tea at Harrods? Can't think of a better way to feel better!

I'll be toddeling off to bed soon, hopefully I will sleep better tonight than last night and tomorrow will be an easier and less stressful day than today!

whenever you like Karen, just hop on that plane and we'll do tea at harrods....with a little shopping thrown in!:thumbsup2 Maybe all the 'champagne girls' can get together at harrods one day for a champagne tea one day....:dance3:

Hope you have a much less stressful day today Karen...sweet dreams!:wizard:

Marilyn, hope you got your holiday clothes! Not so sure I 'can' wear tops like this one really ....but I will anyway!:thumbsup2 :rotfl2:

we've been so lucky just lately! We were in WDW in December, then this trip April/May, then back again with the whole family this coming October....then again next May!!:cool1: :cool1: Can't believe I am so spoiled to go 4 times in 17 months!:rolleyes1 :yay:
