I keep hearing what I am in for in a few years (like it's easy now?) and I cannot imagine having to deal with that with a girl who also may have a bit of a language barrier. Or, to send my daughter over somewhere for a year in her teens?

Am I being an irrational dad?

no, just the ordinary normal sort John!:thumbsup2

Like this, was able to grab this in December before the cruise,

great photo! :thumbsup2

:goodvibes Hello everyone! I soooo miss you all. It has been just crazy. We are selling our first home (which has been a rental). All with the secret plans to have enough money to take this cruise!! Just kidding (somewhat!). Tax season has KILLED us! My husband had his severance from his last job before starting his business. The taxes are sooo big. My DH is questioning this cruise and I WILL NOT LET IT GO! Of course they make real estate taxes come the same time as income taxes. Noel, you can I sure imagine what our real estate taxes is since we just got in the Woodside market in 2005. Yikes! Anyway, work and taxes has taken over our lives but I wanted to take a breath to say hi. I think soon I can do my nightly reading of DIS to catch up. But until then please keep me in your thoughts! By the way, my friend got an okay from Stanford oncology to wait for chemo and try IVF for one more month. She is thrilled as last month she could only get one egg (or how ever that works). I'm scared of course because she is postponing treatment, but I figure the doctors wouldn't okay it unless it wasn't too risky.
That's all - sorry for the long posting. Lisa

Lovely that you're back Lisa. Glad to hear your friend's doing better.:)

So FUNNY:rotfl: Of course you know I will read it all.. since it is all about me I just need you all to say "Lisa, how can we live without you knowing about us...you need to read." Don't doubt that every word anyone has ever said....I will know!!!!! Good night. Lisa:coffee:

"Lisa, how can we live without you knowing about us...etc etc!......is that right Lisa?:thumbsup2 :rotfl2:

Mandy,

Just getting this as it's been a long, stressful day as well for me. I really hope that things got better for you yesterday and that today will be a much better day!!:hippie:

Sending belated pixiedust:

ME! Sanjaya's still around...no surprise.

NO!!!!!!!! I tried to stick my fingers in my ears!!!!:rolleyes1 Should have covered my eyes instead!:rotfl2:

I can't move!!! The plumbers are here - been here 2 hours. We live in a small bungalow and the loft access is in the hall, so the ladder blocks the route to the bathroom and bedrooms. I have the lounge and kitchen, but I must look so lazy just sitting on the laptop with the TV on!!!:confused3

Can't even do some hooping in the lounge in case they see me.:lmao: Run out of things to Google, nobody here to chat with, can't try my summer clothes on ready for our hols........ !! All I can do is:surfweb: and:happytv: !!! I have already :laundy: Ok, might just go and make a :coffee:

sounds like a great excuse Maz!!!:thumbsup2

I think I used the correct term for here with 'visit the bathroom' didn't I? I would usually say 'go to the loo'!!:)

Lisa, I have missed you!! I was away for a week and I did the reading to catch up. It was very hard. In the future, I will just pick and read and ask questions.....have you noticed how everyone likes to answer questions!!

I'll never forget being 11 and having a French exchange student. My parents didn't know what to do when the 17 year old went nude sunbathing while my 18 year old brother just watched the show! Lisa

note to myself: ask student: Do you sunbath in the nude?

Norway, ya ya...(can ya hear the accent?) I'm norweigan by marriage ya know.

I love this idea, but we don't currently have an extra bedroom so until we find the right house I'll wait for this opportunity.

I hope both my kids will want to try this. Perhaps even in Norway. We belong to a fraternal organization...Sons of Norway. They are big on education and such, so we hope the kids will benefit from that aspect. Molly tells us that she wants to learn Norweigan as her next language. Not exactly what I suspected to hear after Spanish, but it follow her heritage so I suppose that is a good a reason as any.

I'll look forward to hearing more on her coming to your home in January, and from California I'll offer our Norweigan support and love.

Book us for that jeep ride, it sounds great. I think I'll not tell Paul until we arrive, otherwise I think he'd be foaming at the mouth to drive.

She will come in August and stay till June...it will be the school year. Daniel will be away at school so it will just be my 2 daughters. They want a big sister type!!

What really cracks me up is when some of the people on the DIS board comment on St. Maarten "clothing optional" beaches. Not always a pretty sight as many people are quite elderly!!

Since I grew up in California, spent time in Europe and traveled in the Caribbean "clothing optional" beaches were pretty common. Not always a pretty sight as many people are not always "eye candy"

By the way, gloomy rainy day in the Bay area so I was not suprised to hear that it snowed in Tahoe.

Now the news is saying SNOW :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: Sunday Night for us in DC!!

They said it has snowed here 4 times here on record in May. So I guess all this weird cold weather is not record breaking. Although we have had some record breaking lows at night over the last week.

Oh that is tempting! We'll have to see how the sale of the house is going by then. If the house is ready to market and sold we would not have to do the Thanksgiving madness at our house and might be able to squeeze one more DL trip in. Will your 2 girls be going with you?

I don't think so, but not sure at this point. More school loss for Sophia, and I don't think Amy has any remaining vacation in '07.

Lisa,

Caught Idol, not surprised by the outcome!!;)

I would just read the posts. Mult-quote if you feel you need to comment, but otherwise it will go pretty quickly as the snow falls, in Tahoe!

Lot's of fun tidbits and ancidotes (SP?)...:thumbsup2

Glad to have you back!:hippie:

Karen

Note to myself: where do I sign up for this program?:rotfl2:

Yup!!

Rocky Horror, anyone?

Karen

:yay: Me! Big RH fan. Still use my favorite line all the time: "I shiver with an---tis-a----------------------pation." Saw the movie a couple of times in the theater, but have seen it a jillion times on tv/tape. I actually saw Rocky Horror on stage in LONDON!!! Summer of '79...also saw Evita that trip.

I had a BIG SURPRISE last night. Peg and I got to have dinner with clynne and Surley and the kids! :cool1: They had a slight change in their road trip itinerary and ended up doing an overnight stop in Phoenix! What a treat! AND I get to see them again in 5 weeks in Disneyland along with a collection of you thieves!

Here are some :grouphug: :cheer2:  pixiedust: :drinking1 for all who need it today!

Oh, John1 , I've been meaning to say HOW FUNNY your post was on the 'lifeboat' thread! You crack me up man! :rotfl2:

Life is too short not take time to laugh, and sometimes, laughter truly is the best medicine.

Even the little ones count for something!

just renewed our Gator season tickets...that was painful. I talked to John for about half a minute regarding not renewing and we both know that will never happen....an addiction, just like Disney....I have also been thinking about booking a quick August trip with the free dining - I could always cancel if we couldn't go.

We have our spring luncheon today. I made my pasta salad, hope everyone likes it. Now, I am off to Honeybaked Ham for a ham and turkey!

Hope everyone is well. It's in the 80's here, I had to put the air back on last night. My Grandma and mom had tornado watches and hail and what not all through Central Fl last night. They all are fine and no damage near them.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: By any chance, was she blonde?! :rotfl: (No offense to anybody, just joking!) :goodvibes

Yes, as a matter of fact she was. (No offense taken) :rotfl2:

OK, Lori. Read all posts carefully before responding. Sorry, my tenant who didn't know how to wash dishes when the dishwasher was broken was indeed a blonde. No idea about the haircolor of Deb's friend.

Hello from a much sunnier Angel today.

John, sounds just like Mark and his singing...his greatest wish would be to sing....unfortunately he sounds like a cat with a sore throat! Truly the worst singing I've ever heard....but boy does he love to sing, bless him!:rolleyes1 :rotfl2:

Dennis has a good voice. He was in a country band way back in our younger days. 1969 - Montana. They played the whole summer at a resort. He still loves to play (guitar) and sing, but thinks he does not sound so good since his bypass surgery. The tube they put down the throat during surgery evidently pressed on the vocal cords a bit. He still sounds quite good, just struggles to hit some of the higher notes he used to do with no effort. He's my idol!

We just sold our apartment complex :woohoo: It was the most stressful thing we have ever done. We had way too many drug related problems and tenant issues, it aged DH incredibly. Now, we just have a few houses with lease to own tenants and life is so much better. I know not all rentals are as bad as ours, but we learned a lot of lessons in owning it for 4 years.

Congrats on selling the apartment complex. :thumbsup2 We've had rentals for 9 years now and it can be a crazy business. We live in a university town, so we've had lots of students. Pretty messy, but usually pay the bills on time (mom & dad are usually still willing to help out) and aren't much trouble. Recently, we've had a few problem tenants, however (non-students). We actually had to evict one guy & his girlfriend. The guy was already in jail, his kids had been taken by DHS to live with the grandmother, and girlfriend was just clueless.:sad2: That was the only tenant I have ever been afraid of. He ended up in jail for drug and weapons charges. scared1: I'd just as soon get rid of the rest of our rentals, but now isn't a good time to sell in this town, so we'll wait it out a few more years. There's also the problem of capital gains unless we do a like-kind exchange.

Our weather has been freakishly cold. Soccer canceled yesterday because of SNOW. DS has been a major grump the past couple of days, wondering if it is ever going to get warm. I have to say I agree with him. It looks like it might get better next week.

We are going to WDW on the free dining plan!. :yay: :yay:

DS and girlfriend are going too so it should be interesting.

We'll be there Aug 28 - Sept 4th at Riverside.

Hope everyone is well.

Fiona

The Disney shows are running again on the Travel Channel (Sorry Holly) today, starting at 3:00 pm Eastern. I think it starts with Imagineering. The DCL one runs at 5:00.

Now I need to visit the bathroom and I can't get there!:headache: All the drinks to keep boredom at bay have taken their toll!!! Methinks this will be a big plumber bill!

:rotfl2: :lmao:
Love this grouping of threads. I think we can all relate to not being able to do anything because of workmen in the house.
