Has anyone decided where they are staying yet. I don't think I am going to stay at the airport. I was thinking of doing something near the port. I tried a couple different one's but it said it was still early. I think I can do it at 11 months out it said. I was all excited at the one year mark and then nothing.

I would also like to know. Right now I plan to stay at the airport because the flights get in late in the afternoon. I don't want to deal with renting a car. BUT if it means saving a couple of hundred dollars, maybe it's a good idea just to head to the port area, being that we'll all still be on CA time. We will be using a limo service for a van, but we can just as easily take that the night before.

I am intrigued by the newer hotels in the port area.

It also might be easier to make a run to the store to pick up cases of water! Okay, now you've got me thinking!

I just checked the Country Inn and Suites website. You are able to book there now--about $100 per night. I think the websites, like the *dreaded* Travelocity, will start booking May 2008 on June 1.

Karin-what day are you flying? Are you doing San Diego?

so who's going to Pirates this weekend? I think we are going Friday night. I am trying to convince John to go to Disney for the day since we get Monday off.....he's says if we're (us three girls) are good this week....(fat chance).

San Diego doesn't have nonstop flights to Orlando, though it is more convenient. LAX has several well-timed nonstop flights, but it would require a car rental and possibly an overnight stay. I guess it depends on whether we fly with my parents and sister (LAX is most convenient for them). Burbank also might have a nonstop.

We will be flying out on the 9th. Can't have the kids missing ANY more school--esp since it's most likely the last week of testing!!

checking out DL ticket prices now...I really wish we could stay a week in CA but we'll really need to get back so I think 2 days is the max!

When it gets closer, have someone here in southern CA, like me, check stores like Vons and Costco. They will have "discount" tickets that are only available for purchase here. We can purchase them for you. You might end up saving at least a little.

Unfortunately Burbank has no non-stops. LAX has the only one's. I am thinking we are going to do AA on Friday morning. I think it flight 222.

WOW - that would be GREAT!!......as I am pricing tickets and the DL resorts I am a bit in sticker shock...........I am so spoiled with all the Fl discount rates we get!

Thanks I will check that out.

We are planning on flying direct out of LAX on a red eye on friday night. Delta and United both have directs that leave around 10 pm. I would like to go earlier but don't think either of us can get an extra day off on friday.

Oh me, me!:woohoo:

I'm flying out to Burbank and going to see POTC III:AWE at the El Capitan. I went to the Premiere of POTC III:DMC there last year (A picture with me in it is on miceage). It was fantastic. The El Capitan is an true theatre so they did the stage up with props while their award winning organist plays Disney music, then the shows starts, the prop cannons blow and a giant 6ft skull warns "Dead men tell no tales." It's like being at a rock concert. The audience claps and yells. Who Hoo! I'm so excited.:yay: In the basement of the El Capitan, they bring in several props from the movie and you walk through just like a museum. I must remember to bring my camera. 3 hours long!:3dglasses

I have already booked my rooms at the Country Inn & Suites because they have a family room that has 3 twin beds and 1 queen. My boys are at the age where sharing a bed is like inviting the party to last all night or ringing the bell for a WWF fight match.

Last time we stayed at the Radisson. It was very nice. The pool was awesome and the buffet was nice. The room we got was standard so with everyone crabby from a long flight, sharing a bed became a punishment for two, a reward for the one with the rollaway and a headache for Mom and Dad.:headache:

BTW, does anyone on this board also post on the other cruise boards (three circles, cruisecritic, etc.)?? I find it kinda weird that there are other "families" out there. No one's as fun as us, though! :grouphug:

I just started posting on a Carnival cruise board for a possible upcoming trip in March 2008. I also post on tripadvisor and epinions. Tripadvisor is my favorite place to find out about vacation spots.

I know the feeling--I can't justify going to Disneyland and paying rack rates for the resorts!

This offer is good for anyone else too! Sometime in the new year, I will go price them and then we can get a list together, etc.

My husband took that one, I think. I took Delta at 10 am (I refused to fly on the same airplane just in case something happened....we left the kids with my parents). United also has one. If we plan this right, we can have a DIS meet at airport!!

This is a good way to save $$ too!

I think our decision will have to be made sooner rather than later! These hotels will be booked by the fall, I bet, if not sooner!

Will you have a rental car, or are you planning to take CI&S shuttle? I've heard varying reports on how dependable it is.

Totally agree about the bed sharing!

I really wish Jet Blue would fly out of Long Beach to MCO but they are only doing direct to FLL. I hate going to LAX. I might do the red eye also. I have done two red eyes and they both have been miserable with crying babies and cranky flight attendants. I have sworn them off but I really would like to enjoy a little of Cocoa Beach also. Well some us are bound to be on the same flights.
