That would be fun! My dad and stepmom boil and dye 4 dozen eggs and write a number on each one. My dad is the one who hides the eggs and my stepmom randomly picks a number ahead of time to be the winning egg number. After we've found all the eggs, she tells us what the winning number is, we all check our eggs to see who has it, and the winner gets the prize (usually a $50 gift card somewhere or sometimes $50 cash). All the little kids each get a card telling them they're a winner with a few bucks inside.

That is a cute idea also. I am trying to think of something to do at the beach. I don't want to hide chocolate.

I have a lesson to give to everyone on my behalf. We are flying to Boston this summer and I waited to book the airfare. Today when I checked it went up almost $200.00 from Friday for the 4 of us.:headache:

I am now coaching soccer for my six-year-old's team. Have I ever played soccer? NO! Do I know anything about soccer? NO! How did this happen? :scared1: DS started soccer thru our parks and rec department this afternoon. The head soccer dude (see, I know all the technical lingo) started and ended the session with this plea to all the parents to coach. There are 8 teams and only 2 coaches. Naturally, my son's team is one without a coach. By the end of the practice today, none of the other parents had stepped up, so I said I would do it. Head soccer dude swears the manual will tell me everything I need to know. Riiiight. And will the manual magically bestow upon me some kind of athletic ability? Those poor kids. At least they are only in kindergarten. I can't mess this up too much......can I?

I'm feeling like a miserable failure at the moment. I just did a demo of the software I support to Disney. We have taxonomic software and I was demonstrating the product using their character names. It didn't go well. The program that I was demonstrating is very new, a bit buggy, and I'm not real familiar with it yet. They were asking questions I couldn't answer and I was showing things that didn't work as I thought they should. It was horrible. And the fact that it was Disney made it all the worse. I thought I would be able to have fun with it. :sad2:

I'm sure it wasn't as bad as you think, but I know that feeling! Been there, done that!! :grouphug:

Lori sounds like a call to Super Soccer Mom to dash to Iowa for a crash training course in soccer coaching....:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

thank heavens I only had to lead the girl scouts, not coach little league, or go kart driving....good reason for me to thank DH again tonight.

Good luck, you'll survive, they are little kids they bounce back :goodvibes

Hey Lori,

They do this all the time in AYSO and it drives me crazy. I have played and coached a lot, so if you need any help or have any questions I am here to help. These parents that don't help need to get a clue not you. You will have a great time and it is a good age to do it. Remember the kids could care less and if a parent gives you a hard time hand them your clip board it works wonders.:rotfl:

My heart goes out to you!

I used to be the trainer that followed our software around the country and I often had situations where things did not work, or it was brand new stuff I was supposed to be "up-to-speed" on and I had never even seen it!!!:scared1:

It's important to tap dance well, and if all else fails, punt!!;)

Two years ago, I got Sophia on EVERYTHING - too young to be afraid! She still loves BTMRR, but no Splash Mountain, no Tower of Terror now, and can't get her to try Rockin Rollercoaster!

A girl after my own heart. I can´t do those for fear of going on cardiac arrest, I absolutely hate drops (nowadays I don´t even do POTC, lol). DH doesn´t like them either, but he can tolerate them, so he will do those with DD on september.

For my 21st bday several of my sorority sisters took me to CHIPPENDALES...oh gosh, what a ridiculous night and I ended it by praying to the procelain god..........awful! 21 years later and I can still remember how awful it was.........

My friends took me to Chippendale´s on my bridal shower day and I had the WORST time, they were all laughing and I was really counting the minutes until we could leave. At least we are not curious anymore :lmao:

Just popping in to say good morning before I take DS9 to the dentist. I forgot to tell you all that he knocked out a good portion of both of his front teeth (about 1/3 of each one) on our very first day of vacation in Hawaii on a waterslide. We rushed him to a dentist who said he would be able to keep what remained of his teeth, thank goodness. We waited until we got home to have them bonded, however, so we could have it done by his regular dentist. Hopefully, he will have his usual bright smile back by lunchtime.

I hope he got his smile back with no pain.

I did virtually the same thing on the first day of 6th grade. I had already recieved by adult teeth and had to get bridge. Had bonded working until I was 18, the my dentist did a very nice bridge for me, on one ever knows my front teeth are fake.

We do now :lmao:

She shares her birthday with me! Say Happy Birthday to her from me won't you!/QUOTE]

happy belated birthday!

I say my son has a, "Heightened Sense of Mortality!" He's just recently started to enjoy mild roller coasters, but don't ask him to go upside down! (Pirates is still a NO!)
Carolyn

Another child after my own heart.

Or, adult beverages...or, better yet, pay someone to take their kids. (Sorry, Holly, I know you and Tyler love it...just makes me anxious to even consider going...)
Carolyn

I am so with you on this one. We are going to "la ciudad de los niños" (google kidzania) on wednesday and I have taken the nanny before, but we are going with friends and no one else is bringing a nanny, so I will just have to be on my toes after dd all day. It is an awesome place, and I know I won´t have a break until we leave, but it is really tiring for parents.

Just popping in to say hi and to wish Becky and Granmaz an early Happy Birthday from a fellow March 23rd Birthday Gal. Oh and I have a secret to share, while my legal name is Corrine, my DH and friends call me Cork.
Cork

Happy belated birthday to you too!

It's always about having fun and having a good attitude! Instill the love of having a good time and being a good sport in those little ones and the athletic ability and skill will come along with time!!

Remember to have them kick on the side of the shoe, not on the laces. Try to have them lead the person with the ball, but not go offside (pass the last defender before the goalie.):thumbsup2

And when all else fails... use the term "Unlucky" a lot!!;)

Does this fall under the header of TMI?!

Definetly it does, lol

beautiful daughter Noel!

Yup, I agree :goodvibes

As much as DH and DD's hate it, we always clean before our cleaning lady comes. Mostly because if we leave clutter around, she will put it away somewhere and it will never be seen again! As a child I remember always complaing about cleaning up for the cleaning lady and her I am doing it to my kids!

Definetly if you want things put away where they belong, put them away yourself. I tend to rearrange dd´s arts and crafts areas about every 2 weeks, because when she stars leaving things around, Jovita will pick them up wo the house doesn´t look messy, but you should see the new arrangements!

Holly....so sorry to hear about that. I hope it all works out for you. It must be a very frustrating situation to be in!

I hope they can somehow fix their mistake.

Have a great day everyone.

DS9 has his beautiful smile back again. The dentist did a nice job with the bonding. Can't even tell that about 1/2 of his two front teeth are fake. He was a real trouper at the dentist. It's just a killer for him to have to lie still for an hour with his mouth open but not talking. He is an incessant fidgeter and talker.
Thanks for all the well wishes.

Great to know he has his smile back, LOL about him not being able to talk, definetly that would drive dd crazy too.

Wow! I've been gone for hours and only 2 pages to read! Slow night here. ;) Alejandro was really busy while my friends and I were at the restaurant, so I didn't want to bother him. Just managed to catch a smile one of the times he was running back and forth. I had planned on sneaking a couple pictures with my phone for inquiring minds, but completely forgot. Will try to remember next time I see him.

Another good reason to see him soon :thumbsup2

Sorry to be absent so much by my job has had me out of the office for 2 weeks and then I picked up costume mom duties, and I am just whopped. But, without further ado...

The roll call has been updated!!!!

However, it also appears that we may have lost some folks who were on with all the work they have been doing on the boards. So if you were on there and you are not anymore (and ya didn't ask me to take you off) PM me and let me know. I have a master list on my work computer and I can try and merge the two to recreate the whole list.

Trying to catch up on all the messages I missed. You all have gotten really chatty on me!!!

Welcome back, we sure missed you! I hope you can catch up soon, it is definetly time consuming, and I speak from experience.

Holly,

I highly DOUBT that we are talking about the same thing!! Unless you mean dishes, laundrey, computer work for the wine shop...
See what I mean, DOUBT we're talking about the same thing.
Karen

Same thing......yeah, right! ;)

It is amazing. My eldest is 37 this year and I find it impossible to believe. I really am not old enough to have such an old child!!!

Admit it Marilyn, you were 10 when you had your first child!!;)

Karen

:rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl2:

If thinking could only do the cleaning....and the ironing......and the exercising.........!!!:rotfl:

Thanks for the birthday wishes. I'm being very lazy - well apart from the big pile of ironing! (Been thinking about it, but it was still there!)

What have been the results with thinking so far? At least you are not the only one putting the thinking-about-cleaning principle to test, lol.

 Hello everybody!

Writing to you from the beautiful lobby at Disney's Vero Beach!

Free Wi-Fi this year, but I have to walk over to the lobby.

I won't be on long, as it has been a long travel day.

After we got here, about 5:00, Sophia and I were going in the gate to the pool, and the couple ahead of us looked at us and said "Aren't you on the WB Repo cruise??" :rotfl2:

Now what kind of coincindence is that?

Weren´t you considering leaving the computer at home?

We have a saying that means that the world is a small place "the world is a handkerchief" and my good friend added "but full of boggars", since you never know who you will find in the most unexpected places, lol.

Last september DH, DD and I were going for lunch to Pizzafari in AK and we met my friend from the Babycenter boards, how crazy is that? We had lunch together and had a good time then.

But airfare from PDX to LAX is DOWN 20 bucks today for our May trip. Need to get that booked!

Hi Gang-I thought I'd post the info again about our Southern Cal DISmeets. If anyone wants to come that hasn't already PM'd me, please do, so that I can get you added to the ressie!

  • Time - 5:00PM
  • Where - Storyteller's, Grand Californian

I need to find out about day passes to Atlantis. For my halloween trip, we bringing the WHOLE family of seven. I'm booking a room, hopefully a suite, at the Royal Towers. That gives me access to the property for four. I need access for three more. I've heard about day passes, but don't know anything about them. Karen suggested that maybe PJ or Noel might be able to help me. PJ, Noel, can you help???:confused3

We got a great rate for september on travelozoo (I think?) But we decided to go cheap and do the Beach Towers. BIG mistake, it was a 20 min walk to the mayan area for kids, and when it started raining, a looong walk back to the room, so choose the area where you want to spend the day and stay close to it.

Ladies, don't you wish we could all just meet her for a chat RIGHT NOW?

I definetly love to be there with you gals and lads!

Noel, I can´t wait to read about the next day, lol.

Guess what guys . . .
Today . . .
Sophia . . .
Went . . .
Down . . .
The . . .
Slide!

This is a BIG deal. When I tried to get her to go down, and reminded her she went down the slide on the ship, she said "yes, but Savannah (Kim's DD) isn't here to help me go down" - then I bribed her with another game of miniature golf, and got her to go down.

Needless to say, that was the beginning of the end, and now I can just watch her go down the slide all day, knowing that all that climbing will make her sleep good at night. And of course, my darling daughter has made friends while here with other kids.

And, even though she will hide before she plays a public game, nominated her dad for a pool game with the DJ. Just to let you know, I had to dive into a pool and make my way to the other side while wearing a Florida Gators jersey (got that Vanessa?) with two play balls stuffed inside, and relay to a partner who then had to stuff three balls inside (I think you get the picture). No pictures though . . . Amy had already gone back to the room for a siesta!

(Yeah I am breaking my rules on internet while here - must be the DISease)

I love her smile in the last picture! Good for her to go down the slide :thumbsup2

Yup, Tyler's such a good "helper". Will be fun playing with him.

Thanks for the gym encouragement.....I just hope I don't lose my motivation over the next couple of days....but I have a feeling it's here to stay. :thumbsup2

I think the hardest part is to start, you will start feeling so good that you won´t have to miss a day of working out (yeah right, am I trying to brainwash someone besides myself?)

Great job, mom! :thumbsup2 Tyler has picked out his own clothes too ever since he turned 2. At that age, he insisted on everything matching, down to socks and underwear. If he were wearing a Spider Man outfit, he'd have to wear Spider Man socks and underwear. You get the idea. I suspect that's one of his dad's anal traits showing through. ;)

Oh, that is a cute image, lol

Sounds like it was a beautiful day for you! :thumbsup2 It turned beautiful here! It's 70 so I opened windows for the first time this season.

We took a 3 hour nap due to colds. Tyler's got a nasty cough, but the fever his dad said he had at his house is gone and his appetite came back last night. Today he's a bottomless pit....can't get him to stop eating, so I know he's on the mend, but still obviously needs lots of sleep to recover. He's long past taking naps, so I was surprised to find we both slept for so long (me because I feel like I'm starting to come down with it).

We then went outside to put our Easter bunnies in the yard and he tried to play in the backyard for about 10 minutes but wanted to go in. Could tell he doesn't feel so great yet. So the windows are open to get some of the beautiful fresh air! :cool1: Lovely!

I hope Tyler is well by now.

Mild!?! He was pretty brave at WDW last November -- Mission Space and Everest Expedition!
