Hi Marilyn, Hi Karen....

Up late/early again.

I had DIS problems too. I posted my last post twice. Just as I finished the first one, they were down and I lost it. I hate when that happens. So I had to re-post.

I'm playing on my new laptop....getting used to the touch pad instead of using a mouse. It's different.

after one night of transferring files i gave up on my touchpad for things like that!!!! i went to walmart and bough a retractable mouse for $20...it just plugs into a usb port whenever i want to use it and i don't have to plug anything in when i don't need to use it! :surfweb:

I am now coaching soccer for my six-year-old's team. Have I ever played soccer? NO! Do I know anything about soccer? NO! How did this happen? :scared1: DS started soccer thru our parks and rec department this afternoon. The head soccer dude (see, I know all the technical lingo) started and ended the session with this plea to all the parents to coach. There are 8 teams and only 2 coaches. Naturally, my son's team is one without a coach. By the end of the practice today, none of the other parents had stepped up, so I said I would do it. Head soccer dude swears the manual will tell me everything I need to know. Riiiight. And will the manual magically bestow upon me some kind of athletic ability? Those poor kids. At least they are only in kindergarten. I can't mess this up too much......can I?

forget the instruction book...watch "Kicking and Screaming" with WIll Farrell and it will teach you all you need to know....just drink lots of coffee! :lmao:

My car updated today to Daylight savings time. Really threw me when I got in the car and I was almost an hour late for a girls lunch date!!!
[/COLOR]

ahh...the advantages of having simple car where i have to rpogram everything in myself because it does not care what day and time it is!!! :rotfl2:

I would love that schedule. I wish we could move to a more year-round schedule here. I don't see it happening, though. I'm just envious at the thought of being able to go to WDW during January when it's at its quietest. :cloud9: Have you ever gone then?

i wi shw e would move to that schedule here too...i went in january on our honeymoon in 1993 and there was no one there!!! the only time you saw crowds was during a parade---it was like where did all these people come from??? the lines were really short too....but things could have changed...the weather was great!

why do they never talk about the price....how much does the suite go for a night do you think?

It's priceless....really. You can only stay there if you are selected during the Year of a Million Dreams. One family is selected each day. Someone posted about their stay with pictures on the DIS, but I can't find it now, of course. I wonder what they will do once the Year of a Million Dreams is over. :confused3 If they do open it up for rental, I imagine it would be booked up years in advance, regardless of the price. There are plenty of people with lots of money out there. Unfortunately, I'm not one of them.;)

Hey Lori,

They do this all the time in AYSO and it drives me crazy. I have played and coached a lot, so if you need any help or have any questions I am here to help. These parents that don't help need to get a clue not you. You will have a great time and it is a good age to do it. Remember the kids could care less and if a parent gives you a hard time hand them your clip board it works wonders.:rotfl:

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Thank you to everybody who posted their support. I was kind of irritated with a couple of the dads because as we all did some group activities together, it was obvious that a couple of them really knew what they were doing. But they just didn't want to step up and coach. This is just a little Parks & Rec league of kindergartners, so I'll be fine. The manual spells out all the drills and such. I plan to just have fun with it. And DH says he'll help whenever he's in town. That was really sweet of him because I really didn't expect or ask him to help. He's so busy already. :flower3: Now the tricky part will be getting my own child to listen to me out there.

I was going to use multi-quote to respond to all the great supportive comments I got regarding my new soccer coaching position, but I can't get it to work. Walk me thru it again, please. Thanks.:flower3:

Just hit the little plus sign button - second from the far right at the bottom of a post for each post you want to comment on (when you click it, it turns orange and becomes a minus (-) sign. When you are ready to post all comments, hit the "post reply" button, and you will get a posting window with all the quotes there that you wanted to reply to. Post your comments in between them (they will start with "quote" in brackets and end with "/quote" in brackets. If you change your mind about quoting a certain post, if you go back to the post and hit the "-" sign again, it will go back from orange to blue and you will not be quoting that post in your reply.

Hi Angel, sounds like a fun day for you with your sister and kids. Enjoy!!!:goodvibes

Don't you feel like giving up on the touch pad and just installing a mouse...sometimes I think it's not worth learning, especially when it does strange things that I'm not used to like highlighting things I didn't want to highlight. Has that happened to you yet? Mine does stuff like that.:confused3 But then I think, I can't let it beat me and I have to read the manual so I know what I'm doing....techno challenged.:rotfl: Definitely NOT a Geek!

I know what you mean Deb! Especially that highlighting thing! I'm really not a 'geek' like my dh...I was pleased as punch when I managed to set up Mum's PC for her while I was down there last week. :woohoo: Mind you, she's the most technically challenged Mum in the world and have already had a phone call to ask me yet again how to turn the pc off!!!!;)

:sad2: :sad1: :sad2: Oh how aweful...It could have been a perfect way to return home...so sad you already spent the money on the plane tickets and couldn't change them. That's gotta be heartbreaking. I guess you just have to say, things happen for a reason even if you don't know what it is right now. It'll work out ok. But I feel for you.:guilty: :guilty: :guilty:

I know.....all that shopping I could have done for more shoes to wear........:rolleyes1 :rotfl2: As you say, these things are meant to be though.......for instance Becky's exams start toward the end of May so I'd be a horrible Mum to be away at that time.....:sad2:

Maybe there will be a long exciting cruise in 2009 to book! I have a feeling after our 15 day one next year that anything shorter will be a let down!

:thumbsup2 know what you mean Maz! a 3 day just won't be right will it?!;)

Thanks John. That's what I thought, but when I hit "post reply," there are no quotes at all in the posting window. I am also constantly being logged off the site and have to log in again. So maybe it is just some glitch in my computer that isn't allowing me to multi-quote.

AI am so with you on this one. We are going to "la ciudad de los niños" (google kidzania) on wednesday and I have taken the nanny before, but we are going with friends and no one else is bringing a nanny, so I will just have to be on my toes after dd all day. It is an awesome place, and I know I won´t have a break until we leave, but it is really tiring for parents.
I checked out their website and WOW!! It looks so fun! I wish we had one around here. Hmmmmm......Note to self: next vacation spot - visit Julie with a side trip to Kidzania! :rotfl:

You know, I get asked to sign on again often - when before I NEVER did. Maybe there is some glitch in the DIS?

Something that might help Deb, (maybe you already know this) there's a way to change the sensitivity of the touch pad that could make it easier to use. Not sure where it would be in a PC, which I assume you have. On a Mac, it's under "System Preferences". It took me awhile to get used to mine, too. Don't give up! But if you can't stand it, you can just plug a mouse into one of the USB ports--easy!

Could be. I think I remember reading something about cookies on the tech board. I think I'll check it out.

Just an idea for you: I have a cute little tiny mouse that I got for my laptop just for Tyler to make it easier for him to do his computer stuff (sesamestreet.com :lmao: ) and it just plugs in, no installing, and has a retractible cord, so it's very handy. I just stick it in a drawer when he's done with it. I LOVE it! Not sure what brand it is....can look when I get home from work if you're interested.

:rotfl: OOPS! I hate when I forget to read other posts before posting about something! Sorry for repeat info! :guilty:

My heart goes out to you!

I used to be the trainer that followed our software around the country and I often had situations where things did not work, or it was brand new stuff I was supposed to be "up-to-speed" on and I had never even seen it!!!:scared1:

It's important to tap dance well, and if all else fails, punt!!;)

Karen

Thanks to all for all the hugs and encouraging words. It helped a lot.

Excellent advise! I did some training where I used to work but I had a formal curriculum to follow there. This was a definite 'winging it' situation. I was asked to do this demo the day before and it's a new product. And, I don't think it was as bad as I thought it was at the time. I am my own worst critic. Moving forward today. :)

Hey! What's up with my Champagne Girls logo? It changed to the dark background all by itself!? Spooky!
