Hi Karen.

Yes we are in Europe, officially!!! I think I was using that term we would have used in those days and I think sometimes now when we mean mainland Europe!! We would also use the term 'abroad'!

By static caravan we mean big mobile homes that can only be on a site and not towed. I am not sure you call them caravans do you?

Nope, never heard them called caravans...;)

And where is South Coast?:confused3

DIS has been down and is slow again! I may have to go to bed before we can chat further!:surfweb:

Have a great day!! It will be in the 70's again today!:flower3:

Karen

It is very late, or early...whichever way you look at it. The DISboards are about to go down I think. It's happened to be before around this time. So I'm going to say Good Day Marilyn and Good Night Karen.

It's been really fun chatting with you ladies...or should I say, Champagne Girls!!!!:rotfl2: :lmao: :dance3: :cheer2:

Night Deb!

I'm off to bed too!;)

Karen

AHA!! I have seen these in movies and magazines. Didn't know what they were until now!!

Anyway, yes, you still do have to kiss a lot of frogs before you find your prince. I remember going out on a LOT LOT LOT of first dates. I got so good at it, I knew within the first drink what kind of a "friend" category each guy was going to fall into. I spent 13 years single before meeting DH and then knew within the first 15 minutes that this one was going to be interesting and fun. I knew within the first date that he would be in my life forever. He asked me to marry him two weeks after meeting him and we were married five months to the exact day of our first date. Here we are celebrating 18 years since that first date on this cruise.

SOOOOOooooooo Kiss More Frogs!
That's SUCH a sweet story! :goodvibes Very romantic!

Holly, I admire your positive attitude. Even though I haven't met you, I can tell you're a very special woman, and a really special mom. Best wishes to you!:thumbsup2
 Awwwwww......shucks! I'm just a strong person who knows life is too short to get upset about things. Learn from it and move on. That's it! :thumbsup2

Holly, so sorry to hear about your blind date and now Alejandro. I am glad to hear that you have a positive attitude about men. My esthetician told me after being divorced 20 years she was content with life and was happy to grow old alone with her kids and GK's. One week later, on a blind date, she met Jerry and they are getting married in June. Never say never!!

:surfweb:
:goodvibes Very sweet! Actually, I'm not even looking for that right now. I just let my hormones get the best of me briefly. :rolleyes1 Going through certain female issues early thanks to my mom's genes (according to my GYN). You all catch my drift, I'm sure. But then, after my brain took over, I started getting slightly hooked on Alejandro. But I'm glad I found out everything early. I just feel sad for his wife so far away. With him being so far away from home, I'm sure it's not the first time and won't be the last time he does that. :sad2:

3 more pages to catch up on, but I have to be to work in 20 minutes.....and I'm still in my pajamas! ;) Later!

DH and I met on the internet in a chat room on Prodigy (are they still around? :lmao: ). We started emailing each other in January and had our first date on March 1st. It was a disaster and we both decided that we weren't each other's types. He lived in Mansfield and I lived in Columbus and we decided that even though we weren't each other's types we enjoyed emailing so we continued. One day he came down to do some work on my basement and we became friends. This was in '93 and we married in May of '94. I was 47 and he was 51. I had never been married and also had decided that I finally liked being single and he had been married twice and had no intention of marrying again (never say never :rotfl: ). We will be married 13 years this May. :cool1: Two of our daughters (the one with the new baby in CA and the one in OH) are from his first marriage, the third in WI is his step-daughter from his second marriage (she thinks of us as her parents, long story). So I guess the moral of many of our stories is never give up, the right one will come along when you least expect him.

That's lovely Carol.:lovestruc

Have to say that the stories you ladies have shared about finding your Prince among the many frogs give me hope  I'm VERY comfortable being single and on my own at this moment (working on getting me all in order), but I know that God knows that in my heart I do want to be married. I just haven't put in my prayer to Him yet of what I want in a man.....will do this when I'm ready, and I know that if it's in His plan, my man will turn up. Other thing I need to keep in mind tho, is that my timing isn't necessarily His timing!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY NAN!!

Buying our NYC theate tkts this weekend....we decided on 1 show seperately (Mary Poppins for me, Jersey Boys for her), Spamalot, Tarzan and the Color Purple.....hopefully all the tkts will be available (and at the cheaper seats too!).

Hope everyone is having a great day - I'm SOOOOOOO glad today is Friday!

Cheers!

That's so sweet Marilyn, I love hearing "how we met" love stories. I want to hear more, ok everybody, how did you meet?

DH and I are high school sweethearts. We met when his family moved to our town in 9th grade. We did a play together and HAD to kiss. We didn't start dating, however, until two years later, again while doing a play together. DS9 is really into acting and doing plays, so I guess I should look out for his leading ladies. :) Anyway, we married immediately after graduation from college and celebrated our 20th anniversary last fall.

I love all the stories about how people met. My favorite is still Angie and Dennis because it happened at DISNEY. Aren't they the ones who met on "It's a Small World"? Please correct me if I'm wrong. It's been known to happen once or twice. :confused3

Well, I met my friend when we did nurse training, and at 19 we wanted to go on holiday. We are talking 1967, so a different age. My friend's mum wouldn't let her go on holiday with her boyfriend, so I was invited. We looked at a holiday in Europe, but couldn't afford it, so my friend's boyfriend said he had a friend at college whose father had static caravans on a site on the south coast and we could rent one. One for myself and Daphne and a smaller one for Peter. Well, John, Peter's friend, then suggested he came along, so we were a foursome. We were all Christians, so it seemed safe enough!! On the last night of the 2 week holiday a very shy John asked if we could see each other again!! We married 2 years later. That is 38 years this year.

What a lovely romantic story, Marilyn!! Did Daphne marry Peter? Just made my day!!

There are literally thousands of these sites around the country.

I can remember back in 1989 when my then 21 year old DD Jennifer and my youngest DS Wendy stayed in the "caravan" outside my cousin Colleen and her husband Paul's flint and brick house in Forestside near Rowlands Castle in Hants.

Boy does that bring back memories!!

My DH and I met on a blind date as I had said in a previous post. My evil step-mom and DH worked together so she set us up. The day before our date he called and asked if I liked to fly. Anyone who knows me knows how terrified of flying I am. I lied and told him sure. When I got to the airport to meet the mystery man he was waiting by a little two seat-er helicopter.:scared1: I almost yakked all over the place. How was I going to tell this adorable boy I was not going to get in this mash looking tin can with him? I didn't. I went and we had a blast. He said I white knuckled it through the whole thing. I think he was trying to get me to become a member of the mile high club.:rotfl: We married a year and a half later and I turned 21 on my honeymoon. We will celebrate 14 years this June.:lovestruc
