Ditto to what Lisa said and I would get a lock for your gate. Easy enough to put on and will give you some peace of mind.:thumbsup2

I don't go to bed without making sure everything in the house is locked. I usually even go so far as to stand out on my porch and check out the neighborhood. Since I am usually up so late, if I see anything at that time of night on my street, I make sure it's nothing untowards!

We also have a really safe neighborhood, but anything can happen anywhere!

Be safe!

Karen
Yup.....a lock is on my list for this week. I just never thought it necessary before because when you try to open it from the outside, the handle parts have shifted so it won't work....you have to reach up and over the top and open it from the inside. I just figured nobody would go far enough to try that because they'd just figure it was locked somehow. But now I know better.

So here's something really creepy: Yesterday, when we went in the back yard to play for about 15 minutes, as Tyler climbed up the rock wall part of his playset to the covered platform part to sit, I saw a plastic cup up there and grabbed it to move it out of the way before he knocked over and spilled whatever might be in it. I was picturing mud or something that would spill down the slide and then he'd be too grossed out to slide. As I grabbed the cup, I made the mistake of looking inside of it out of curiosity. There was a DEAD MOUSE lying in some unidentifyable goop (I didn't look close enough to determine what it was after seeing the mouse) AND there was a plastic lighter lying next to the cup. This was all sitting up on the platform where a couple of kids can sit and pretend to drive, etc. So I'm wondering WHO THE HECK was in my backyard, and WHEN?! Since last fall, we've only been out there once and that was maybe two weeks ago, and the stuff wasn't there then. I know I didn't put it there because I don't own a lighter and don't even have any plastic cups like that. All the neighbors surrounding our back yard are elderly, so I know it wasn't them. So somebody walked up my driveway to my fence, opened the gate which is right next to my bedroom, and went in my backyard to do who knows what!

Isn't that creepy?

I agree with the other posters and think you should call the police. Your idea of leaving Tyler a bit late a day care sounds like a plan to me.

Have you considered using the equity in your house for a loan, maybe a refinance or a line of credit??? Just a thought.:confused3

Nope. My payments still only go towards interest, so I think that means I don't have any equity yet. Not too knowledgeable on how that all works. But I'm in the process of checking into all my options. :thumbsup2

Will do tomorrow. After all, maybe they've had similar reports nearby and this could help if any investigating is going on from other incidents.

COUNT ME IN! Champagne/sparkling wine is a recently acquired taste for me. Would occasionally have mimosas, but the Banfi Rose Regale is what really converted me to sparkling wines! :thumbsup2

You're In and Counted!

OK, lunch break over and all caught up on posts....catch ya later kids!

Later....

I really don't drink much at all, only the odd glass of wine, but I would love to taste a few Champagne's and sparkling wines. I don't think I would qualify for the Champagne Girls, but I would love the badge!!:rotfl:

Wouldn't do it without you, as Angel says...you're on the list as an honorary member!:thumbsup2

The Breakers was pretty unbelievable. I am Dising in the West Palm Beach Airport, but my battery is dying....more after I get home!!

Well, I got home....but NO time!! (Okay Holly, I am pretending to be you "quoting" myself!!:lmao:

Godspell - HOW AWESOME!! Went so well!!

Annie - MY DD13 - left for FL on her weeklong field trip Sun morning. We passed in the air (she was flying south as we were flying north). Well, she got there and spiked a 103 degree fever......waiting to here from the teacher now if I should fly down tomorrow and get her.....She was so looking forward to this trip. She stayed in the hotel room all day today and slept while the other kids did there work. They left one of the adults (and three other sick kids!) with her.

The Breakers is wonderful...wish I could spend hours telling you guys about it.
The grounds are beautiful, the service is perfect and the food was great. We had an everglades party and they brought in alligators and snakes (yes, real ones!) one of the alligators was a baby and weighed about 20 pounds. We all got to hold him!! When I get the picture, I will post it.

My DS17 is going to be a HOKIE

He heard from VA Tech and was accepted on Sunday (e-mail has changed the whole college thing since I did this 30 years ago!!) We were in Balt/Wash airport when we got a call that the notices were online. We drove like "bats out of H**L" to get back home and we were both shaking so much it was hard to read the notice. So my first child is in the school of his dreams....Empty next has started at the Halterman Household!!

Where we last left off, I was taking a power nap before the Thai dinner.

Waking from the power nap, I dressed and was ready when Samantha and Jocelyn picked me up to go to Karinya on Garnet in Pacific Beach.

http://www.karinyathaicuisine.com/index.html

We had:

Tom Yum Goon with seafood
TomYumGoong1.jpg

Tom Kung Calamari Salad with calamari with green onions, tomatoes, and cucumbers mixed with a special lime sauce.

Kang Kari with chicken which has a Mild, yellow coconut milk curry sauce with potato, carrots, and onions.

Goy Cee Mee with vegetables and tufu with rispy egg noodles with sauteed baby corn, mushrooms, celery, onions, and carrots topped with our chef's gravy.

(sorry could not find a pictures)

YUMMY DINNER!!

After dinner, we went out for a drink at the Pacific Beach Bar and Grill. A little too wild for me but the girls love it.

http://pbbarandgrill.com/

Two drinks and all the noise and I ready for bed!! Girls drop me off to go party into the night!!

Back at the hotel, I drop into bed and am also instantly asleep!!

Alarm goes off at 8AM which feels like 6AM.

HALLELUJAH...there is hot water!! I take a lovely long shower. How glorious!!
Afterward I repack and get ready to go to brunch. DD calls and I go downstairs to check out.

Most of the bill has been compted due to noises, inconvenices and no hot water. I am very happy but have cancelled ressies for all family and friends to stay at Hyatt during graduation.

Samantha picks me up at 10:15AM and off we go. Of course, the directions are completely wrong and we end up driving around in circles. Finally, I call the restaurant and we get correct directions, arriving 50 minutes LATE.

Since everyone else is seated and only one empty table is left. DD is very unhappy being seated by ourselves but low and behold, another Mom and her DD are even later than we are!! Deidra and her DD Elizabeth, a sophmore Theta are seated with us and it turns out they are from Palo Alto, a suburb right by our hometown.

Deidra turns out to be an attorney for the City of Palo Alto and DD Elizabeth and Sam have many friends in common. Perfect timing since DD is weighing going to law school.

Food is absolutely terrible!! We eat one or two bites. Waiter brings Deidra coffee in a water glass as he tells her they have "run" out of cups. The Boathouse has a great reputation but clearly can not handle group meals. Since we paid $20 each, I am not a happy camper.

http://www.boathouserestaurant.com/

DD and I leave to go what else, shopping. She needs a new straightener, groceries, and of course, more gas in her car. Considerably poorer, we head back to her condo.

Once back at the condo, it is time to do what I always do when I visit, help her clean the place. You can imagine what it is like with five girls who claim they have no time to clean. The microwave takes DD a half hour to clean while I clean the top of the counters and stove. DD also cleans out refrig ,takes down two huge yard garbage bags and then mops floor.

We then tackle the real disaster, her room and bathroom. DD has probably not hung up clothes since the last time I helped her clean room. I clean closet, organize shoes and fill up dirty clothes hamper. DD starts the first load of six loads of wash. We change sheets on the bed and DD cleans the bathroom disaster. Finally finish dusting and vaccuuming, I heat up leftovers from Thai dinner last night for lunch.

Finally at 6:30 PM, we are done!! DD has a Theta excutive meeting at 7:00 and I have an 8:55 flight. Off to the airport, where I collapse at the bar, have a gin and tonic and chat with a fellow who is also going back to the SF Bay area.

On the plane at 8:55, landing by 10:15, DH is circuling the wagons as I grab my bag. Perfect timing as he drives us, I walk out and off we go home. We are home and in bed by 11:00 PM.

I love traveling and visiting my DD. However, I always need a day or two to get caught up when I get home to read the DIS!!

Thanks for all the nice comments on my Blog.

Noel

With the exception of brunch, this was a much better day. Even the cleaning isn't soooo bad because you're doing it with DD.

Thanks for sharing, I enjoyed it immensely!;)

Thanks for the fun today Deb :)

Thank You! I had LOTS of FUN today with you and cannot wait to meet you in person!!!:woohoo: :woohoo:

The talks at the Uni were ok, although because we'd already done lots of research they didn't tell us much we didn't know. Glad to have it all confirmed tho......we won't qualify for any help so looks like it's student loan time for Becky next year :( She has a day at the Uni tomorrow with her fellow college students and will be talking to the Uni's she hopes to apply to.

So typical....it's student loan time! Hope she picks a good University that she will like, learn and grow with. One that stimulates her.l:idea:

yay another one for our list Deb!;)

Not to worry, I've got everyone wanting to join us on THE LIST. It's growing!

:rotfl:

Have a good sleep and pleasant dreams of Champagne flowing by the pool on Mickey's ship!

btw, You are THE ORIGINAL Champagne Girl!
:cool1:

I agree Sunday was the best day of the three. Thanks for the compliment!!

Some of you have wondered what the white ties that we have included with the Fish Extenders are for so I thought I would post it so that everyone is aware.:thumbsup2 On the first cruise as well as the one I first made these for a couple extenders "walked" away from their fish. It was suggested that you take a tie and put it around the cord once it is over the fish. That way it can't walk off. When you are ready to take it down just cut the tie off. It was such a good suggestion we decided to just start adding the ties so that everyone would have one. Hope this clears up any confusion.:thumbsup2

Also, some good news. We are now the proud grandparents of a little girl. Lily Ann was born last night at 5:15 PM PDT. :cutie:  She weighed 9 lbs 1 oz and has a bunch of dark brown hair and blue eyes. Our first girl after 7 grandsons. Can't wait to see her!

Quoting yourself......you've caught that contagious DISease! :rotfl2: Watch out!

So glad Godspell went so well! :thumbsup2

Poor Annie! Keep us posted. Hope she feels better quickly. :sad2:

Everglades party sounds so awesome!

Congrats to your son! He must be ECSTATIC at the thought of his dream coming true!!!! :dancer: And you must be so proud!

V's Gators and John's Buckeyes are both in the final 4. They don't play each other yet. Will we have a showdown in the championship game? Could be fun, and I don't follow basketball. Good thing V and John are friends or things could get ugly.

You may recall this happened with football!

We had some fun with that. When John2 did not have a tie for dinner at Palo, I offered him my Ohio State tie.

Maybe some revenge on the Gators in Basketball - I hope!

Me, too, Marilyn. Maybe we can be "associate members" or even mascots! What do you think???;)

here you go Deb....don't say I didn't warn you though....

A work in progress....

Your DH is right, you have a great talent and could sell them if you wanted. Please keep us posted on the 'work in progress' as it appears to be another gem!:thumbsup2

Thanks for the explanation on the white tie.

Congratulations on your new granddaughter!! She sounds absolutely gorgeous!!

Holly,

Trying to catch up as I have been down with the stomach flu since Sunday morning!

Really felt lousy and still not so hot today. Had to come into work to do some shipping, but I will be heading home again soon and probably will go back to bed.:sad2:

I'll keep trying to catch up, but I am only on Sunday, mid-day pacific time!:scared1:

Karen

Oh No, Karen, it got you too??? It's has been going around, even in my neighborhood. Drink plenty of liquids (they never tell you what kind...so, liquid of choice is good!) and get plenty of rest. Hope you recover quickly.:sad1:
