Rain, Rain, go away! I'm afraid it will NEVER stop raining. In the 30+ years I've lived here I can't remember a harder/rainier winter. Oh what I would do for some sunny 70 degree weather.

:sunny:

Our week in WDW before the cruise is going to be so much fun. My parents have agreed to get my kids, Nick 24 and Tiffany 26, a room with us at the Beach Club. And now my dd's best friend since Junior High and her husband want to join us. I love it when the kids come. They keep us motivated to go from daybreak until far into the night.

I completely agree...people keep saying this winter has been so mild, but this one has done me in. I am ready to move. I have only been out here for 15 years, but this is the worst winter for me. We were out clearing scotchbroom today in the pouring down rain and I kept talking to DH about my plans for the cruise or our next trip to WDW....it drove him crazy! He thinks I am crazy! :lmao: Thank goodness everyone here understands thinking about disney frequently!

I'll sit and watch equestrian events with you any day!! I love it too!!:thumbsup2

Karen
My mom's a big fan too. She was visiting today when the cable guy came to upgrade my cable package (hmmm.....sounds interesting in a twisted sort of way :lmao: ) and she was excitedly asking me if I get horse races now! :rotfl: Ummm.....yes mom....I'm sure I can find anything you'd want to watch.

What's scotchbroom? Some sort of weed?

Getting hungry here....time to start the quest for food.

Thinking I should pop over to Joanne's or Michael's and see if I can find some fish extender decorating components (now know as FEDC's). So far there is only one lonely Tigger patch.

.......I have this nagging feeling there was something I was supposed to post or a question I was supposed to answer...but it's lost in the menopause muck in my brain.....perhaps a little protein will help...isn't fish supposed to be brain food.....let's see if that helps......

:lmao: :lmao: That's got to be the funniest, most original description I've ever heard! Menopause much in your brain.....will be laughing about that one tomorrow still! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Deb,

DISing from work in-between customers! We have had a busy couple of days in the shop!:thumbsup2

Sorry I fell asleep last night!! I guess the last two busy, stressful days got to me and I conked out on the couch around 12:30!!:cloud9:

I'll try to catch up some more tonight, but we are having dinner at our friends house up the street and I'm sure that WINE will be involved!!;)

Karen

I am off for a nice dinner and some martini's after a day of yardwork in the rain!

She's all for that Karen!:thumbsup2 She must be feeling better today as they've gone up to London anyway :) I think the lure of the shops has been very strong......:rotfl: Paul was very disappointed that he'd made her a cake though and she couldn't eat it...he's just so sweet!

He sounds like a keeper! Unfortunatly, they often are around too early for DD's to realise how wonderful they are!!

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: Karen, you sound as crazy as me!:rotfl2:

Yes, great minds...;)

I have the same problem....will I do some ironing.....will I ever find the table (never mind the top of it!).....will I ever get around to starting that collage I've been imagining ......no I'll go shopping instead! (and come on here after) ;)

Shoes, shoes and more shoes....

Did someone say SHOES?!:thumbsup2

Here is the latest on my San Diego Theta Mom's weekend.
Noel

Sounds like a great weekend, hope you finally got some hot water! I love old town, it is so nice and the food is great!

What's scotchbroom? Some sort of weed?

Yes, it is a weed...like a tree if it gets too big and has yellow flowers. High allergen for most people.

Getting hungry here....time to start the quest for food.
Just had my own food quest. After me and my mom's Mexican lunch over 8 hours ago, I decided I'd better have just a bite of something to hold me over until morning. I try not to eat late at night (it's 10:13pm), but wouldn't be able to sleep with the rumbly in my tumbly! A tiny snack should hold me. :thumbsup2

Enjoy your dinner and martinis! Sounds like you deserve it!

Oh boy..... no fun. :sad2:

Oooooooh! I finally saw the commercial for that "Planet Earth" show some of you were talking about recently. Oh my gosh! Each time I see it, I can't look away from the tv.....and I don't even have HDTV! Glad I finally have cable so I can watch it! Sure looks incredible!

Guess what guys . . .

Today . . .

Sophia . . .

Went . . .

Down . . .

The . . .

Slide!

20420slide3.jpg

This is a BIG deal. When I tried to get her to go down, and reminded her she went down the slide on the ship, she said "yes, but Savannah (Kim's DD) isn't here to help me go down" - then I bribed her with another game of miniature golf, and got her to go down.

Needless to say, that was the beginning of the end, and now I can just watch her go down the slide all day, knowing that all that climbing will make her sleep good at night. And of course, my darling daughter has made friends while here with other kids.

And, even though she will hide before she plays a public game, nominated her dad for a pool game with the DJ. Just to let you know, I had to dive into a pool and make my way to the other side while wearing a Florida Gators jersey (got that Vanessa?) with two play balls stuffed inside, and relay to a partner who then had to stuff three balls inside (I think you get the picture). No pictures though . . . Amy had already gone back to the room for a siesta!

(Yeah I am breaking my rules on internet while here - must be the DISease)

Hey everyone! I just finished my vacation planning for DL with the vacation planners. That is one of my very favorite things about DL that WDW does not have.

John, I am SOOOOOO Jealous!!!!! Give Sophia a big hug from me!!!

We are going to Las Vegas Tuesday for a conference we are in charge of. I hate that place. I know its fun and all and everyone loves it, but because of all the smoke and my lovely asthma, I can't breath there, so I never feel good. Bummer.

Anyway, feel like the walking dead after last nights pageant and I have to go have the big fight with my laundry. It has such attitude just sitting there.

Kim

I will Kim . . . hey, she made it into the top 10 most beautiful women in America - that ain't all bad. Hope she didn't have to hug "the Donald" or anything!

Have a safe trip, and tell Savannah Sophia wishes she were here!

Oh John, that HUGE smile on Sophia's face at the bottom of the slide is priceless! I love the pics! I can just imagine how much fun she had and how proud she must have been of herself!

Sounds like you had a great day! Thanks so much for giving in to the DISease and sharing your day with us!

Here is the latest on my San Diego Theta Mom's weekend.

I flew in early yesterday to wait for the DD who was still sleeping when I called. Ok, normal, so I wait 45 minutes for her to pick me.

Finally in the car, she takes me to the hotel Hyatt Islandia where I normally stay to discover the hotel in undergoing a MAJOR renovation. No concierge floor etc. even though I am booked in this now nonexistent room. Apologies are offered and rate is greatly reduced.

http://islandia.hyatt.com/hyatt/hotels/index.jsp

After the front desk lowers the rate, I check in. I unpack and iron for a bit and since I am tired and want to relax, I decide to take a shower. NO HOT WATER!! Well, I am in a bit of a hurry as we have lunch ressies in La Jolla so I take quick cold shower and call the front desk. No problem, they tell me, will be fixed when I return.

Samantha picks me up and we go off to get her hair done in La Jolla while I stroll the streets. I am along for the bill paying at the end of the hair assignment. Once the bill is settled, we drive up the hill and pick up her HS best friend Shawn from her condo.

Back to downtown La Jolla, we have lunch at George's at the Cove in the Ocean Bistro. $80 lunch for 3 including tip for DD, myself and her HS best friend Shawna plus $8 for parking. Don't even ask about what we spent clothes shopping. Drop off Shawna back at her condo and off we go.

http://www.georgesatthecove.com/ocean.php

Next we are off to the car wash and to fill up her car with gas. Of course car is totally filthy and below empty. She proceeds to leave her Trish McEvoy makeup bag at the car wash so we have to rush back, grab makeup bag. She runs home after she takes me back to hotel room where water is still ICE COLD. I take a quick cold shower, change to cocktail attire, call front desk again and get profuse apologies and another promise that problem will be fixed.

Sam returns and we go to the cocktail party which is held on the terrace of the Joan Kroc (yes, as in McDonald's) Institute for Peace and Justice terrace. 100 Thetas mom and DD's gather to chat and eat a few veggies, a bit of cheese and drink punch for $15.00 each. However, we had to pick up our Theta Mom's race shirt so not a total loss. Needless to say by 7:30 PM DD and I are starving!!

http://www.sandiego.edu/about/virtualcampustour/

We drive to Old Town in San Diego, miraculously find a parking space and proceed to have another miracle, immediate seating at DD's favorite Mexican restaurant, Cafe Coyote. DD insists I take off my phone and Bluetooth and relax which I do putting both on the chair next to me. Then, DD convinces me since she is driving to have a Million Dollar Margarita made with Don Julio Repaado, Cointreau, Grand Marnier shaken with fresh orange juice, fresh lime juice and served on the rocks before dinner and a glass of Sangria with dinner. Both were JUMBO size. At this point, mommacita, is very happy. If you check the picture on the website, we were sitting right behind the lady making tortillas.
http://www.cafecoyoteoldtown.com/

Dinner costs about the same as lunch and we leave to go back to the hotel and to drop off DD. As soon as we arrive at DD's condo, I discover I have left Bluetooth and phone on chair. We immediately call restaurant and they say nothing has been found. DD says we are on our way!!! I have visions of $2K worth of calls to Mexico at this point. Arriving 10 minutes later at restaurant, DD jumps out of car and rushes inside. Two minutes later she comes back beaming with both items in her hand. It seems the hysteria in my voice had convinced the head waiter to go back to the table and sure enough on the chair is sitting both items. A HUGE SIGH.....

DD returns me to hotel and I surf the DIS boards briefly before falling asleep as I have a 6:30 AM wakeup call for the Breast Cancer Walk.

6:30 arrives and you guessed it, NO HOT WATER!! Another quick cold shower and a call to front desk who assures me that they are not going to charge me for last nights stay and offer me a free dinner in their restaurant. What am I going to say at this point? Fine, BUT FIX the water. I am stylishly dressed in Theta Mom's shirt, workout pants and tennies.

DD in the same attire picks me up at 7:00 AM and we are off to sign up. We meet the rest of the other stylish dressed mom's and DD's, take a group picture and chat before the race. DD runs the 5K and I walk the 3K. We are cheered at the finish and get our Pink Medals. Now back to the car to rush back and change for the mini meet at the Park.

http://www.cityofhope.org/walkforhope

Back to the hotel for a quick shower and of course, still no hot water. At this point, I call for the third time, get the manager and more apologies. However they do send someone from maintenance who tells me that all will be fixed by this evening. We shall see!!

Presidio Park is the location for the mini meet. Located above Old Town San Diego, it has a great museum. For us, we are directed to picnic benches to sample fresh fruit, orange juice and bagels. DD and I grab a bagel and some fruit and chat with the other moms. For this "meal", I have only had to pay $5.00 each.

http://www.sandiegohistory.org/mainpages/locate4.htm

After the "meal", we must dash to make our mani/pedi appointments in La Jolla. If you have ever been to La Jolla, you know there is tons of traffic going down Torrey Pines Blvd and parking is never easy. Luckily, the parking fairy is again looking down and sprinkles her pixie dust. We find a parking (free) space right across from the Salon which is above the Hard Rock Cafe.

Two blissful hours later and over $100 poorer, we emerge full rejuvenated but hungry!! Off to Zanzibar in Pacific Beach for a fabulous Asian Salad for me and a Mango Chicken Salad for Samantha.

http://media.www.thedailyaztec.com/...estaurantBarGuide/Pacific.Beach-2764683.shtml

Reinvigorated, Sam drops me back at the hotel so I can rest up for a late Thai dinner with her and her friend Jocelyn. So here I am typing away and getting ready for a quick browse of the DIS before I take a short power nap.

My life as a Sorority Mom continues with a brunch tomorrow. Will their be hot water????

Stay tuned.

Noel

NO HOT WATER...that's enough to make me leave immediately...but you didn't even have time to change hotels. It sounds like the only pikie dust pixiedust: for you this trip was finding parking spaces and DD....speaking of which, isn't it strange, yet quaint to sit and have drinks with your DD. How old is she now? It's amazing to see them all grown up.

I'm waiting with anticipation to see how this story turns out....to be continued....

AND PLEASE GET SOME HOT WATER!

And thanks for the links...it's like I'm there-except for the no hot water-!
 :scared1:

Oh . . .

And forgot to mention . . .

BUCKEYES WIN! AGAIN!

FINAL FOUR!

We'll see how Vanessa's Gators do tomorrow!

Tomorrow we are going to see the Dodgers play the Indians!

. . . Thinking I should pop over to Joanne's or Michael's and see if I can find some fish extender decorating components (now know as FEDC's). . .
Hey, I've been to those stores -- in Phoenix! Try aisle 4.

Woody

John - how cool is that? Now which DIS'er was it?

And YEAH, how 'bout them GATORS???!!!!

Way to go boys!! Now bring it tomorrow!! (at 2:40, in case anyone is interested) and I have a feeling Dennis and Angie may be on the other side this time! ;)

It was Tiggerhappy and her DH . . .

V - Amy said you must not have been doing your voodoo curse on the Buckeyes - we won by more than one point!

What will we do if it is a Buckeye-Gator showdown and we are at WDW? What day is that final anyway - Saturday or Sunday?

Yup, busy day....but fun! And I'm so proud of myself for going to the gym 3 days in a row! :goodvibes Won't go tomorrow because Tyler and I have lots of yardwork to do. Supposed to be in the 60s tomorrow and sunny all day, so we'll be pulling weeds away from the flowers and plants that are just starting to come up! WOOHOO! :thumbsup2 And there are a few piles of leaves that I didn't get raked up before snow came....I saw them today in the back yard and heard them calling my name. Yuck. But what a great excuse to be outside!

After busy, busy today....sounds like a nice kind of way to spend the day with Tyler tomorrow.

Good for you at the gym again....keep it up next week too!:thumbsup2

Spring is right around the corner....
:cloud9:

Nothing worse than LWA (LAUNDRY WITH ATTIDUDE!):rolleyes1

Do you have the number for the DL planning? I can't seem to find it in my travel planning stuff and I love using them!:thumbsup2

Thanks!

Karen

Ok, enlighten us east coast Worlders....What is DL planning? What do they do for you. After cruise, DH and me are doing DL during the week. It'll be our first time. Do I need to call DL planning? What do I ask them?:confused3

Yup, Tyler's such a good "helper". Will be fun playing with him.

Thanks for the gym encouragement.....I just hope I don't lose my motivation over the next couple of days....but I have a feeling it's here to stay. :thumbsup2
