Good morning everyone!

We had a great St. Pat's Day dinner at my Dsis' house. She lives right behind us, so we just walk through our gate, down the stairs and into her gorgeous garden!!:woohoo:

We started with a really cool Sparkling wine from Australia! It was a Majella Sparkling Shiraz! Deep Garnet in color with a very fruity, but not sweet palate and a semi-dry finish. Really great for a starter.

Then with our Corned Beef, we went with one of the recomendations that I had put in an article that I wrote for our "In Benicia" magazine; Robert Hall's Rhone de Robles. This is an award-winning red-Rhone blend of 39% Grenache, 37% Syrah, 20% Cinsaut and 4% Counoise. It was perfect with the Corned Beef, if I say so myself, and is a lovely all around food wine!! ;)

We finished with a light, italian sparkling wine, Rotti, very inexpensive and light end-of evening sparkler. We enjoyed that while watching Casino Royal on my DSis' 57 inch DLP screen. SO COOL!!

Really enjoyed the flick. It is so in tune with the original Ian Fleming book! Really thought it was well done.:thumbsup2

Ok, off to bed soon, I need to get a lot done tomorrow!!

Karen
Karen, I'm glad you had such a wonderful evening! Sounds great! :goodvibes

My goodness, what a lot there was to catch up on today!!!!:scared1:

Well, we went to London yesterday, my sister and I and our Mum. had a lovely time all 3 of us and decided we really don't do it often enough.

If anyone goes to London and Harrods, do try their afternoon tea in the Georgian Restaurant. It's really wonderful! Felt extremely civilised to be drinking champagne and hvaing tea, sandwiches, scones & cakes :) I think Mum really liked her surprise so I'm please. :)

While we were in town we saw a great parade by the Irish Guards outside Buckingham palace too, as we drove by in our taxi. That was an added bonus! (We kidded Mum it was just in her honour of course!);)

I'm a little sad today so could do with a hug or 2 as my 'baby' is n't here to wish me a Happy Mother's day, for the first time ever. :sad2: She's still over in germany on her college trip, hopefully having a blast.

OK...back to catching up.......

 HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY! Just pretend it's from your daughter. Consider yourself hugged!

Do you ever start to post and try to remember everything you wanted to say, but can't and then feel like you shouldn't post if you forget to say something to someone??? (Maybe...I'm overthinking this too much...)

But, what I do remember is:

Angie...yikes...be careful! Put your ankle up and relax. (Were you spraying to get rid of the blackberries? I know they're like weeds there, but I miss picking them!)

Estrella and Cordelia...you two play nice!:) Hope Cordelia's back to herself and Estrella understands that Cordelia was just having a bad day.

Julie...I'll work on your ironing lady's papers, if you and Estrella come, too. I'll have extra time, if my ironing's taken care of!:) (I don't really have that much ironing, just like the idea that you have someone come in to do that!)

Holllllyyyyy....you were IN Alejandro's apartment recently???

Wills/trusts...yes, GET one. We did in the midst of my hormonal rantings when I was pregnant with DD. It is peace of mind for everyone.

Happy Late Mexican Mother's Day and Happy English Mother's Day!!!

Carolyn

So we were all set to go out of town to visit my mom for her birthday, but she called me and cancelled. She's helping a friend shop for a new car and will be gone most of the day. So we rescheduled for next weekend. Instead, Tyler and I are going to try Chuck E. Cheese again since it was too busy to get into yesterday. This early in the day is usually a good time, so I'm sure we'll be playing and eating pizza very soon! :goodvibes I just love that place! Then we're going shopping for a spring jacket for him, just in case spring ever arrives!

Everybody have a great day and I'll be back during commercials of Desperate Housewives! :cool1:

The Outlawz are coming...

we just got a phone call that the are on their way over....I hate that. I would like at least a day's notice so I can mentally prepare to deal with MIL. Not to mention that Sunday is the only day off the four of us have together and pretty much like to lay around in our pj's and otherwise be lazy. Sounds horrible but if you met them you would understand....and also, it's lunchtime....and the Gators are on at 2pm.

Have fun, Holly!! The BEST time we've ever had at Chuck E. Cheese was on a weekday morning! We'd been to TWO parties there the weekend before that were madhouses, so we'd left early (bad mom!) and I promised to bring the kids back early. We were the first family in and had the place to ourselves for almost an hour. Heaven!

OH NO!!! I feel for you. I don't miss having inlaws one bit! Hang in there!

Now, I'm really going this time....poor Tyler's saying, "Mom, aren't we going to Chuck E. Cheese today?!" :rolleyes1

Bye!!

Have fun at Chuck E Cheese Holly & Tyler!

Chuck E Cheese is a big indoor playhouse for chidren - mostly younger than 10. There are video games, structures to play in. You can get tickets for winning the games and then turn the tickets in for prizes. They have pizza, salad, etc. It is very noisy, children love it.

Unfortunately, ours near us has had a few incidents. Most notably a little girl was reportedly attacked in the play structure by a 13 year old boy (whose mother was asleep in her car). My second to youngeset (3 years old at the time) was pushed by some older girl in the playstructure - it was after that incident that I did research and found out about the other incident. We had just moved here, so weren't aware of its reputation. We haven't been to that location since.

HOWEVER, they all of course are not like that. I'm sure the one Holly goes to is completely safe. Probably has something to do with where they are located. It did highlight to me to pay special attention when we are visiting play structures that have hidden areas where adults can not see. I'm sharing in case others haven't thought about this. I had never thought about it until our incident with our 3 year old. I was SO mad...I tried to find the girl, but it was hard to rely on my 3 year old's description. I reported it to the staff and they were just like "oh well." That is when I knew this particular place was mismanaged. More answer than anyone asked for!

Occupation

My DH is a Communication Engineer for the government, and I’m a Dental Hygienist, and volunteer for children’s sealant programs, I had to giggle when binkner said that her chart note lists lemon sucker.

Julie - how awful, my thoughts and prayers go out to the family and the children.

Noel - you know I really haven't given much thought about a will, but seems like I should look into it.

We went out to Olive Garden with my Dad. We went early and were seated immediatley which surprised me. Not becasue I think everyone is rushing out to OG on St Patty's but it is season here as well as spring break.

Not much planned today. I am going to pick up a sewing machine....I joined Freecycle, where people give away things they don't want any more. I am going to try and make some of these "boutique" clothes I have been paying a fortune for. Other than that....watch basketball and hang out.....nothing exciting.

Wow, V, I'm impressed! Only thing I could ever sew was little sunsuits for the girls. I did try to make a leisure suit for DrHug years ago :lmao: :rotfl: :lmao: , but the collar just wouldn't go together right. :confused3 Kind of a Lucy does sewing thing.:lmao: :lmao:

Hey everyone! I have 2 more days to catch up on, but we saw a movie last night we both really liked. Breach... It was great!!!

Today was build a bear -- yes, I know, Disney on Ice, and the parade... But it was great weather in SLC today!!!

Steve was on T.V. tonight. They asked him about the mayor of SLC while we were in the ladies room... You leave for a sec and look what happens!!

Those of you who said you would vote for my sweet cousin. You can vote now at www.Missusa.com. She is Miss Utah.

I have been looking at some of the pageant sites who are ranking the contestants, and can I say YIKES!! Some people are not very nice, and some are downright scary. I sent one to her brother that seems like a stalker. She was really depressed 2 days ago because there are 2 contestants who are really nice on camera but really not nice the rest of the time because they just know they are the winners. She is much better today and having a blast!

Anyway, night all!!

Kim
I voted for her!
That is strange...they didn't start doing timed test (fluency is what they call it at our school) until 3rd grade. I don't think he could have done that in 1st grade....granted now he reads at about 218 words in a minute, but he's also a much better reader than he was in 1st grade. In fact, the more I think about it, there's no way he could have done it in 1st grade. I'd challenge the teacher on it, it doesn't make sense. And at that age they SHOULD be worried about comprehension!
I thought that was strange also. How fast could a first grader possibly read?

We had a couple of incidents also when my oldest was little. I don't even know if my little one knows about the place yet.:rotfl:

We do not like Chuck E Cheese. It is a loud pizza place with game machines that give tickets for prizes and a rat that performs! :lmao: We have a Bullwinkles here that we like much better for the kids. Same idea, pizza and game machines with prizes, but the difference is that the tables where you eat are in a separate room so you can get away from the noise for a minute. Bullwinkles also has go-karts and mini-golf.
